Keep doing what you're doing, and congratulations on breaking the curse that seemed to be on this location!

The service is good as the staff is friendly and prompt on checking on you or refilling your chips and salsa. Ambiance is friendly although it was a bit cold the day we went so we left our jackets on throughout dinner. Business there is typically steady so if you go at a peak time there may be a wait. We went at 5:30 on a Friday and got right in but by the time we left around 7, the wait was a few people deep. The food is always good and portions are large. As with most Mexican places, they start you off with chips and salsa. The chips do not have salt on them so you may need to add it if you enjoy a salted chip. The salsa is good and not very spicy although my wife who doesn't do spice said it was a little much for her. I had the Cocina plate which is chicken, shrimp, and steak with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese sauce over rice. This is my go to as it's delicious and always hits the spot. My wife had a fajita quesadilla that was overflowing with meat and veggies and she really enjoyed. We tried some of their Paloma drinks this last time which were very strong but had good flavor.

The gentleman who waited on me was attentive, friendly and eager to make me happy. I wanted a grilled shrimp dinner with some rice and salad. Didn't see any grilled shrimp in the seafood section of the menu other than the Shrimp with Rice and Cheese. So I ordered it, asked to have the cheese served on the side and asked if they could make a small salad for me on the side with lettuce, pico and maybe ONE sliced avocado. I told the waiter I would pay extra for it. And I just had water to drink. Got the bill. $23. The dish on the menu is $15. They charged me $8 for some salad, pico and 2 sliced avocados (I asked for 1 avocado). The food came out hot. The shrimps were good. They were grilled nicely but too bad I couldn't really taste them because they were swimming in cheese sauce. They just threw everything in a pile and put 2 sliced avocados on a separate plate. I specifically asked him to put the cheese sauce on the side and to ADD a salad ON THE SiDE. You also get one napkin. It's the one wrapped around your fork. No extra napkins. No hot sauce. No limes or lemons in the water or on the plate. I understand that I was making special requests outside of how the dish is normally prepared. It wasn't how I wanted it but I still enjoyed my meal regardless and I still tipped over 20% because he really did try to make me happy. No fuss made. Would I recommend? Sure! I'm going to go back and try other dishes. They have a beautiful large bar area and they have a special drink menu. There was not a lot of people there when I got there around 4:30pm but by the time I left, nearly every table had been seated.

They're flavorful and somewhat spicy; a good spice that hits nicely in the back of the palate. I usually get the ACP. The rice is soft and flavorful in its own. The chicken is seasoned well and isn't overly salty. The best part, the cheese dip, is a flavorful, creamy treat. It's a HUGE portion of food, and if I had to estimate, about two pounds worth. No matter what I order, I always have leftovers for one large meal or two smaller meals. The employees inside are very friendly and helpful. They're a pleasure to interact with. There are a few picnic tables to eat at. Since everything is packed "to go," be sure to ask for utensils if you're like me and plan to eat in your vehicle.

You would never know it is there from just driving by. The eatery is located in the back right corner near the butcher counter. The establishment is very clean which put me at ease after walking in past the bars on the windows of the store front. There is a menu board behind the cash register just above the drink cooler and there are menus on the table. The menu is pretty good. You won't find a cookie cutter "Speedy Gonzalez" at this establishment though. They do offer "platillos" which is basically an entree with rice and beans. The tortillas appear to be hand made and the ingredients I ate were fresh and tasty. The sauces were authentic and bring a little more heat than one might expect. I ordered 3 tacos with a side of rice. I got one chorizo taco and two asada tacos. The meal came with two lime wedges, nice sized jalapeno and a cooked onion The tacos were loaded with cilantro, meat and onion and were by far the best tasting taco I have since I left Los Angeles. As for the tacos, another reviewer mentioned "Barbados" tacos but, I think what they meant was "barbacoa" which is barbecued meat. My dining companion had this and stated several times how tasty and flavorful it was. Service was good. The gal working the tables came by several times to ask if the food was good and was quick to bring more hot sauce when requested. She was courteous and helpful. This place has been added to my list as a regular stop since I am usually in that area frequently. Do yourself a favor and swing by to try it out - you will not be disappointed.

They have a menu full of great selections of tacos, gorditas, sopes, tortas and a number of plate(platillo) options just to name a few. The dining area is very clean and brightly lit with little cafeteria style booths, a couple tables with chairs and an island table in the middle with stools around it...and can't forget the full wall Aztec warrior mural. They also have a flat screen TV on the wall pumpin' out some Telemundo. I ordered some Mexican tacos to-go, 2 chicken and 2 barbacoa. The tacos are on fresh homemade corn tortillas filled with your meat option and topped with onion and cilantro with lime wedges and radish slices on the side and a roasted jalapeno pepper that'll burn your face off. They also come with a homemade green and red sauce which were both great with some good heat. The grilled chicken is cubed and tender with not much flavor until you add the sauce and the barbacoa (Mexican BBQ) is just great, very flavorful on it's own and plenty of it piled in the tacos. Everything is fresh and homemade, just outstanding. Tacos'll run ya $2 a piece, I did have to wait a little longer than expected for my order, but it was worth it. Definitely worth a stop...and there's another Mexican grocery/butcher/taqueria right next door that I'll be checkin' out too.

We also got an appetizer of corn ribs because... that stuff is delicious. I appreciate the tea being brought in GIANT glasses, as I was never wanting for a refill. I don't see why more places don't do this, what an easy way to relieve your server of a common service pain point. There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. In the end, it wasn't enough to deduct a star as we had an excellent overall experience. Thanks amigos!
