This is a great little Mexican restaurant where the food bursts with flavour and quality. With so many good deals, it would simply be a joke to pass up the chance to sample Los Amigos' colourful menu in favour of another Mexican joint. I'd wager it's the best in town. You must book on weekends as it gets quite busy but don't let this put you off as, in true Mexican style, the more people that arrive the better the atmosphere gets. If you like fajitas pop down Mon or Wed as they offer large chicken or vegetarian fajitas for £15 and these will easily fill two hungry tummies. Other deals include Tapas for two for £15 on Tuesdays and a two-course special menu available Sun-Thurs for £8.95. This place is great for special occasions as the sangria flows freely (£10 per jug) and the staff are more than accommodating. If you fancy some authentic Mexican food in a fun but not unoriginal environment, then look no further. read more

Was really surprised when reading the reviews for this restaurant as I think I have not really had many worse experinces in Brighton, I would normally eat out with my wife but ventured in here one early evening on my own, from the outside it looked pretty inviting and on walking in I again thought this feels nice, nice decor, cool lighting and thats where it all went downhill. The staff member approached me and directed me to a table right next to a busy table full of rather load people, as it was the only table with people on it I thought I could sit somewhere a little away from the noise, (my mistake) so I kindly asked if I could sit up the back of the restaurant, she pointed me in the direction and left me too it. From the service to the food, well what can I say overpriced and as far from Mexican food I have had, very tasteless, just nothing to it what so ever, no chicken in the chicken chimichanga but plenty of refried beans but again over cooked, just not very good at all. All round avoid this place, the service and food was bad, I have eaten Mexican food in many places including Mexico and America and this was just an insult to a fine cuisine. read more

Los amigos is an independent Mexican restaurant that efficiently serves up most traditional Mexican favourites, and a reasonable selection of bistro style alternatives. Great atmosphere for a celebratory meal, and well worth a visit. As a Mexican food lover the selection and quality were great and its me and my housemate fave pig out spot. First went here about 12 years ago. Can honestly say its the best restaurant I have ever been to. King prawn broschettas in garlic are to die for! Everything I've had there has always been fantastic. My husband raves about the steak there because its the only place that actually cooks the steak 'blue'. Consistently excellent. This is in my opinion one of the best restaurants in Brighton & Hove. Eaten here on several occasions, and the food has never disappointed, neither have the attentive waiting staff. Ate here for a friends birthday once and they really made a fuss of him, especially with the comedy massive sombrero and free tequila shots!! It's worth heading out of Central Brighton and along to Hove for this. Try the sizzling fajitas. read more

Used to be good here but the last time I went there (Sept.2011) the food was mediocre (at best) and they started cleaning up and switching off the lights around us to try to get us to leave even though it was only 10pm. There is better Mexican food to be had, and friendlier/better-served places to eat it in, around Brighton. read more

I've ordered takeaway from here via Deliveroo a few times and it's quickly become one of my faves. I love the enchiladas and the potato skins with chorizo (although the ones I ordered last night didn't actually have an chorizo on them. Sad). Everything is delicious, including the sides of rice and baked beans. Plus it's LOADS of food, so I usually have leftovers the next day. Hopefully I will be able to make it down to the actual restaurant in the near future and see how the whole experience compares. read more

Yum yum yum! I went here recently to celebrate a friend's good news, and was really impressed with both the food and cosy atmosphere, which managed to maintain a good balance between authentic Mexican and tacky Mexican! I went for good ol'chicken fajitas which came out sizzling, were delicious, and really generous in size. The prices aren't cheap but they do do £5.95 lunches which include a selected menu of fajitas, burgers, pastas, salads and wraps as well as a glass of wine. Also go on a Monday for chicken fajitas for two at £15. All in all well reccomended as the quality of the food just spoke for itself. read more

This restaurant is easily reachable by car, as well as free parking nearby after 8pm. The atmosphere is very lively with a birthday party going on when i was eating there. I really enjoyed the restaurant's special fajitas which were cooked nicely on a hot sizzling plate. Although slightly expensive, its worth a visit from time to time. read more

I have ordered takeaway from this restaurant twice. The first time the food was half an hour late. Quality was ok but a bit weird...never experienced peas, sweetcorn, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower in a fajita before! Certainly not how I make them and not very mexican... I ate most of it, nachos were not great, cheese wasn t melted and tortilla chips were a bit chewy. Not great overall but may be because I m a vegetarian so chose the veggie fajitas...although that s not really an excuse, I have had amazing vegetarian fajitas in my time! Shame because I was very excited to find a mexican place that delivered in Brighton. So I decide a couple of months later to give them a second chance and I order different things from the menu as I don't fancy the school dinner veg fajitas again. I ordered more nachos and some quesadillas. This was the worst takeaway experience I have ever had. The food was 20 minutes late, the driver charged me for delivery in cash on the door, even though I had paid online and the delivery was stated as being FREE. Then we sat down with the food and surprise surprise, it was awful. The nachos were stone cold but we ate them anyway because we were famished. Then came the quesadillas. Burnt to a crisp! They tasted of nothing but charcoal. We complained to Just Eat who we ordered through and they said that the restaurant would not refund because we had eaten the nachos. I said to pass along that if we don't get the refund we will phone the bank and cancel the transaction and write bad reviews on here and the Just Eat site, they said go ahead! So here we are. DON'T GO NEAR THIS RESTAURANT! They are rude, bad at cooking and cheeky to boot. No idea what happened to customer service, I own a business and I would rather make someone happy and refund than have them unhappy and leave me bad reviews. Customers come first for me! read more

Absolutely great. Went in there last night, ordered within 5mins, food came 10mins later. Food was piping hot, and the foot was great quality too. A reasonably-priced restaurant, Los Amigos is always pretty popular. They offer a brimming menu of Central American and Western dishes and really do deliver on taste. The waiters/waitresses are a little older and seemingly more experienced than in some other places and make your meal that bit more special. The service can be a little slow, but you feel the staff make up for this with their politeness and professionalism. The atmosphere is good with low-lighting and not too much in the way of Mexican paraphernalia that would steer Los Amigos into tacky territory. There is also a wide selection of cocktails that can get you on your merry way if you're thinking of going out after your meal. A further note /word of advice is that if you happen to be celebrating a birthday, tell the staff and your friend will be serenaded (usually the whole restaurant will join in) whilst suffering the humiliation of wearing a sombrero! An abomination. Service is surpisingly good and the place is cheery enough - but its the poor quality overpriced food that's the problem. The menu is a travesty with food from different continents and countries mixed together - confusion not fusion. What on earth possessed a chef to create a dish with chicken pieces swimming in barbecue sauce with a dip of periperi sauce in the middle - or the prawns described as with garlic and chilli to arrive swimming in unidentifyable red sauce complete with their black, full, digestive tracts. This place used to be good for generous fahitas sizzles - which seem to be the mainstay of the restaurant and popular with hen night groups etc. However when I used to come here as a student years ago fahitas were affordable - now they are in the region of £15 per person and mostly onions and chillis and stingy portions of the key ingredients such as prawns, chicken, steak. Fillet steak in here does not escape being messed with and paired with inappropriate sauces and mine was too tough to cut. This is a money making venture and not a foodie haunt. Save your pennies or try elsewhere - unless you want to pay £15 for a sizzling plate of onions and peppers and time to hunt for the sad constipated prawns that may be somewhere underneath. read more

This Mexican is ok, not particularly fresh and the menu isn't inspiring. With this in mind I played it safe and ordered the chicken fajitas on a sizzling plate which were ok.
