We're from San Diego and never expected to find great Mexican food in a place like Gallatin but we found it here. This place is a hidden gem. The food and drinks are not only great, they're super affordable, especially during happy hour. The servers are always very nice and attentive. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. read more

Came here based on the reviews. I was craving real Mexican food. This was definitely not it. The ambiance of the restaurant is calm and nice. The menu has a variety of items to choose from and the service was great but that's where all the good things about this place stop. The food is expensive. You're paying at least $17+ for a dinner plate. Their tacos are $4 each! We ordered 2 different kinds of burritos, 1 chimichanga and 1 child plate and a small, I mean small queso and we walked outta there paying $80 without tip. The queso was $6.80?! The grilled steak and chicken were super dry and the rice was not good. This is not authentic Mexican food. More of an Americanized version of it. If you want real tacos, do this Nolensville Pike. read more

This place never disappoints. The atmosphere, the food, the service. I love it. I love the menu. The variety. There's something for everyone. read more

Just mediocre. Won't be back. You expect flavor but there was none. Tacos had a Taco Bell shell

Walked in and was greeted and seated. My servers name is Samwell. I kept it simple because I haven't been here before. I'm still on the MISSION to find authentic Mexican a food in Tennessee ( someone said "Good Luck"). Well my menu has salsa all on the pages. So hopefully they will wipe it off. The building needs a lot of updates. However, the bathroom was clean. My tacos were okay and rolled tacos were actually flautans. I think they could make more more money if it was updated. And a change to the menu with updated food items. Oh well at least I tried it out. It would have been nice if the server would have checked back with us but he never did. Never asked if I needed anything or how was my food. Well that's what tips are for! ( no not the tip I'm giving you.) read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant in town the best fajitas and the birria tacos are to dieeee for

Full disclaimer, I'm not entirely fond of Mexican cuisine but I can tolerate it. No matter where I go, it always tastes the same and is rather bland. That all changed when a group of my friends asked me to go eat dinner with them at Los Cantaritos. Because I was the minority naysayer, I was overruled and off we went. Before I get into the meat of this review, I'm saying this now. Los Cantaritos is THE BEST when it comes to Mexican cuisine. I've never had any Mexican food that tasted this good. First off the chips and salsa were great. Never did I get a stale chip and the salsa tasted fresh, had a mild heat, and had a good amount of cilantro (which I love). For dinner, I ordered a chile relleno (a la cart) and Enchiladas Mexicanas (four enchiladas consisting of one beef, one chicken, one cheese, and one beans, topped with enchilada sauce, lettuce, sour cream, cheese, and diced tomatoes). The Chile Relleno was excellent. It wasn't overcooked to where the cheese "evaporated" from overcooking and was covered with a fantastic red sauce. When I cut into it with a knife, the cheese just oozed out into a pool of cheese on my plate. Too many times have I had bad Chile Relleno dishes to where there wasn't any red sauce, it was bland, or there wasn't any/enough cheese in it. Not this one. Every bite had plenty of cheese. The Enchiladas Mexicans was heavenly. I don't like beans much, so I subbed out the bean enchilada with another cheese one. The beef enchilada was by the THE BEST out of the bunch. I've never had any beef at a Mexican restaurant that was as savory and flavorful as this one. If they just gave me a bowl filled with the beef filling, I would eat 100 of them. The cheese enchiladas were just like the Chile Relleno in terms of having ample amounts of cheese. The chicken enchilada had good flavor too (not bland) but I preferred the best one. The red sauce was so delicious. The only reason this review doesn't get 5 stars is because the service was somewhat bad. Our waitress was fantastic but it was the speed in which we got our food. Some came pretty quick but others in our party (of 12) had to wait almost 25 minutes for their food. By the time the last person got their food, some of us were done eating. Los Cantaritos definitely changed my opinion on Mexican food. The con about it is I will only go here for Mexican food now. Nobody else compares. read more

Let's just say we've had a tough time finding a good Mexican restaurant ever since we moved to Tennessee. Thank goodness I had a massive craving of food from home and thought, why not try it? Glad we walked into Los Cantaritos, I loved everything from beginning to end. Their ambiance and decor is so beautiful with some truly breathtaking Mexican art. Our server Jose was top notch and quick! I had 3 carne asada tacos and they were by far some of the best I've had in Tennessee. My wife had chicken enchiladas and she was super impressed by them. They have a wide variety of beers too! My go to is usually Modelo, but after speaking to the manager and finding out they carried both Tecates light and regular ( red can and blue can) I was sold! Cannot wait to come back to this establishment. Truly a great experience here! read more

I went on a Saturday evening with my 4-person family and two in-laws who were in town for the weekend. I had the "special" which was called "Molcajete." It was one of the best dishes that I have eaten in a restaurant ever. I was served in some kind of giant ceramic bowl with a snake's head on the front. I honestly felt like I was in Mexico for a moment. The service was fast and friendly. They also had some special water glasses that are hard to describe, but they kind of looked like flower vases. The other members of my party were also satisfied with the food. The only negative was that I tried my son's taco and did not like it very much. I thought the ground beef was a bit too ground. But that was the only negative. read more

Friendly staff. Great food. Place is clean. Loved the beans. Also really liked the salsa. Definitely will be back. read more

We were SO disappointed! This used to be a great place. Our server was clearly not interested in customer service. He was totally stingy with the chips and salsa (wouldn't even fill the bowl/basket). My husband specifically told him not to put green bell peppers in the fajitas. And I emphasized that he was allergic. They brought the food with bell pepper anyway, which would not have been a problem, but instead of going back and remaking the food, due to my husband's allergy, they picked the bell peppers out... And missed a few. We will not go back read more

One of the better Mexican restaurants around! Good authentic food. Authetico tacos are the BEST. Good chimichangas, good shrimp cocktail, great fajitas, good fresh guacamole. Super happy with everything we've tried and we've visited a few times! The service is always somewhere between decent and great. The place is always clean, food is always hot and fresh. One of our favorite spots! read more

I got the molcajete. My husband got the burrito with the grilled pineapple on top (I think it was called the aloha burrito maybe). The food was fantastic! The margaritas were somewhat weak and had a bright green color which I don't like. That makes me think they add food coloring which is needless in my opinion. We went at a slow time; around 3pm. The service was not great. The atmosphere was wonderful. It is very pleasant and cute inside the restaurant. The booths are comfortable and private. read more

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area!the food and service is most excellent!

The last time I ate here it was drab city, much to my surprise the restaurant has been renovated. Vibrant, open, and extremely busy. After a short wait, we were seated. As per all Mexican restaurants we were given chips and salsa (stale, and bland), I was beginning to get worried, however we were wowed by such great flavor in our meals. My wife had the Fajitas Hawaiian , and I had the Burrito California (pictured) both were excellente! I recommend giving this place a shot. read more

We go here at least once a month. Saw the blackboard special upon entering, featuring Molcajete. Although a staple on the menu, we never tried. OMG! It is now one of our favorites. Hubby had the mix (steak/chix), I had chix. One order (special of $10.99) would definitely have been plenty for the two of us. It comes with refried beans, spanish rice, Pico de Gallo, Ranchero Sauce, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, Queso cheese and tortillas. It is served in the unique bowl (not sure if ceramic or metal) that is blazing hot (don't touch), so it's definitely sizzling when served. It is similar to fajitas, but a different flavor, with broth at the bottom of the bowl. Meats were tender and juicy. Reg. $12.99; we'll definitely order (only one) again. As always, great service, ample free parking, and clean restrooms. Great complimentary chips and salsa. read more

This seems like it could be a decent lunch-stop Mexican restaurant. The location and interior don't suggest to me a great "night out" type of Mexican place but it is a good in and out midday stop with decent options. The prices, particularly at lunch, are very reasonable. Seriously, pretty much anything you order off the lunch menu is cheaper than most fast food "value" meals. Portions are reasonable though not heavy so it works great for a quick lunch. Staff seem to be friendly and efficient, place is clean. However, I wasn't particularly blown away by anything taste-wise. The salsa was bland, hot sauce options mediocre, rice and beans average. I ordered steak enchiladas and the steak was a bit on the chewy side. The enchilada shells were neither crispy or saturated with flavor, they were just loose and a bit dry so every bite I cut separated all parts--sauce, meat, shell. I don't mean to be overly critical--I did give it 3 stars---because nothing was "bad", just not particularly notable. I will certainly try it again and order something different because I'm sure there are some good options on the menu. read more

Excellent food! Service was a bit indifferent. Probably weren't appreciative of my weak Spanish.

It's just ok. Not bad, not great. Their burritos are decent, as long as you tell them not to put the cheese sauce on them. Decent tacos, chips and salsa could be better. The margs are just ok. The staff is nice and helpful. read more
