Looking for dinner one night we read the reviews for Alter Simpl. They wrote of a quiet bar with good food - they weren't lying!! I highly recommend you stopping by here for dinner and a drink!! It was so good we came back the next night for drinks. The staff were very kind and gracious. Rinkal is a knowledgeable and kind bartender who can make an EXCELLENT drink! She's the best bartender in Europe! She even gave me a shot of one of Germany's favorite liquors! Daniel, in the kitchen, makes some of the tastiest food you'll eat! I had the corn fed chicken with mashed potatoes - it was a special - and was so so so good! I could eat that every day for the rest of my life. One thing to keep in mind, they don't accept credit cards, it's Euros only. The good news is the prices are very modest and reasonable. So if you're in Staufen, stop by this awesome little place! You won't regret it!!

We ended up eating here twice - and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. By the way, they don't take credit cards. Do yourself a favor and learn a little German before visiting - don't expect everyone to speak English. My wife had a chicken dish that she really liked, and though I don't quite remember what I had either visit, the atmosphere was nice - outdoor tables on a small alleyway let us get a feeling for this small town. Highly recommended.
