We tried all of the different t tacos on the menu (side of beans) and the chips and guac. We also ordered a couple margaritas. The margaritas you could only get blended. They weren't able to make them fresh on the rocks. I asked how we would be able to enjoy the good mezcal they have. "shots" was the reply. Ya girl doesn't do shots anymore lol. So I didn't try the mezcal. The chips and guac were good. The tacos, also good. Maybe even very good. The tortillas were quite nice. Not sure if they're made in house or not, but better than the tortillas I can find in Germany. All of the meat on the tacos were cooked well and were flavorful. We also tried the nopales and it was tasty but I didn't love the texture. The inside was a little chilly so we kept our coats on. Not sure if I would return, but I wasn't disappointed we stopped in

I was craving a burrito the other day, and my colleague mentioned a place--she'd forgotten the name--just down the street. It was Chido. I tried Chido on Mouffetard years ago, and was disappointed with the selection, the cleanliness, the end result. Would this branch be any different? No, it wasn't. Cleaner, perhaps, but that's it. It's a small joint with stools as chairs and wooden paneling throughout. You stand in line to order, and then stand in line while they prepare your food. It seems as though they wanted to be different from Chipotle, and said "Hey, let's have customers place orders first and THEN prep the burritos!" While this may work for some fast food places, it doesn't work in this tiny place: there's a backlog of people at the cash register and out the door, and not enough counter space or manpower for the guys to fill the orders. Then, there is inevitably the customer who reaches the second line and says "oh, but I'd rather substitute the coleslaw for..." Nope. Too late, you already paid. Speaking of coleslaw, that is the ingredient that made my burrito the most unburrito-like burrito possible (yet it's a staple on the menu). I felt like I was biting into a mediocre wrap (who puts cabbage and mayonnaise in a burrito?) with no hint of Mexican flavor. No Tex, no Mex. Please don't call yourself a Mexican restaurant if you can't get the basics right. I'm not sure if it was the strange flavor mix or the excess cabbage, but that wrap (and its corn chips and subpar guacamole) didn't sit right the rest of the day.

The margarita is not a margarita. It's more an orange Julius with a vague suggestion of alcohol. Lackluster. On food, to qualify, I have been fortunate enough to eat lots of good Mexican just over the border in California and Texas. Therefore my standards are pretty high. I ordered the quacamole Chico followed by the chicken enchiladas verdes. The quacamole is authentic and delicious accompanied by beautifully complex sauces - jalapeño, red and crema. The balance, flavor and warmth was perfect. The enchiladas verde hit the spot but it admittedly was fairly two dimensional in flavors. The tortilla seemed a bit low quality (rubbery) and, as lamented by others, sadly served with red beans instead of black. Overall I enjoyed the enchilada and if I lived in the hood I would most certainly order again. When Mexican is called for, this place scratches the itch. Check it out.

Now for the nitty gritty. I came to meet a friend for lunch at noon. The place was crowded and it was hard to squeeze in between the two tables to get to my seat (mostly because they weighed two tons and I couldn't slide mir over one inch). The restaurant has terrible accoustics, it was so loud for lunch I had to practically read lips when having a conversation. Ambiance is a bit cold but hopefully they'll work on that.. As for food, I ordered a burrito. And it was only 6€!! I added a supplement of guacamole for 1€ and a supplement of spicy salsa for 1€ as well. The guac was freshly made, and a solid serving. The salsa, however was not spicy by any TexMex standard. I would not have paid extra for that, especially since there was a bottle of free Tabasco sitting on my table. My second biggest gripe was that the burrito was not folded so that it could be picked up and eaten by hand. I was obligated to cut it with my fork and knife and I found that somewhat burrito blasphemy. Taste-wise it was OK. I got the veggie option and it was a bit lacking in flavor. The tortilla hadn't been warmed and was a bit tough as well. My friend got the tortilla soup which came with chips, cheese and sour cream for 6€. It looked tasty and was a hearty portion. All in all, I'd be willing to retry this place in a few months but I'm not dying to get back right away.

After spending a majority of the day at the Versailles palace, my wife and I were ready for dinner…read more After browsing a plethora of options (there is not a shortage of dining options in Paris), we agreed to Mexican food. Ironically, the restaurant that we chose, El Guacamole, was a five minute walk from our hotel. Although the inside and outside seating of the restaurant was quite busy, an employee was able to quickly seat us at an indoor community bench that had just become available. We placed orders for the following: Frozen Margarita (wife), Frozen Passion Fruit Margarita (myself), Nachos Con Queso, Choriqueso Quesadilla (wife), and Deshebrada de Res Burrito (myself). The delicious drinks arrived five minutes later and the food arrived in less than 15 minutes. The Nachos Con Queso was a delicious starter that we shared and set the expectations for what I thought would be a good overall meal. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Respectfully, the food lacked flavor. My burrito probably would have been good if served with sauce, same with my wife's quesadilla. We both used the remaining sauce from the Nachos Con Queso to add the desired flavor. Knowing that we had to doctor up our own food, I cannot give a positive review in good faith. We reside in California where the bar is set pretty high for good, authentic Mexican food. Therefore, maybe I should have lowered my expectations for Mexican food in Paris. This review is solely my opinion of our experience, I suggest trying the restaurant for yourself to form your own opinion.
