It use to be good back in the day when the original owners were still running it. This new generation knows nothing about customer service. They charge refills on coffee omg. This last time we arrived an 1 hr before closing . We were drinking coffee and when we wanted refills they said they ran out and weren't allowed to make more. WHAT happened to customer service. Wow is all that I can say. I witnessed a manager calling out a gentleman on his dog being inside the restaurant. The gentleman explained to him that it was a service animal for PTSD and pointed to his tag. Showing ignorance, he told his employees that no future service to him. This will be the first and last time I go to that place. "You can't ask for any documentation on a service animal." What a baboon. Clearly not a dog friendly restaurant. read more

The Robert's special is the best savory taco you can get. Perfect for brunch. The machacado Al la Mexicans tacos are to die for. Service always grate. It's a great place for family for everyday place to go. Servers and other guest are always great to be around. A big and lots of space inside. If driver around a bit a parking spot will always open. Breakfast tacos are the best, I usually get a barbacoa taco, the flour tortilla it's always cooked to perfection. Coffee is really good.

I ordered from this place based on their Uber ratings but it did not live up to them. I ordered the barbacoa plate for my husband, the migas plate for myself and an order of pancakes to share. The barbacoa, I did not get to try but we didn't have any cilantro nor onions to go with the tacos which was a dealbreaker for my husband. The migas had no flavor, not even a little bit of salt and the beans were dry. The pancakes seemed fluffy and looked really pretty but were also dry and tasteless. I added a lot of syrup but that didn't help. Really disappointed as I'm working from the hotel and can't go anywhere nor send the food back. read more

I hadnt visited this restaurant in about 10 years. I had breakfast early this week and the brisket taco tasted as if they used liquid smoke. The potato and egg was good. Service was quik but deadpan as most places in Laredo. The funny thing is they require a mask just to walk in but you can take it off as soon as you sit down (their logic is of concern lol). read more

In Laredo you can get a decent taco on almost every other block. However there is only one place you can get a Robert's Special with cheese and that's Los Jacales. This is a delicious HUGE messy treat. It is a thin layer of refried beans, bacon, brisket cooked in their secret sauce, cheese wrapped in a toasted flour tortilla. If you are ever this far south (not sure why you would be), but if you ever are, I guess you can try this place for breakfast tacos and other stuff. My wife and some of her family say that this is the best taco place in all of Laredo, but I am going to have to say, eh, it was ok. The best part of the taco was the tortilla. They cooked it to where is has the color and char that we liked in our tortillas. These tacos were ok and that's it. I was disappointed that they didn't have salsa verde, I have to have salsa verde with my tacos, strike 2. I have had better tacos in San Antonio. read more

Los Jacales brings back lots of memories for me. Working at Mercy coming here for lunch or eating breakfast tacos so many, many years ago. They are know for their carne ranchera tacos. Basically smoked brisket thinly sliced with their ranchera sauce served in flour tortillas. The tortillas were what my grandmother would call "talludas" - not soft and pillowy but a little tough and dry. The brisket was a little too smokey for me. Way more smokey than I remembered. As others have mentioned the parking is - tight and narrow which is never good when so many people in Laredo drive very large vehicles. Difficult to get in and out of. Was in Laredo to visit family, had breakfast with mother and brother on a pandemic Saturday. Ranchero meat(brisket with ranchero gravy) were excellent. Salsa and pico de gallo made the meal complete. The chorizo and egg taco my mother had(edentouless) was easy to chew for her with perfect combination of chorizo/egg proportion. Service was friendly, attentive, always ready to top off your coffee. My husband brought me here when I was visiting from out of town. He suggested the brisket tacos. I cannot express enough how delicious these tacos were. I MUST KNOW what kind of sauce they use! I've never had anything quite like it. It's almost like a bbq sauce, but not thick at all. It's like a combination bbq/guisado gravy, but instead of it being thick and vinegary, it is thinner and absolutely mouth watering. The meat is tender, and the flour tortilla it's wrapped in is hot, buttery and delicious the way a tortilla should be. Please, if you have never tried the brisket tacos from this place, you are missing out! I usually order only two, because they are big. A hungry man (or woman) could possibly eat three, though.
