Ambiance is fun, service is good and the food is pretty good! I don't remember what I ordered but it came with 2 plates which was perfect for my fat azz. I took my parents there as it's their favorite place to eat and I get it as it's more Mexican food vs the TexMex food all over Texas. I do remember the food being very good but one issue I had was the cheese sauce in my enchiladas, I was NOT a fan of that stuff! It tasted weird, was it cheese wiz or a texmex concoction not sure but not a great taste. I love the self serve available at the end of your meal. The food is great but i had to pay 2 dollars for this little tiny thing of cheese for my enchiladas. Literally the same container they use for salsa, i'm sorry but that is just down right unacceptable. I can't believe how many times we have passed by here and have not stopped until today!! April 1st at that, and it was by word of mouth that someone told us how good the food was recently!!! So after I had to do some important errands for my wife, I came home and picked her up and told her we were going for a late lunch. It was almost an hour's drive from where we live to get to the little town of Hardin. If you Google it, it will give you a Liberty address and it's actually in between Liberty and Moss Hill, Tx. When we arrived we were promptly greeted and seated in a booth which we usually prefer. Our waitress was really friendly and outgoing and got our drink orders right away. My wife ordered a Blackberry Margarita and I just ordered the House margarita on the rocks. We ordered the Mexican Guacamole for an appetizer. They brought out dinner chips and salsa to our table and their salsa is really good! We ordered the Beef Fajitas for two and my wife ordered one crispy beef taco just to try their tacos as we are all about tacos. I saw they had Menudo on their menu so I ordered a bowl of that also! We told them that it was our first time there and we wanted to try everything on the menu!!! It all looked so good! One of the young ladies there bright is out some of their Queso to try and they had included sliced pickled jalapenos with it, which is exactly the way I would have ordered it if I had actually ordered Queso!!! I love having sliced jalapenos on the side to do my chips in queso and add slices of jalapenos to it! The margaritas and the Queso were fabulous and really good!!! They brought out the Mexican Guacamole and it was very good, but we didn't have a chance to eat very much because they brought out our Beef Fajitas and the bowl of Menudo! The fajitas were really tender and had a really great grilled taste and we both had two good tacos out of it with beans, rice, and Pico with the grilled onions from the Fajitas! My Menudo was just like what the mother of some childhood friends made at home! Oh so good!!! In fact it was so good my wife wanted the juice out of my bowl and she isn't really a big fan of Menudo, but theirs was that good!!! This place had a very nice ambience and everyone there helped each other, our waitress and the others were really great people! Well be back for sure!!! read more

Fun visit for a birthday celebration! The dab of guacamole was a bit small. The waiter brought a bowl to make up for the plates guacamole. Good food! Good service! Nice place to visit and leave with a complementary soft serve ice cream cone. read more

Very strong and consistent Mexican place with good food and service. Chicken Dibolla and anything with their cream sauce is especially noteworthy. I live in East Houston so there are lots of good Tex Mex joints and taquerias nearby, this place compares favorably with almost all of them. read more

If you're anywhere near Liberty or Dayton, Texas, and you're hungry, take a little detour to Hardin, Texas and eat at this restaurant. Excellent service, great food. All around great experience. We were there for Mothers Day (a central location for family spread all over southeast Tx) and it did not disappoint. LOVE Los Compadres. We have known the owners for over 20 years, and have followed them to each restaurant they have opened around us. We were thrilled when they decided to open one in Hardin. Excellent selection of food for adults & kids. Excellent chips & salsa served quickly. Excellent place to stop in bad weather since they have a sizable covered area to unload folks right at the front door (but the doors are not electrically operated for the handicapped). We came here for lunch, our first time here. I ordered the beef enchiladas with the regular sauce and cheese on top which were very good, the meat had a good flavor. My wife ordered cheese enchiladas with the green verde sauce which she said was very good. The rice was also good, our plates came in a reasonable time, I would eat here again and would recommend it. We eat here on average twice a week. Everything is great. My favorites are the chicken Diablo and tacos al pastor. Everyone is treated like a champion. I regularly substitute parts of the menu items to create a unique favorite. They don't charge for substitutions! The San Ricardo is my personal dish. My wife and I meet with friends most Fridays for drinks. The bar service is excellent. If we are tired of Mexican food they also have top notch burgers and baked potatoes. If you don't like what you get, let them know and they will make it right. Also the free ice cream is the best dessert. read more
