I have been coming here since I was a kid. Great food , great service and family environment. Not sure what's going on with their food now. Over priced, over cooked and portions are very small. I would like to have their food again with a better quality. My beef fajita was so over cooked, burnt on certain spots and no rice or beans like I typically get at most restaurants I frequent. read more

Honestly this is my first time ordering from them the food wasn't how I expected I wish it tasted better I couldn't eat my food I'm eating tortilla chips my own tortilla chips with the guacamole and sour cream I understand we're going through a pandemic so it's probably hard but I just wish I got food that tasted better read more

Los Chorros Restaurant - Mexican Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

5 star quality food and service! I've been here a few times and it's my first time writing them a review is recommended.

I have gotten delivery from this restaurant for months and have recommended Los Chorros to friends several times. I especially love the fish and shrimp soup. This week, however, was a total disappointment. The type of fish used this time was awful, very fishy and textured in a way that made me think they had gotten it out of the trash from food that patrons had not eaten the day before. The flavor of the broth was overwhelmed by the strong, cheap fish and it seemed as though they forgot the ahi panco that I can normally taste. Previously it had been wonderfully spiced with a soft, buttery white fish and several tender shrimp. I don't usually write reviews, but spending $17.99 for a soup is a huge financial splurge for me. I look forward to this normally wonderful dish and this experience was very disappointing. I can get a similar soup for much, much less at other restaurants. While not as special as the former version of this soup at Los Chorros, I will have a nice meal that does not empty my monthly food budget. read more

This was my first time ordering from Los Chorros and probably my last. I ordered a beef chimichanga but received a chicken chimichanga. Ordered an extra tortilla that we didn't receive. My husband got the trio enchiladas which he didn't enjoy because of they were overly covered with mozzarella cheese, which isn't the cheese expected on enchiladas from what we're used to. Food was otherwise fine, but not spectacular enough to come back. read more

Again, I'm sending out props to my Yelping tribe. Big kudos to the Yelp app on my iphone which led us to Los Chorros on an early Friday evening. The space is a little funky, housed underneath an office building with a side street entrance and pseudo-basement feel. Once inside you'll find a fairly large dining room. The decor is very casual and really uninspired, with the exception of the art that hangs on the walls. You might be tempted to not to notice the paintings, but take a minute. They are very good and prolific, depicting a plethora of scenes from El Salvador. The cuisine here is Mexican-Salvadorean. I would skip the Mexican half of that equation and dive right into the Salvadorean options. Really good pupusas are a great way to start. We had the refried bean and cheese pupusa along with the cheese and jalapeno pupusa. Both were exquisite, ultra fresh and hot, and made even better with the house made curtido (Vinegar cole slaw). The ubiquitous chips and salsa are very good. For entrees, I had the Chile Relleno ala Salvadoreno. A large mild pepper stuffed with ground beef and rice and wrapped in a omelet. Similar to the traditional Mexican style, but much more interesting. I would have preferred a spicier chile, but all in all a good dish. My dining partner in crime had the grilled chicken with enchilada. Also very good. We will definitely hit Los Chorros again. read more

Hidden. But look for the blue awning... That's how I found it! There is a parking lot near by, so don't fret. Walk in and instantly greeted. Service was very friendly! Nice. For a Saturday to place wasn't too busy... But maybe I was just early... The food was... Meh. Hit or miss. And with the other places nearby to compete with... It has a high bar... So it's really going to depend on what you get... Tamales? Pretty good. Had it with chicken and potato. Distribution in the tamale was an issue. Clumped to one side for each. They could have evened it out. Shredded it more or something. Taste was good. But not the best ever. Pupasas? Pork is better than chicken. Much more flavor. Chicken needed something... Not sure what. Not my favorite pupasas in the area... Also tried the horchata... Again. Not my favorite... Decent. Be sure to constantly stir your drink. It settles quickly. So it so so... read more

There aren't many places in Wheaton that are as family friendly as this place. The dining area is geared towards the dining clientele, and not the alkies as is the case with other places in the neighborhood. The waiters are friendly, helpful, and professional, which I find refreshing. The food is excellent, the flavor profile is very Salvadoran. What does that mean? It is typically earthy and comforting food, not geared towards blowing up your senses like spicy Mexican or Thai food. Being very familiar with Salvadoran food, I think this is some of the best example of the cuisine in the area. Anyone who doesn't think so, doesn't know Salvadoran food and hasn't developed an appreciation for this more subtle type of food. In summary, if you want a good, wholesome environment where you can enjoy excellent Salvadoran food with the family, friends or co-workers, this is a great option. read more

Ordered with Uber Eats, always wanted to try this place. Generally soso to disappointment. Steak was dry, edible but dry for medium. The rice is good. The beans are just ok. The flan was expensive for such a tiny serving but it had alcohol in it so that might be why. The flan was good. read more

I cannot understand how this place is getting good ratings. The place looks like a dive. I thought this place could be one of those hole in the wall places that could turn out to be great. Well, this was not the case for sure. The salsa was mostly just sauce and barely had any onions, tomatoes, etc,... I ordered the huevos rancheros which was extremely bland and boring. I've had much better at other places. We also ordered the veggie chimichanga enchilada style. All they did was put cheese on top but no sauce which could have been fine but it was also very bland and boring. As another reviewer mentioned, it did shock me that there were several Latin Americans in this place. Luckily we had one of those living social or groupon deals that made the food cheaper than it would have been. Do not bother going here unless you like boring and bland food. read more

My husband introduced me to this place 8 years ago on our second date. He is Salvadoran and insisted that I try pupusas for the first time. I loved them! The pupusas here are stuffed with cheese and the curtido and salsa taste very fresh. We have eaten pupusas at LOTS of places in the last 8 years, but no one makes them as well as this place (shhh...don't tell my mother in law I said that)! The service has been amazing every time we go there. The servers are attentive and polite. The restaurant always looks clean and presentable, including the bathrooms. There are not many places where the service and food are consistently great. I highly recommend this restaurant! Side note: their plantains, horchata, and steak are also very good read more

Yum Yum Yum all the way to effing delicious town. The ceviche is AWESOME and the enchiladas verdes are delicious. Also, Chef's tacos are great - if you're adventurous and want to dry cow tongue. The restaurant itself can look pretty sketch from outside, with a blue overhang in the midst of nothingness... don't worry - walk down the stairs and enjoy! read more

Frankly, I'm a little upset that I'm not eating there right now. My wife and I started with Pupusa (pollo con queso), then got the Especial Doña Reina and Especial Intipuca, which I assume are Salvadoran Spanish for "Incredible Plates of Meat." Hers had steak, sausage, and egg, and mine had skewered steak, chicken, and chorizo. All of it was fantastic. It seems very friendly, and family-friendly as well. We'll be back soon. read more

Delicious tacos here. The Al Carbon and the Lengua (beef tongue) tacos are money. They come with rice and refried beans. I lived in Texas for a bit, so i am pretty picky when it come to tacos. There are a lot of crappy little Mexican places in the area, so it's nice to find a place that makes authentic Mexican food made right. The prices are a little steep but it's worth it for food that tastes great. read more

I work right around the corner and have probably ordered lunch from here a handful of times. Maybe even more to be honest, this place is a favorite for my office which is how I learned about them. They deliver and promptly at that. Perfect for those long days when we're stuck in meetings. The service is always good. The prices are a tad high, but one of the better if not best restaurants in this area. I haven't tried too much off the menu, but very often order the Ensalada Fiesta which I really like, because the chicken is freshly grilled. I don't really care for the dressing much though, so I usually end up experimenting and creating my own dressing with their sauces. Their dressing is a little too sweet and heavy for me. I've also had their quesadillas and guacamole. You can tell they make their own chips, so good. They are super thick though, basically deep fried tortillas. They are pretty greasy though. They always give us free Papusas and they are really good. I love the plain cheese as well as the chicken with jalapeno. My colleagues always get the burritos. They are huge and really popular in my office. One of these days, when I'm feeling saucy I'd like to try their seafood entree's if I ever dine in. read more

The pupusas are good. But do not waste your money on purchasing yuca con chicharrón you only get max 4 pieces of chicharróns and the rest is all yuca! I called to complain and all they had to say was that that is how they do it here. That's a damn rip off! Save your $10. If I wanted a side of yuca I could of just ordered that by itself for half the price. read more

This is an update on my review The place is getting bad now I been here many time usually for carryout but they not what they use to be. My boyfriend would order on the phone to talk with someone to place an order, they are really rude on the phone and in person the boss man is the main one who rude they only want ur money and not if ur satisfied. also when u have a question on ur order they would hang up on you. This didn't happen one time but three times. The waiter and waitress are the only kind one but duh they have to be for TIPS.... I'm just saying there food are good but I wouldn't come back here ANYMORE read more

My boyfriend and I loved this place but I have to admit the very first time we went we saw a bug, maybe a water bug, crawl across our seats at the bar. The drinks were good and so was the food for the most part but after reading reviews of seeing other rodents and then seeing bugs myself. No thank you. Can't imagine what the kitchen looks like ! read more

Pupusas and the enchiladas platter were very tasty unfortunately I cannot say the same about carne asada. The steak was hard and difficult to chew. Service was good however I was very upset at the end. We waited about 20 minutes to get our bill. Make sure you tell your server at the beginning about your discount if you are using one. read more

Great spot for pupusas!! My boyfriend and I went on a Monday night and we were pleasantly surprised with the food and the service! We got the jalapeño cheese pupusa and the bean/cheese pupusa and loved both. I really enjoyed my veggie chimichanga -- filled with veggies and came piping hot. Boyfriend said his grilled chicken chimichanga was huge but perfectly seasoned and delicious. Margaritas were made well -- not watered down like some places. The house margarita is pretty well done which was a nice surprise. Service was quick and friendly; they were attentive to us even after a large party came for a birthday celebration and sat right next to us. We will be back for more pupusas and margaritas!! read more

I went on a Saturday Early evening - 4pm-ish....It eas EMPTY! Decor is 80's. Place is BIG. Food was A+! Service was fast & waiter was quite attentive. Papusa's are good. Not all dough...you could taste the filling. Food was flavorable & portions were generous but it wasn't better Salvadorian or Mexican you've had other places. It is worth going to and is GREAT for a group. There are 4-5 steps to go down to get in, but they do have a alley-way side door "handicapped" can go in. Although the terrain is rough so even if steps are a pain, it could be better then this alley. read more

Wheaton has a ton of good food and this is no exception. The lomo saltado was exactly what you would expect - tender meat, flavorful, with rice and plantains. Couldn't ask for better. Service was quick and not overbearing - timely drink refills and the food was fast. Will absolutely come back. read more

I arrived to pick up at the time that was stated the order would be ready. I ended up waiting there over half an hour. Very poor communication during my time there. People came in after me and were taken care of before me. Poor service. 0 stars if I could. Never again. Response to the restaurant's reply: If they were backed up, they should have reflected that in the time they told me to arrive. It also does not explain why 3 people who walked in after me were taken care of before me. I understand that it's a difficult time. It is for me as well and we're all trying to make ends meet. If they were running late, they should have let me know beforehand, not after the fact. read more

Thank you fellow Yelpers! I've been very happy with the discovery of Los Chorros as a delicious and easy source for fajitas, tamales, Mexican pizza, and other staples of the Mexican-Salvadoran hybrid cuisine in Maryland. We're only experienced takeout and delivery but have been very happy with both. The food has always fared well and other than a paucity of tortillas with the fajitas (just ordered an extra portion the next time), the chicken has been the tastiest we've had in all of the DMV. The location is a bit of out the way but there is plenty of parking behind the restaurant, which seems to be the case for all places in Wheaton- ample parking if you know where to look. Definitely look forward to trying more items on the menu, but the standbys have been very solid every time. read more

This is a below average Mexican restaurant. We were craving Mexican food so we decided to give this place a try. Especially since I had a coupon that I could use. We ordered two main dishes and an appetizer. Their Quezadilla was not very good. The cheese didn't taste good. I have had better Quezadillas even from my school's food court! Their Veggie Chimichanga was also not tasty at all. I forgot the other dish that we ordered but that didn't taste good either. Even their beans and rice didn't taste good. The only reason that they get a 2-star instead of a 1-star is that their plantain was good. I will definitely not go back. read more

This restaurant has some of the beat Pupusas and plantains I've ever had. I've been coming here for about 15 years, and the food is fresh and made with love. This is a family owned and operated business, and I can tell it in the food. The restaurant itself is a little dark, and they could use an update, but the food makes up for it. The service is pretty good, but the star here is definitely the food. Highly recommended for Central American food. read more

I thought I wrote a previous review, but I didn't. That's ok, since I wanted to update it. When I first visited, I ordered a taco salad (I think it was the Ensalada Fiesta). I wasn't that impressed. I went again with my neighbor last week and enjoyed everything. The service was fast and the server was friendly. I had the mango margarita and Enchiladas Monterrey, and it was excellent. I'm looking forward to my next visit! read more

I USED to be a huge fan of their pupusas, horchata and meat but I recently went back and it was DISAPPOINTING. The horchata was ok a bit too sweet and I ordered a T-bone and it was not worth the $18.
