I went with some friends while on vacation in Denver. We had gone to a few other restaurants but they'd been too busy. We arrived hungry and were not disappointed. Our waiter was polite and attentive. My friends spoke exclusively in Spanish. I understood bits. We had to have gotten like 5 or 6 chips and salsa refills? Free! By the time our food came, it was hard to want to eat more at all. I got a smothered Al pastor burrito while my friends got a burrito special and a chimichanga. The food was good, if a bit standard. I've only ordered to go from here but both times they have gotten the order wrong. They forgot the tortillas for the fajitas and the salad was completely deconstructed with some of the ingredients combined with other ingredients for the meals with others (two servings of guacamole in one container, for example). Bottom line...awesome Mexican food! We stopped in here for lunch on a trip to the Denver area last week and it did not disappoint. The kitchen has no idea what it is doing, I requested no onions in a dish and got only onions, I sent it back, but it didn't matter because everything in our party's order could only be described as slop. We ordered 5 different dishes and we each got the same slop covered in cheese with a tortilla. I wouldn't complain had it been tasty slop, but it wasn't. The food wasn't bad. The service was great. The bartender whipped up my beer lightning fast. While we had about a 20 min wait the restaurant. After being seated we enjoyed chips..the salsa however was hot! With spices. The server said it was the mild blend. However my family couldn't stop sweating. The server brought out a blend he said didn't have jalapenos. But it was super spicy. I like medium spicy but this was on par with a habanero sauce heat level. Main entree for me was a bean and chorizo burrito with a side potatoes. It was pretty stuffed and I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and how delicious it was. The hour wait on Friday was WORTH IT. The queso dip was hot and deliciously spicy with chunks of chiles in it. My entree was steak street tacos and those came out tender and juicy. I'm so disappointed to say the Littleton location is no longer our go-to Mexican restaurant. We were very happy with their take-out for a couple of years. The food was well prepared and had a nicely moderate level of heat, more than gringo-bland, but not scorching. Unfortunately, a change occurred recently. This place is one of many authentic Mexican restaurant in the suburbs I can find. We came in on a Saturday afternoon. And it was packed, but not busy enough for a wait. Surprisingly this place has a lot of tables inside. They have a bar area, and when that door opens and it does get cold. As for the service, it wasn't the best. I was asked if I wnated more water when we haven't even recieved the chips and salsa yet. The salsa was very bland. It took her a minute to get to us. She seemed to not know the menu when ordering. And another confusion on the menu, under the burrito part each item had a "2" next to it- under the impression it came in twos. The chicken burrito came out with two but not the carne asada- very odd, and the one steak burrito cost more than the chicken. The green chili and burritos were very good,but can always be spicer tho. And I wish they had more lettuce on the side. But I was happy they were not stingy on the smothered part. Terrible service! Had to beg an employee away from an NFL betting event to get a Cadillac margarita! I counted 12 people standing around...many on their phones! Ended up asking for chips, salsa and salt. We love Jose but even he wasn't attentive. Left and went to HR. So eventually, you got our money. But it will never be at Holly again. Hope this improves. Los Dos used to be our go-to for eating out. I've always enjoyed their skinny margs and food, particularly the queso and camarones los dos potrillos. Recently tho, they raised their prices roughly 40% on the things we enjoy. Our last bill for a family of 4 with 2 margaritas, queso and 4 entrees was over $125, not including tip. I'm struggling to see the value any longer, particularly when Mexican food is supposed to be quick and cheap. As much as I enjoy Los Dos, I can't see myself going there that often anymore. Nothing too spectacular, but def very cozy! BITES: Kristin M had nothing but great things to say about the chile relliano nachos; so naturally that was the first item on our list. Wow! So good! Def unique and highly recommended. Then we opted to split a selection of four tacos: carne asada, carne adobada steak, carne adobada pork, and carne tampiquena chicken. Everything was excellent. The carne adobada tacos and the chile relliano nachos were def my favorites. SIPS: While we didn't imbibe during our visit, they do offer a variety of both domestic and imported beers as well as a full service bar. Plus they have happy hour Monday through Friday from 4pm to 6pm! Yay! Will be checking that out next time door sure. SERVICE: This place is ALWAYS hopping! Be prepared for a 15 to 30 minute wait. They make their own tortillas in house and have a window into the kitchen where you can watch while you wait. Once you're seated the service is pretty fast! Our server made great recommendations and checked back with us often. Los Dos is one of my favorite restaurants, and has been for years. The food and service are both consistently good. The fajitas and tacos al carbon are delicious, and the portions generous. The tableside guacamole is flawless. I usually don't eat rice or beans, but they're very good here when I do have a bite or two. I like the street tacos because they don't come with rice and beans :) One interesting note: I'm white, as are the majority of patrons, and also my ex-husband. My partner now is of Spanish descent. We've gone to Los Dos probably six times together, maybe more. Sometimes he speaks Spanish, sometimes he doesn't. When he has spoken Spanish, the quesadilla has been made with Oaxaca cheese and was amazing. When he spoke English, another time, the quesadilla was made with gringo cheese--cheddar--and was simply not as good. Since this was only our second time ordering a quesadilla, it was rather surprising. He will be speaking Spanish on future visits. My Spanish is not as good as it used to be, alas. read more
