There are restaurants, and then there are places that become part of your life. This is one of…read morethose places. For years, Friday nights meant ending the week here at Cinco de Mayo, and as we're getting ready to move out of state, It's honestly hard to imagine not coming back here every week. Let's start with the margaritas. Their happy hour is hands-down one of the best deals around, and they're always perfectly made. Then come the chips... warm, fresh, homemade, and dangerously addictive. I don't know what they put in that chip seasoning, but it's basically magic dust. Pair those with their perfectly spiced salsa, and I'd happily make a meal out of just that!! And the chorizo queso? I've eaten Mexican food all over the country, and I still haven't found one that comes close. It's rich, cheesy, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely unforgettable. The street tacos are another reason we kept coming back week after week. Juicy, flavorful, piled high with fresh ingredients, and served on soft homemade tortillas that are always incredible. What really makes this place special, though, is the consistency. Every single visit, the food is outstanding, the service is warm and attentive, and you leave happier than when you walked in. We'll miss our Friday night tradition more than you know. Thank you for years of amazing food, wonderful service, and countless memories. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food done right, stop searching--you've found it.

You seat yourself and then pay at the front after. We all were feeling burritos, so California burrito and burrito supremes were ordered by everyone. They were MASSIVE! One could easily feed 2, or make one person uncomfortably full. The burrito supreme was more of a smothered burrito, but both equally good. If I lived here, I would definitely return. Inside is very casual with booths and seats, or takeout orders. Don't pass this place up My one and only gripe is the salsa (with the chips and salsa appetizer). They aren't included, and the salsa is bland and not spicy in the least. I'd skip this appetizer if considering

The restaurant is large and has an outside patio too. The menu is large and they have lunch specials. I had the chicken fajita quesadilla. My husband had another chicken dish. The food was delicious. The staff was friendly and fast. We would definitely go again.

My fajitas were on a cast iron skillet and practically floating in liquid. I've never had fajitas this bad at any Mexican restaurant. Very skimpy with the proteins, peppers and I'm still looking for the onions.... Speaking of looking, I'm still looking for our server to come and check on us and maybe ask if we would like another beer, well, that didn't happen. I went to the register to get our check and pay. He asked how everything was and I told him that it wasn't good at all, he never said another word. Sadly, like most restaurants in Hattiesburg that have been around for a while, they seem to have lost their desire to serve quality food and I guess people don't care and keep going back to these places. My family and I won't be back.

This is the most authentic (and best) Mexican (NOT Tex-Mex) joint we have found in town. The tacos…read moreare properly served on fresh corn tortillas and garnished with chopped white onions and cilantro along with a fresh lime wedge on the side, as they should be. (You can get flour with more Americanized toppings, but I would encourage everyone to try the corn). They also have traditional Mexican hangover- (or any malady) relieving soups like menudo and del mar available on the weekends; the fiancee loves these. You can get your choice of verde or roja salsas, and both are solid and nicely hot. I prefer the tangy verde, while the SO prefers the smokier and slightly hotter red. For those of you who are not familiar with the meats (carnitas, tripas, lengua, barbacoa, and so on), they will make anything with a shredded chicken filling, similar to a tinga. I've had the tacos, tortas, soups, and tamales, and I would recommend them all. It's so nice to have solid Mexican food here that isn't smothered in cheap, cheesy glop. I've yet to try the desserts, but I'll edit and report back when I do. While you're eating, you can enjoy an agua fresca, Mexican soda, or a cold cerveza. In short, if you're expecting bottomless chips served with mild salsa, check that desire at the door of this bright hole-in-the-wall. Instead, look forward to delicious and unpretentious Mexican food that would be right at home in TX, NM, CA, or Mexico itself. My only wish is for elotes, Mexican street corn!

She did her absolute best and was the only one waiting tables. Also the Happy Plate was $15.99!! I have never paid that for a plain happy plate, ever! We were shorted tortillas, sour cream and we got one small bowl of salsa to share and no little bowls to use for each person, just one small bowl to push around the table. The salads arrived in the small bowls you normally would have for each person to use for the salsa, now that is one tiny salad indeed. I think maybe they were short staffed. The veggies we got were not seasoned and were greasy. One person in our group order a burrito and it was not even toasted or browned, it was wrapped and thrown on the plate. I rarely give anyone a sub par review but this place.... Well I wanted to inform others especially if you are going with kids that will order multiple happy plates like our group.

Had never been to this restaurant before but have heard good things. We finally went to eat there…read morelast night. It looks fantastic inside - the decor has been very well done! I had not been there since the original Lone Star steak house was there. We were sat at a booth pretty quickly, and chips and salsa came right away. We ordered alcoholic drinks - I ordered a margarita, and my husband a beer. This is when things went a bit off the rails. We waited 15 minutes and everyone around us received their drinks, food, etc. We kept waiting - which made me annoyed. I got out of the booth to go see if I could find out what was going on. Just then another waitress - not ours -brought us some queso dip. I told her that I was just going to see where our waitress was. The drinks didn't arrive for another five minutes. But I really liked our waitress and she explained that she had a large table and their order took her a while to deliver. I didn't really like it but I did understand the delay. She took our order and that actually did arrive very quickly! I thought the food was pretty good - we shared a beef fajita. It was huge and we took at least 1/2 home. I ended up thinking that it was a pretty good place to eat. But as we were leaving my husband saw the waitress who was not our waitress who brought us the queso, walk up behind me. She looked at me and rolled her eyes - I guess she didn't like me looking for our waitress to find our drinks. That was not so nice - but I didn't see her do it. Guess you are not to get impatient??
