The school also supports the students as individuals, where they are allowed to choose the classes they are interested in versus putting everyone in the same box. I actually think this is the model that all schools should be like for all students. The founders of this college are true Mountain Movers and it's such a wonderful organization to support. I really believe that this is a school worth supporting for by anyone and everyone but if you know a student who has differing abilities and would like to continue to learn, CAA is definitely the place to go.

He came home excitedly telling me all about his day and the projects he made. At pickup, I even got to "buy" one of my sons sweet art pieces from his little $5 sale. So cute! The only challenge for us is logistics: the drive is about 35 minutes with traffic, and Valley Fair parking can be difficult, making for a long commute day. Because of that, we will probably save it for school holidays rather than use it regularly. But it is absolutely a high-quality camp, and I would love to return for another art class in the future.

We had the most delightfully incredible time making little lands together. She's sweetly said that she wanted to make Mal from The Descendants, and the staff helped her with this. Parking is easy because there's a dedicated lot. It's a huge makerspace, so there was an open mic night, a photography session, and welding all happening in other places around the warehouse. What a cool environment! Khaled was a very energetic, kind, and supportive instructor. I'm honestly not that pleased with the quality of my work and would love to try again now that I have more experience. I'd come back for an intermediate class, but their website doesn't show any.

Area was clean and spacious and we had 4-5 hrs of safety talk, demos, and making our own knife from a piece of steel. Initially I was very excited to take a 4 week pottery class because it was a hobby I have been…read morethinking about trying for a long time but my experience here has honestly dampened my interest in pursuing pottery further I'm unsure if it's typical protocol but essentially the instructor would do one tutorial and then let the class figure it out from there. He would then focus on his own pieces instead of checking on how to students were doing. The classes rarely started on time because the instructor would be eating their late lunch and would consistently forget what he taught us the previous week. Because there was poor time management, we would be working on pieces and then 15 minutes before the class would end, we would be told we have to start cleaning up so everyone would rush to finish what they were doing Because there was barely any hands on instruction, I was constantly watching online videos from other pottery instructors before class to teach myself the tips I was missing from my own instructor The studio also lacked a proper storage system, so every single week we came in, our pieces were in a different place which made it extremely difficult to find our work -- I lost a few pieces because of this The overall experience has been so disappointing and a waste of time and money - if you are serious about making pottery a hobby, I would suggest looking for a different pottery studio

However there are several additional and unexpected cost, a $10 or $12 fee to upgrade your container, the one included is very small. Once you upgrade to a more decent container there is a $10 fee for extra wax, $1 fee to dye your wax, $1 per dried rose buds, $1 for 5 small stones ( smaller than an ant size), and $1 for 3 small wax charms. (3 charms included in the original fee) 2. The class is advertised as one hour long, but after pouring the wax into the container you have to wait one hour for the wax to harden to add your decorations. The employee said we can leave and come back, but we opted to stay. Total time: approx 2 hrs 3. The music is not child appropriate. They were playing an Ariana Grande album with explicit lyrics, including the 34+35 song where she repeatedly sings "fuck me all night" . It was uncomfortable hearing that type of music with children around. In addition, the scent selection included: Sex on the Beach. Which i didn't like when my child asked innocently "i wonder what sex smells like." 4. There was a daycare or maybe a summer camp and there were several kids who were horse playing and being loud . Now Im all for summer camps and i understand kids are having fun but for them to be in the same area as the candle making area made the experience a bit chaotic. The employee did ask them to quiet down, and eventually another employee moved them to another location. 5. There a large scent selection, however most of them smelled unpleasant. The employee was nice, and offered a free rose bud and a free wax charm. Overall, I would not recommend the candle making experience.

The instructor is an artist called Nancy, who also worked for many years in the school district as art teacher. She is very nice and can provide advice and helpful tips. The other people at the workshop were also very nice, some of them had been there before. I felt quite welcome and among friends. The workshop also provided a few snacks such as crackers, ham cheese, brownies, soft drinks. The workshop for the Christmas tree was split in two days because on the first day you have to glue the mosaic to the tree and on the second day, you apply the grout. So make sure that you have allocated enough time in your calendar for both. it was quite a relaxing workshop and I found that I actually slept much better overnight, which was an added benefit! I really enjoyed myself and hope to check out their calendar for other workshops to take. The studio is at the back of the instructors house and it is also open during weekends over certain hours for open studio. I noticed that some of the people working on their own pieces during open studio were doing some phenomenal pieces. There is a huge assortment of mosaic that you can use in your creations. Highly recommended.

It was my first time attending this event at The Alameda and I totally recommend to take your time to talk to the artists. All of them are super approachable, passionate about their jobs and very didactic teaching or explaining their skills and talents. Park on the street as parking is very limited and also it is very pleasant to walk that beautiful alameda anyways. No cover to enter, and in most cases you can buy art on the spot if you would like it, or even give your email address for future classes by some of the artists.
