I have stayed with him for all these years because he has a vast breadth of knowledge, he talks to me and not at me, he focuses as much on keeping me healthy as he does in dealing with any health issue I might have and I really like his holistic philosophy of health. His explanations are clear and he answers questions directly. He mines me for information and then works to connect the dots. And he channels his ideas and recommendations within the value boundaries of his patients without compromising his medical analyses or his solutions. Beyond medicine, he also advises on lifestyle changes that a patient can make to enhance their health. As a result, I have improved on a variety of personal health metrics ranging from my Ac1 score to my inflammation levels to even my heart parameters. He also instills confidence that one has the power to impact their health in positive ways. I especially like that he has a nutritionist professional on his staff. I've learned more about the relationship between food and health than I ever thought I would and to my significant benefit. I would suggest that having such an allied professional in the office is an asset that you won't find in many doctor offices. Finally, when I have had serious issues of concern, he was right on top of them. He didn't hesitate to get me the additional attention that I needed and I remain grateful for that. My only criticism is that some of his office staff can be very difficult to work and communicate with. Others are terrific. I end where I began. I've seen Dr. Jennifer Hooker several times now and really appreciate the attention she gives me. She's interested in not only the data (labs, bloodwork, vitals, etc.) But we talk about my lifestyle, my diet, how I'm managing stress and my quality of sleep. When was the last time your doc really listened to you? The office is very comfortable and offers magazines that support your health (cookbooks, LCHF research and articles). It was ruining my quality of life, missing tons of work, stuck in bed for days in excruciating pain, missing out on a social life, trips to the ER. It was taking over my life! I was having some degree of pain everyday for months and months at a time. I've had to make trips to the ER on several occasions so they could help stop the pain, it literally felt like someone was constantly stabbing me in the abdomen. I was prescribed Vicodin, which was horrible for me, but sometimes was the only thing that would help numb the pain. I would have to take multiple doses before I had any relief., I felt like my life was over! The last ER trip in March, it took 4 doses of their strongest pain medication and finally a dose of anti inflammatory to numb the pain, and before that trip I was given morphine, which made me very sick. It was a nightmare, and after struggling with this for so long, and almost losing my job because I was missing so much work, I decided to schedule a hysterectomy. I was terrified. That felt like my only option and I was crushed. I am 40 years old, and thinking of all the side effects I could face was devastating. By miracle, my manager at work stumbled onto the Frankenhauser Treatment while she was searching for medical supplies for work. After doing some more research I found Denver Holistic Medicine. After receiving 3 injections over a 3 week span I was feeling better. Soon after I started feeling pain again, so I came in during a time when I was having a lot of pain and Dr. Sturm gave me the Frankenhauser injection. I was in horrible pain for about a day after the injection, but after that I was completely pain free! I couldn't believe it. The pain was gone! It lasted for a couple months, and now I am getting these injections when needed to be proactive. I am happy to say, as of now, I was able to cancel my surgery and avoid having my uterus removed! I couldn't be more pleased and hopeful. I highly recommend this treatment for endometriosis, which has no cure. It has given me my life back. I am able to do things I love, like hiking and working on my yard, etc. My belly was always puffed out from being so inflamed, but now I feel skinny again! I do have some pain during the time i'm menstruating, and that's when I usually get another injection if the pain feels like it could get really bad and it helps knock the pain out within 24 hours! This has been such a long and crazy journey, but I am so happy that I have a holistic option to manage this pain. I haven't needed opioids, or to visit the ER, or even my OBGYN that was going to do my hysterectomy, for months and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Dr. Sturm! From my very first interaction, I have been incredibly impressed with how organized, professional, and genuinely kind everyone has been. Every single person I've spoken with has treated me with compassion, patience, and respect. I made it a point to remember some of their names because they all stood out: Essence, Erica, Rachel, Brittany, Dr. DeFrancisco, and Dr. Tyler (and I know I'm forgetting a few others who were just as wonderful!). What truly won me over was an experience that reminded me of how doctor's offices used to be--when people genuinely cared about the patient, not just the appointment schedule. While I was receiving an infusion, I desperately needed a cortisone injection. Even though Dr. DeFrancisco wasn't at that location that day, he responded to my message almost immediately, coordinated with the staff between offices, and arranged for Dr. Tyler to see me right then and there without a scheduled appointment. That level of teamwork, communication, and patient care is rare, and it meant so much to me. Dr. Tyler was absolutely hilarious and instantly put me at ease, and Dr. DeFrancisco has been everything I hoped for in a rheumatologist--knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely invested in his patients. The only thing I would say I truly benefitted from was the micronutrient testing, which I could've gotten at any regular doctor. I felt somewhat confident with her during our first few meetings, until I looked into the book she assigned as some homework. It is written by a quack called Dr. Gundry, who went on air and said that SMOKING CIGARETTES is good for you and prolongs your life. She also pushed her political beliefs on me and went on a roll about how she believes in RFK Jr's vaccine policies and how he would be great for president because of that. RFK Jr is antivax and thinks vaccines cause autism; he's a quack and a fraud. It just makes me not trust anything else she says when she promotes these hack "science" beliefs. I want to cry thinking about how much money I wasted, several thousand as she doesn't take insurance. It's so frustrating.
