Los Correa is the go-to place for carnitas in Querétaro if you don't want to make the trip all the way to Santa Rosa Jauregui. The weekends see the restaurant bustling with families for brunch, the tables overflowing with meat and tortillas, and the men of the family chugging down bottles of Corona. And while the sights and smells are alluring, these are debatably not the best carnitas in Querétaro, but it doesn't mean you should pass on trying this place.
Even though Los Correa gets a nod for its gastronomic history in Querétaro, the reason for this review is their excellent Noche Mexicana on Mexico's Independence Day, September 15th. The location lends itself for a beautiful evening, with a terrace overlooking the beautifully lit arena of the Plaza de Toros Santa María. The ambiance is tranquil but festive, the service is exceptional, and the food is beyond satisfying. Like many places on this date, they offer a buffet that offers an array of Mexican dishes, and they are all so delicious that you wish you had more room to stuff all of the food of the buffet line. A variety of moles, quesadillas, salsas, meats, tacos, pozole, and even Chiles en Nogada keep the festivities merry with bite after bite of ecstasy. No dish was left wanting, and in true Mexican fashion, there is plenty of alcohol to make this memorable night be completely forgotten.
Los Correa always offers great service, a great atmosphere and pretty good carnitas on any day of the year. It is a great place to catch 'El Grito' with the family and have some delicious food that reminds us how great it is to be Mexican. read more
