I ordered:…read moreThe Mac Dog (3.5 stars, $12.22) with mustard added and a side of fries ($2.60) The hotdog was your average packaged all beef dog, no skin or snap. The bun was a decent size to hold everything, but a little too much bread. The American cheese was standard quality, thin but melts well with the heat of the dog. All the toppings were fresh (Lettuce, Tomato, Diced Onions, Pickle Spear). I think the lettuce isn't needed, I'll skip that next time. The Bacon Bits are fresh made good quality smoked bacon, decent size cut, good stuff. The Yum Yum Sauce is their secret sauce, but it was very light and I didn't notice the flavor that much. I assume it is a mayo and paprika based with other spices, not sure. Maybe I'll order on the side next time. The fries are decent restaurant quality, the kind that has a coating of potatoe flour to give some extra texture and crunch, served hot. I think they fry them fresh for the order, nice touch! Raspberry lemonade (min bottle simply company) it was decent, nothing special. Until next time...

I went straight for my old favorite, the chili dog with everything. The service was friendly and fast, which made the visit enjoyable right from the start. The hot dogs themselves are on the smaller side, and the pricing is reasonable. The all beef dog tasted different than I remembered. Not the rich, beefy taste I recall from childhood, but still well prepared and satisfying. It honestly reminded me more of a quality store bought beef hot dog than the nostalgic powerhouse I remembered. The real standout is the chili, flavorful, and easily better than any other place I have tried. It has that perfect balance of spice and savoriness that elevates the whole dog. The toppings and "everything" combo work well, adding texture and flavor to the chili. While it wasn't quite as indulgently tasty as I remembered, the combination of fast, friendly service, solid pricing, and a tasty chili makes Taylor Hot Dogs worth visiting for a true Watsonville classic experience.
