The problem is that the residents do not see their own doctor, there is some 'supposed' house doctor and most everyone is overmedicated. Also, there is absolutely NO physical therapy for these residents. They sit in chairs and on couches all day with the television blaring QVC while the nursing staff hang out in the kitchen, listening to music on their phones.

Most of the "caregivers" made no effort to perform any of the light housekeeping tasks that were part of the assignment which SF had expressly agreed that its "caregivers" would perform. When I could not find one caregiver on the first floor where she was suppose to be, I found her asleep in a second floor bedroom even though the "caregiver' had no responsibilities on that floor. SF's "caregivers" are, at best, unacceptable, with a single exception; at worst, dangerous. Most of the SF "caregivers" wanted to spend their shifts sitting at a table on their phones or laptops. Based on my experience, it appears SF either does not do legally required background checks to confirm its caregivers have clean records, or it ignores backfground check results that contain criminal records. From what happened to me, it seems SF just wants to send a body without regard to prior arrests, so it can collect a fee. SF provided one "caregiver" who has an arrest record for theft and assaulting a police officer, and a criminal conviction, including a suspended jail sentence and criminal probation, notwithstnding what may be SF's legal obligation to hire and provide only people with clean records. Based on my experience, SF most often provided extremely poor quality "caregivers" and, in one instance, a suspected thief. The "caregiver" with the criminal record is the sole suspect in an investigation of the theft of my deceased mother's diamond engagemnt ring and about $100 in cash (Baltimore County Police Incident Report #26-211-0184). At the suggestion of the Office of Health Care Quality, I have filed a complaint with the Maryland Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Division (Complaint #MU-541135) and will request that SF's home care license be revoked, because I think SF presents a public safety threat. I also filed an OHCQ complaint for misrepresentation and have failure to provided requested documentation . SF told me all the "caregivers" provided were Certified Nurse Assistants. I asked for proof that all the "caregivers" were CNA's multiple times, but SF never provided documentation. SF's representation appears to be false b/c the caregiver under investigation did not show as having a CNA license in the Health Dept online License Lookup. You would be hard pressed to find a worse home care company or "caregivers".

My dad has chronic illnesses and cannot manage himself when these unexpected gaps in care occur, which causes stress to the family . Management was responsive but unable to offer long term solutions . I recommend that Options for Senior Care America develop an accountability culture and hire more qualified aides or a contract to maintain continuity of care for their clients . If you do not need reliability then they work, if you do, it's a risk .
