Salted just right, the guacamole is served in a molcajete with a garnish of peeled grapes on a small vine. Those grapes had great flavor as well. The lunch specials were decent and we had a couple drinks which were tasty and visually appealing as well. I ordered the Enchiladas and to my surprise, when they were served, they were hot and cheesy. Took my first bite and was transported back to childhood, sitting at my abuela's mesa the surprise was pleasant and tugged at my heart strings. The plate comes with cilantro rice with a green color which was weird to me but very tasty. The beans were refried and had a great taste as well. We didn't get any tortillas so not sure that they serve them here. As the manager came around, I had to let him know that I was so pleasantly impressed at the transportation back to childhood. He verbalized his contentment at my experience when I simply came to celebrate my friend's birthday. Definitely will be back here again. 'lol

What we received was a platter with six pieces of chicken and six pieces of steak with a handful of onions, a dollop of sour cream and a pinch of cheese. Tortillas that were hard within two minutes. I understand inflation but $52 for literally 12 pieces of meat on what you call a large platter is absolutely criminal. We don't complain much at restaurants, but we did last night. Giving two stars because the manager was very understanding and made us an entire third large fajita plate and when that one came out, it had significantly more meat on it, worthy of the $52 price tag! This place was my pregnancy craving four years ago and it has gone so downhill. The chipotle sauce, which really was the craving is now completely tasteless and has been for the past few visits. Ordering takeout from here is even worse. With 1000 Mexican restaurants in the area they could do so much better. Unfortunately, this restaurant has lost our business.

Unfortunately, things went sideways quite a bit for my friends. One of them eats dairy free and gluten free. It was extremely difficult for her to find anything to eat there. At some point, a manager told her he'd have to reheat her tortillas in the microwave. Weird and disappointing option. She ordered the dish anyway, and it was just nothing noteworthy. My other friend had the seafood, a shrimp dish to be exact, and she had an upset stomach a couple of hours later that lasted until the evening. She hadn't eaten anything else. So we're not 100% sure it's because of this place, but seafood is a common culprit so it's very possible that it was. I don't think she finished her plate, if my memory serves me well. My husband had the chimichanga. I think it was fine. But it was dunked in beef tallow, which he had been warned about. I thought it was a strange thing to do, especially since you can fry it in normal oil and open the menu to vegetarians as well. Beef tallow is so 1851!... Long story short, I've now been to this location half a dozen or more times over the last several months. The service and food have been consistently good- no complaints. In all of those visits, only once have we experienced an issue, and it wasn't that huge. My friend ordered a certain sauce for his burrito but they were all out. It really wasn't that big of a deal for him, he just chose something else, but the issue prompted a table visit from the manager. Manager just wanted to apologize again for the inconvenience. I thought that was a pretty decent move. Was just there this past Wednesday, and let me tell you...of your bot ordering off their seasonal hatch green chile menu...you're missing out. I had the hatch grilled chicken...which was fantastic. The chicken was moist enough to cut with a fork alone. Do I think the fajitas are overpriced for what you get? Yes. Since it was over 100 degrees that day, we chose to sit inside. We will definitely be adding Herbert's to our list of places to go when we're craving Mexican food!

The entrance process was a bit confusing, but we eventually found the walkway leading to the host stand, where a sign instructed guests to wait to be seated. We waited patiently at the reception area and noticed a few guests already seated outside, others being served inside, and a bartender nearby preparing drinks. As time passed, several more parties lined up behind us. During the approximately 20 minutes we stood there, multiple staff members went in and out of the main dining room entrance, and the bartender was clearly aware of guests waiting. Not a single employee acknowledged us, offered an estimated wait time, or even said, "We'll be right with you." We understand that restaurants get busy, and we certainly weren't looking to cause a scene or demand special treatment. A simple acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Instead, after standing there for what felt like an eternity without anyone checking on us or the growing line behind us, we decided to leave. Sadly, our return visit ended before it even began. We headed over to our reliable favorite, the Gristmill, where we were promptly greeted and seated. While I can't speak to the quality of the food here, the lack of basic customer service and guest recognition left a very disappointing first impression. I hope management takes a closer look at the arrival and seating process because no guest should feel invisible the moment they walk through the door.
