The food: 3 stars The service: 4 stars It was a great find on a local solid, reasonable priced Italian restaurant today. Good impression walked in seeing a smiling strong (physically) male host greeted us. Quickly felt warm homey neat setting. In seconds transported to a local eatery in Rome, Italy. The food came out in decent time of waiting one after another. Each one of them brought us more wows and heart-felt smile. Generous portions, vibrate colors, and beautiful wholehearted presentation. I liked my fillet of sole. Light minimum dressed, moist yet remained sea flavor. I asked steamed veggies without olive oil ( over steamed though but it did not affect my appetite for my sole). My son s Margherita pizza was oily and toppings were running around. It made the bottom crust somewhat wet. The experience could be much much better if the bottom crust could remain it crispiness, like his margherita pizza in Rome. However, it was good enough for him to consume 80% of the pie. The calamari was very good as well, fresh crispy and coated, seasoned just right. The rest of dishes were all decent. Our host and our waitress were appropriate. They came to check on us a few times in a right amount of time. So you won't feel disturbed or lacking attention. They both were in a nice soft tones. A good local family meal spot. read more

As someone who lives far from Glen Cove, it's always a treat to visit family there as I get to eat Lorenzo's pizza. On New Year's Eve we were all starving and it was early enough that restaurants were still open so I decided it's time to grab a delicious pie from Lorenzo's. For months now I've been craving a pizza just like this, not overly salty, a dough that's not super thin yet holds its own shape and is also crispy, and is cheesy enough but not sloppy. Somewhere around 3-3.5 stars. We got a regular pie and garlic knots, and while a solid pizza, it is pretty basic. I could get a similar pie in so many neighborhoods around Long Island. Nothing really stands out about the dough, sauce or cheese. None of it was bad but nothing that really made any of them special enough for people to drive to Glen Cove (which anyone that has. Had to drive up Cedar Swamp Road knows can be a nightmare) if you are not from the neighborhood. OMG, I just seem to have the luck to just find these restaurants that are just amazing. I have a show performance tonight at My Father's Place in Glen Cove so this is why I am in the area. I need a place to get something before the show and I happened to come advertise Lorenzo's Italian restaurant and pizzeria. When you walk in, to know right away that you are in the right place just by the smell of sauce and pizza in the air. The restaurant is a very pleasant place to be with some wonderful decorations, a feel of being in Italy!! I was then more amazed when I saw their dishes, it brought back to the 70's when I worked at Lenny's Clam Bar in Smithtown. Those white dishes with the green stripes along the perimeter! Many memories. Victoria my waitress was very nice and her service Amazing. I started with the baked clams that were just amazing. Whole clams (7) with plenty of that juice to dunk your warm and toasty Italian bread in! No diet tonight! For dinner, I went with my usual favorite, the break pan with a side of linguini. The portion was very generous, hot and delicious! Everything about this place is amazing! They even have a covered patio that you could sit at outside. Once seated, our lovely waitress brought us some water with lemon and a basket of hot Italian bread. Two of us started off with some Fried Calamari as appetizer. The portion was huge as the waitress brought it to our table. Lightly battered and perfectly fried, these crispy bites dipped in some marinara sauce tasted absolutely delightful. We finished less than half of the order to save room for the rest of the meal. Our entrees were Chicken Parmigiana and Linguine in White Clam Sauce. The parm was delicious. Tender and moist white meat covered in their zesty tomato sauce, along with plenty of melted mozzarella. Yummy! The linguine was a not as al dente as I like. However, the sauce was quite flavorful with chunks of chopped clams, albeit a little too watery. We had too much food and didn't even finish half. Our server was very friendly, even giving us extra bread and marinara sauce while packing. As for bang for your buck, this was a tasty meal that will take care of both lunch and dinner. We love this place. The whole staff is very inviting and always happy to see you upon arrival. Fresh warm bread is spot on every time. Drinks are served fast and replenished before needing to ask. We started with the coconut shrimp. Large, cooked perfectly and great dipping sauce. Beet salad is fantastic. The beets were roasted a little along with Gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, craisins, spinach & mixed greens with a creamy balsamic. Had to take half home it was huge. Our son had the personal pizza and we had the grilled chicken with burnt broccoli. Nobody makes it better. The Fettuccine Josephine was a winner. I wanted to give 3 and a half stars but I couldn't so I pushed it to 4 based on the pizza. We have never been here before and heard good things so we decided to check it out at 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. The counter people greeted us as we looked at the pizza. We were originally going to just have a few slices but someone wanted pasta so we opted to sit. We were told to pick a table, as it was empty. It looked clean and a waiter came over immediately. We got drinks out the case which were 3 dollars each. They were brought over with glasses of ice. I ordered a regular slice and a vodka slice. My child had mozzarella sticks (6), and my fellow diner ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Everything came out together as requested and SUPER fast. The spaghetti must have been already made because it was not al dente at all. There were 2 meatballs, cut in half. They were very dense with not a lot of flavor. The sauce was tasty and plentiful. Half of that was taken home. The mozzarella sticks were "yummy" and disappeared. The regular slice was delicious. The cheese was not overly greasy, which leads me to believe it was not the cheap, cutting corners, cheese. It tasted good with the delicious and right amount of sauce. It was not too sweet and not too salty. There was a nice crust that held up to the fold and was not burnt in doughy. The vodka slice was also delicious. It wasn't a neopolitan round pizza, instead square. Not as thick as a Sicilian but not as thin as a grandma. The sauce was on top of the cheese and had great flavor. I just wished it was hotter. The service was good. A few customers came in to eat pizza in a booth and made a mess. I felt bad that someone had to clean up after them. The bill came with a total. I put my card in the thing and when the receipt came back to sign, the total changed. There was an added charge for using my DEBIT card. Not cool. But I was with company so I didn't make a stink. The total without tip was $44 and change. I tipped well. We will go back for more pizza but will make sure we bring cash. read more

Ok, I had to give this rating for the plain pie I ordered. The pizza has a great flavor to it. Clearly the sauce they used has a delicious seasoning to it. I just moved to Glen Cove and have been stumbling upon places to eat. I found Lorenzo's just from driving past it. While I have never dined in and have only ordered take out, the food is delicious. I've had the Margherita pizza and it was delicious. I have also had the Sicilian pizza and that was amazing as well. I've had their broccoli and pepperoni pinwheels and they are pretty big than I've ever eaten from other pizzerias. The staff is very attentive and friendly when I've picked up my order. My fist time dining was the best - subsequent visits were ok - there server is always great . Not always consistent with welcoming patrons and food quality - the large online orders were wrong the two times we ordered -better to order and pickup - look at orders before u take home to insure it is correct - every time we dine there the cappuccino machine doesn't work - their deserts are ehh - except for Cannoli which was good tonight we tried a veal dish which was swimming in oil and chicken Francese which was fresh and cooked perfect. I was disappointed in that I chose this place over our usual Riviera Grill because I received a text for 20% off which does not say take out only - and the Boss would not honor it - they should have specified not for dining In - or at least been a little more patron friendly when denying the discount - as this was the third disappointment in a four month period of dining there in house and or take out - I think I am going give this place a break and not return to eat In Or take out - we all have our favorite dining places - I prefer places that are more inviting and friendly , sadly we haven't ever felt welcomed in this place even though our server Karen is great! I recently moved to Glen Cove, September 2021. In early October, not being that familiar at all with this place, I had a small housewarming party, and because it was literally within walking distance of my new home, I decided to order a few pies from here. I ordered a Sicilian with meatball, and a plain. Not only did they deliver, it was on time, and piping hot, it was absolutely perfect! Since then, even with all the competition Glen Cove has to offer with respect to pizzerias, I always go here. Excellent food and service! I have to admit I am thrilled as far as the consistency of the pies and slices I get there. The crust is always crisp and the sauces are as it should be. Fried Calamari is a great appetizer to get and enough for two. I also like their salads like the Gorgonzola salad for example. The few entrees I have tried so far were also delicious and on the money and were also generous servings. As far as money goes it can add-up and be a bit pricey when dining-in for a full meal or selecting several Artisan style special slices but again they don't cut corners and you get what you pay for. The delivery took an hour and a half. We could have gotten past that if the food wasn't so terrible. The shrimp and broccoli in pink sauce came as shrimp and broccoli in melted butter. The tortellini brodo soup had no carrots or spinach. It was tortellini in broth. The burnt broccoli was ridiculously greasy. Even after we tried straining it in a strainer AND patting it with at least 6-7 paper towels the heads of the broccoli were saturated in heavy, thick, dripping grease. The salad came with (no exaggeration!) a teaspoon portion of salad dressing. So the salad was obviously very dry. The baked clams were extremely salty. And all of it was ICE COLD. Oh and they do not answer their phone! We absolutely do NOT recommend you try this spot. read more

To my fellow diners let me share my experience with Lorenzo's pizzeria. I had ordered a veal cutlet Parmesan dinner with a salad dressing on the side. The lady said that they put the dressing on the side fine. My son went to pick up the order to not to his knowledge there was no sauce it was just mozzarella cheese and two pieces of veal cutlet that was burnt. The chef told my son that was the way order. If I order sauce on the sauce was no source in the box. I called spoke to the woman and ask how your veal cutlet prepare. She could not understand that I didn't get sauce on the veal cutlet. My son went back show what I paid $24.00 for my dinner. I chef gave my son an attitude and left in a huff. The woman I spoke to on the phone did not come to calm the situation and as a customer she stayed away. I was afraid and my son felt the same that the chef would spit in my meal. I don't know if he would make another so I told my son to leave. Shame on Lorenzo's Pizzeria& restaurant. They had my phone number and did not make an effort to apologize for the miss understanding.
