I have stayed with him for all these years because he has a vast breadth of knowledge, he talks to me and not at me, he focuses as much on keeping me healthy as he does in dealing with any health issue I might have and I really like his holistic philosophy of health. His explanations are clear and he answers questions directly. He mines me for information and then works to connect the dots. And he channels his ideas and recommendations within the value boundaries of his patients without compromising his medical analyses or his solutions. Beyond medicine, he also advises on lifestyle changes that a patient can make to enhance their health. As a result, I have improved on a variety of personal health metrics ranging from my Ac1 score to my inflammation levels to even my heart parameters. He also instills confidence that one has the power to impact their health in positive ways. I especially like that he has a nutritionist professional on his staff. I've learned more about the relationship between food and health than I ever thought I would and to my significant benefit. I would suggest that having such an allied professional in the office is an asset that you won't find in many doctor offices. Finally, when I have had serious issues of concern, he was right on top of them. He didn't hesitate to get me the additional attention that I needed and I remain grateful for that. My only criticism is that some of his office staff can be very difficult to work and communicate with. Others are terrific. I end where I began. Unfortunately The Care Group is no longer. Dr. Guillory has retired, and his practice has been taken over by Aurora Family Medicine and moved to S. Potomac. This is a very kind and welcoming environment. Dr G really wants to help fix what ails you. Be prepared to put in some work of your own, a change in diet is mandatory. But, if you really want to find the root cause and try to fix your problems instead of treating your symptoms, you should be willing to do what it takes. Dr. Guillory has been the only doctor that has helped me with all of my symptoms. Even though I have went to see many neurologists, I have even had some tell me that I was making up my pain. I went to see holistic doctors and that's what was able to help me. I have so much joint and nerve pain that it was inhibiting me from doing normal life things. Dr. Guillory has helped me get on low dose naltrexone and amitriptyline as well as multiple vitamins to help me have a quality life of living. But now, he is retiring because of the new owners that don't practice holistic medicine. I can get amitriptyline at any other doctors but the low-dose naltrexone is something I can't get from a normal doctor. I'm scared because he is our last resort for a holistic doctor in Colorado, all of the other ones have closed. The medicine he has put me on has been a miracle worker and he only keeps getting my health better and better each day. Before seeing Dr. Guillory I was stuck in bed for hours before my body would allow me enough energy to get up. And now since I have seen him I am able to live a life like normal. It's sad that the American "Western Medicine" doesn't not acknowledge holistic medicine when it has helped many more people. Not everything is solved with pills, there is a deeper meaning why we have the health problems that we have. I'm so scared that he is leaving because this means my health is at risk as well. Wonderful doctor. HORRIBLE office staff. I love Dr. Guillory and every nutritionist at the practice. Unfortunately, to get to them, you have to go through the worst office staff I have ever encountered. They act annoyed when you have concerns or questions, and it is virtually impossible to get someone on the phone, and options on their phone system have been disconnected. From my first visit, I have found Dr. Guillory to be warm, professional, and wonderful in every sense of the word. A stark contrast to his cold hurried, and belittling office staff. The billing practices are confusing, and coding is inconsistent, meaning you better make sure you understand how they will be coding your visit - because when you get a surprise bill, they will make sure you know it is your responsibility to understand how your insurance works. I see Jennifer Mooney - I cant say enough good things about her. She always takes plenty of time to talk to me, listen to me and really pays attention to what I'm saying. She's kind and caring and I was at a point in my life when I needed compassion and I needed to find out how to cope. I'm borrowing my wife's account to write this review because Dr. Guillory is so great that I wanted to spread the word. I was elated to find Dr. Guillory after a long search for the right primary care physician. I've been looking for someone who takes a functional medicine approach to health, which means that they look for the root causes of things, as opposed to just putting a "band-aid" on the symptoms without digging deeper. I believe the end-result of this approach is much better overall health. I also wanted to find a doctor that understands how critical nutrition is to health. Dr. Guillory is all of these things, and he practices medicine in as natural of a way as possible. If you are looking for an MD that accepts traditional insurance and takes a functional medicine approach to health, I highly recommend Dr. Guillory. Dr. Guillory is also a published author and expert on digestive health and digestive-related conditions with years and years of experience. He is very passionate about helping people heal their digestive tract and relieve the many digestive and non-digestive symptoms that people experience due to digestive issues. He has also incorporated much of the latest research and solutions on intestinal permeability into his work with patients, which is something most doctors aren't even aware of, let alone successfully treat like Dr. Guillory does. Dr. Guillory also has several excellent holistic nutrition therapists on staff that are able to work closely with him as he works with patients. This is an incredible asset to his practice, and I'm very impressed by the way he's integrated them into his office and made them available to patients. I've been seeing Dr. Guillory since 2011. He is an excellent doctor, genuinely and personally interested in his patients. He has an "integrated" approach to medicine, which means that he works with the whole body, healthy foods and supplements, and other treatments, instead of just writing a slew of prescriptions to try to get rid of health problems. (Of course, he writes prescriptions when they are needed.) But the integrated approach works! At this point, I've lost over 30 pounds and increased my overall health tremendously with hardly any effort simply by removing wheat from my diet. Five stars isn't enough! There is so much more to this practice than meets the eye. Dr. Guillory uses conventional medicine and a holistic approach together. He looks at the whole body rather than at each symptom. This is a lost art in medicine today because doctors are trained now to a Standard of Care which looks only at a symptom and treats only that symptom with pharmaceuticals. This bandaid method falls way short of a cure for the real cause. Most times our symptoms are signs of bigger problems but with conventional medicine and a specialist for every body system, it is difficult to impossible to really find out your health problem using this method. This practice is amazing because they get to the bottom of what is really wrong with you instead of doing general testing and blood work and then just handing you a prescription. I came in for a myriad of symptoms and in two weeks had a total turn around. They also use a nutritional approach, recognizing that the food we put in our bodies has EVERYTHING to do with our health. They show you how to incorporate better nutrition into your lifestyle which builds your immune system and strengthens your overall health. I am a medical student that just finished working with Dr. Guillory and the Care Group for the past 2 months. Dr. Guillory practices functional medicine using diet and supplements to "remove what is making you sick and replace what you are deficient in." Reflecting back, I realized I can't even count the number of people that said his approach had truly changed their lives. I've worked with Doctor Guillory for a few years. While I like what he's trying to do with his practice, I've found The bone he has to pick with the medical establishment has unbalanced his approach to treatment. Not all things we know are supported by research but some are and should be considered for treatment. If someone needs an antibiotic or some of other standard treatment for an ailment, it should be considered as a possible solution. read more

Dr Guillory is an excellent doctor! I had been struggling with horrible health issues related to my total thyroid removal 14 years ago due to papillary cancer. I had seen several endocrinologists over the years who always said I was fine based on my numbers, meanwhile I felt terrible! Dr Guillory tests your whole throid panel (which most endocrinologists don't) and by doing so diagnosed my issues and got me on the road to recovery. That was 2 years ago. One of the reasons I hated to move from Denver was because I had to give up Dr Guillory and his team. When I first got to Denver I was referred by my son- in-law . I thought I was going to die and got no help from western medicine including the almighty John Hopkins Team. I had terrible abdominal pain , could not even drink water , belched all the time, had headaches and cold hands . I had lost a great deal of weight and only was getting worse . Dr guillory immediately diagnosed me with IBS, leaky gut and severe Gastritis. I followed his "Leaky Gut "protocol and started feeling better within a couple of weeks and ultimately fully cured . I had several follow ups and ultimately began seeing his NP Debra for general care . Very professional and a real competent NP with a great bedside manner. I follow the protocol occasionally when I have overstepped my boundaries with the wrong foods . But essentially I am a new person. Boy does this practice ROCk! Dr. Gulliroy did not review the lab tests that we had brought in so was unaware of important markers. When I asked him more questions related to this he seemed a bit offended that I was pushing for more answers. Then he had to admit that he had missed looking at the thyroid hormone tests. This seemed to embarrass him. Instead of him pausing and apologizing and actually taking a through look at the results, he seemed more upset with us for his being embarrassed. He has an agenda, which is leaky gut, so instead of actually discussing our concern--excess thyroid hormone--he pushed the concept that all of the health issues currently experienced were due to leaky gut. Then we met with the nutritionist who tried to get us to buy a supplement with iodine. The issue we came in about was a concern with excess thyroid hormone, so a supplement with iodine may be contraindicated. But since the only concern here appears to be to sell you over priced supplements to treat leaky gut, why would they be concerned that something may be contraindicated. They did not answer our questions regarding excess thyroid hormone. It would have been better to go see a conventional doctor instead of going to a place that is supposedly functional, but will still not listen to your concerns or look at your tests throughly. read more

I found Dr. Guillory after searching for a physician who understands thyroid disease, and would treat it properly. Someone who does not diagnose and treat based on the TSH, but who would support optimal levels of FT3, and FT4, and who understands all of the necessary tests that should be run. Dr. Guillory is a functional medicine physician, so his approach is whole body wellness. His specialty is IBS, so be prepared to spend money on natural supplements, and to change your diet if necessary. I am pleased to say, that Dr. Guillory has brought my thyroid function up close to where it should be, after several years of poor treatment under another doctor. We're working on a few other things, that will hopefully bring it up to optimal levels. The supplements he sells seem to be very good quality, and have for the most part, worked very well. He does not seem to be intimidated by well informed patients, which seems to be a rare quality in a physician. My only complaint, is that his office is quite a distance to travel to, but for optimal health, is something I'm willing to compromise on. read more
