I should have known it wasn't good when no one was there on a Saturday and two different sets of people walked out. You have to buy the chips and salsa and my salsa was fermented and my chips were old. I payed $33 for 1 adult and 1 5yr old that both got tacos. The food was okay but I was scared because they already gave me bad salsa, the beans were runny, and I watched people walk out. The waitress was pleasant. Picked up a take out order of taco bowel and chips with salsa and horchata. Took the package and went home. The chips were rancid. They stank any whoever put them in in the package knew it. Taco bowel was a tepid serving of shredded chicken and lettuce. Next time go to Chipotle. read more

La Michoacana was an all around great experience! First of all, the parking lot is pretty big and welcoming. There were plenty of spaces! Once inside, you notice all the windows and the light coming in. It's a great environment to be in for a break from a drive or a relaxing meal away from home. The menus has all the standard options one would think of in a Mexican restaurant and more! The website helped with making sure this was the right fit for my group. The website was 1/2 in English and 1/2 in Spanish. This to me was a surefire way to know I was in the right direction to some great food! The ice cream options stretch from wall to wall! During my first time in La Michoacana, I ordered water, corn, chips/salsa, and steak tacos. You order standing up at the cash register. The cashiers waiter to you from behind the counter; don't get too comfortable unless you have all of your items accounted for. I found myself here as a pit stop along a 9 hour road trip; the bathrooms were highly important to us. Some tender love and care from the staff could easily make this 4 star a 5 star. We had found both the men's and women's bathrooms to be out of toilet paper. I can't wait to try this place again during my next drive by now that I know it's here! read more

Stopped here as we were traveling south from Wisconsin to Tennessee. The ratings seem to indicate that this might be in place to get a tasty and slightly different meal - which is something that we look for while we travel. We found the menu to be limited, but the food was quite good including the beans and roast beef on the roast beef and chiliqueles meal. The salad with shrimp was tasty, but there was a little too much iceberg lettuce, and we would have preferred having more mixed greens. But we like to eat healthy generally, so take that with a grain of salt. It was $22 for the two meals, and just water in glasses to drink. Been wanting to try this place out since they are much closer than the Plano location. But stopped in today got a mangonada , asked if it was fresh first and she said yes, but it ended up not being.. Stopped in with the wife for dinner. Immediately noticed how clean everything was. From the bright walls to the food display refrigerators, everything was very clean and welcoming. Was welcomed by 2 extremely friendly and helpful cashiers who explained the menu and made recommendations. I ordered 2 tacos and the wife ordered a tamale. Everything was very good and served hot. Food was very flavorful and I could taste the freshness. Im a tamale fan and wished I'd have ordered a tamale instead but the tacos were good too. For drinks we both had the horchata. I think they were home made and not from a mix. Very good! Lastly, the bathrooms were extremely clean as well. Great job! I don't often find a place to eat where I couldn't find something to complain about. But this place makes it hard! Everything was good, clean, and friendly. My lady and I frequent quite a few taco places in our travels, so on our recent day trip down to Starved Rock, we found La Michoacana in Lasalle. An easy 10 minute drive from the park. They have Mexican food and ice cream. We tried both. The food was great. There was a variety of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas ordered between the 6 of us. All were great choices and it was just over $40 for all of the food. The ice cream was great. 1 scoop gets you almost 2 scoops worth of the frozen treat. The only knock on the place is that they charge money for cups of water. read more

If you're at Starved Rock and want somewhere to eat afterwards that's not blah small town bar food, this is a great option. We ordered a lot of different things and all of it was delicious. Stars were the queso fundido, the elote, and the tacos. Pleasant service, and good prices. Definitely our go-to now for whenever we go hiking here. read more

Wonderful tasting food, the Raya con crema tacos are awesome. Nice staff, you can sample their excellent ice cream, but the paletas remind me most of Mexico! We always go here for lunch if in area. They do need baby change table in restroom, and high chairs. read more

They are authentic street tacos. They have several varieties but my favorite was the rajas con cream - poblano with cream. The flavor was awesome. New Rant: So I have been looking forward to going to Michoacana's in LaSalle for a while now because they have signs for $1 tacos. I go in and order the nacho special which is ground beef nachos with cheese, tomato and onion and a small drink for $5. Good deal, right? So then I ask the girl to add some sour cream, salsa, and guac, what you would normally get on nachos anywhere else and she tells me my total is $11.25! To add a few extra toppings to your nachos costs more than the nachos themselves! I told her that was bullshit and got out of line. I talked to my friend for a minute and then I asked if there was an adult there and they told me that boss wasn't in. I made the comment I could get an entire enchilada dinner at other Mexican restaurants for less than that and two other white asshole customers tell me to go there then. By this time it was too late for me to go anywhere else because I have to work at 5pm. So I am warning everyone in the LaSalle-Peru area not to go to Michoacana's unless you want to get majorly ripped off!!! read more

Great authentic food in a clean, bright atmosphere. It's not fast food, but you'll still get your food relatively quick. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. I had a chicken burrito that could easily feed two people, while my husband had a chorizo quesadilla. Both were excellent! He ordered a side of retried beans that could feed two people, as well. We each had an Alambre taco, my wife had tinga, and I had bistec and cochinita pibil. Yummy! My wife also sampled the tequila almond ice cream, though she ended up with double chocolate chip. The kind young woman also gave us free chips and salsa (great flavor, with a little kick) and offered us a choice of hot sauces for our tacos; we opted for the avocado, which was cool and creamy with just a little after-burn. Saturday afternoon decided to forego usual mcDonalds as we travel home from Wisconsin to Florida. I-Exit app said 0.7 miles off 39. More like 2+ miles, but not crowded streets. Nice counter type restaurant, but no one is in a hurry there. Husband ordered burrito which was quite good and large. Soft flour taco came on WARM shells. Nice touch. The town is quite cute so if you have some extra time and want to stretch your legs this is a nice spot. read more

This place has really and truly excellent Mexican food. It is so, so good. I don't understand the complaints about the nacho deal and the price because the prices here are more than reasonable. If that happened to me, I'd just be sure to ask for the total before actually placing the order and change my order, basically. This place was involved in a local festival and the taco I got was absolutely out of this world, probably one of the best tacos I've eaten in my life, and I'm originally from Chicago, and know great places in Chicago for tacos. Another Mexican place opened that's more accessible off of Rt 6, but this iplace is definitely worth making a turn off of Rt 6 for. This is hands-down some of the best Mexican food around.
