I previously took both salsa and bachata private lessons at the Corona location, which has since closed. The quality of instruction varied depending on the teacher--some were average, while others were excellent. It was really a matter of who you got. One instructor, unfortunately, had a habit of cutting my lesson time short if she was running late due to previous students. On one occasion, she even tried to delay giving me a receipt after I paid in cash, claiming she was short on time. I insisted on getting it immediately, which she reluctantly did. I suspect she felt she could get away with this behavior because I came in solo, without a partner. Thankfully, she no longer works there, so that shouldn't be a concern for future students. My next instructor, however, was fantastic. He often gave me extra time and his teaching was clear and effective. I really felt I got my money's worth with him. Overall, I'd say the studio is a great choice for salsa lessons. Bachata can be hit or miss, depending on which instructors are on staff. Lately, it's also been a bit more difficult to book private lessons. That said, I came in with two left feet and left with the confidence to dance the basics. If you find a good instructor, take full advantage and book as many lessons as you can--they might not be there forever. read more

Went to their social in Glendale for the first time in a long time and had a blast. Parking is difficult, so come a few minutes early to look for parking if you have class. People are friendly. My brother in law bought me 2 months worth of classes. It was okay the first few times, but the classes are crowded and you can barely move. If you're serious about learning how to dance, I don't think this is the place for you. There are other places that have a more intimate setting where the instructors can watch you thoroughly and help you with the steps. Because of the large class sizes and inability to cater to everyone, if you can't get a step down, the class will still move on. This felt like more of a hangout with a little bit of uncoordinated dance then anything else. They should have people sign up for classes as opposed to packing out the house. Also, the layout of the place is weird, it is long and narrow. There is also an area in the back that is elevated a couple of steps. This place is not ideal for a dance studio. Apologizing ahead of time for the essay I am about to write but I truly want to express how I feel how great they have been. I've always wanted to take classes at Lorenz. I drove by the studio so many times and wanted to see what all the hype was about. I didn't think I would last longer than a month or two. I started with a bachata class with a friend in October (instructor: David) and have been hooked ever since. Everyone is so friendly. From the front desk, to the talented instructors, to the helpful assistants and to the devoted owner. Prior to taking the class I was nervous about taking a class without a friend. After taking the bachata class and realizing how cozy and friendly the studio was, I signed up for a salsa class SOLO, no friend, just me, a bunch of eager strangers and our awesome Instructor (Chris G). It has been such an amazing experience and I am proud to say that I am officially and intermediate dancer. The instructors are soooo patient and so funny. They take their time and really pay attention to each student. I can not stress enough how great they are with their students. I was terrified of not being able to keep up and feeling embarrassed. This is the 2nd time i signed up for classes.. the first time I signed up with my parents and they had a blast. I didn't take it too seriously back then but since i've become a little rusty with the foot work, i decided to return. The place is a medium narrow-ish dance studio and believe me.. it gets really crowded. I learned alot more than i knew the first time and I hope that I learn more now that im more focused the second time. The first hour the instructors fit everyone in rows and you learn steps in front of a huge mirror. The second hour they line up the men and women to practice dancing with a partner. Then you switch to the next person and so on and so on. This place always got hot chicks.. and for the ladies.. it got men too (pause) oh by the way... My wife and I went for about 3 months. for the first couple of weeks, it was PACKED OUT! Classes are cheap, $45/person/month, and they really pack em in. people steadily dropped out as time progressed but it was still on the crowded side. Not too much opportunity for 1 on 1 instruction or pointers. Some friends of ours who are professional dancers said that we may be better off at a different school that has more experienced teachers and smaller classes. we ended up moving on and had a much better experience. bottom line, its crowded but VERY affordable. don't expect to become a super salsa king/queen but if you are looking for the basics, Lorenz is the right place. read more

I first went in to the Lorenz Latin Dance Studio 9 years ago. Chasing all of the wrong reason, my first stay while enjoyable was a short one. I remembered my first class where Howie Lorenz presented his spiel and he stated "if you meet someone or life gets in the way, we have a very long lease, you are always welcome back." I decided that my time to go back was in January of 2012. Starting at a little over 400 pounds, I decided that I needed to get something positive in my life that would be fun and have me burning calories in what was an attempt to save my life. I was picking up very fast in my class with my instructor Jose and he had told me that I would be eligible to participate in my first student dance team because although I was only 2 months in, he felt that I could quickly pick this up. One of the simple but intimidating requirements of joining this dance team was my commitment to not only learning dance but also attending every Friday night social in Glendale. I was nervous about doing so because I was not much of a social guy, I held up the walls at parties and could barely do a 2 step. But I wanted to try something new so I quickly signed my contract, which was one of the best decisions of my life. Friday night socials are meant for students to practice what they learn during their weekly classes and put these moves in use. With the help of the members of the Lorenz Latin Dance Team, Reflejo de Lorenz, Mambo Classico, Latin Fury and all of our instructors, many students ranging from beginners to super advanced get the help they need to progress, the confidence they need to take their first step on the dance floor and above all the satisfaction of having a great time. Wait.... im missing someone..... In the mix is the owner HOWIE LORENZ who attends every social and does not sit a song out. You hear that everyone, this man LEADS by EXAMPLE. I was very intimidated my very first time attending social but I was given immediate confidence by a beautiful young woman (she knows who she is) who asked me out to dance. That's how it is gentlemen... if you are scared to ask the girls out the dance, they will come at you, give you a nice smile and say hey lets dance.... and you cant turn down a beautiful lady!! From that moment I knew that I had made the right decision. Now that I am considered a veteran in this studio, I know that I have a lot to learn; a wise person knows that they do not know everything. I have found something that I love doing, learning to dance, dancing weekly at our socials and performing infront of people. Thats right.. for someone who thought that he was gonna quit after 2 months again, I have performed on 3 different student dance teams, starting my 4th one right now, I was chosen to be part of the Survival Challenge team, I have performed on 2 student bachata teams. I have performed on 2 hip hop teams. I have performed at parks, concerts, venues and performed on live television. What an honor. Lorenz Latin Dance studio offers a wide variety of programs.... they offer cha-cha, merenge, bachata, salsa and hip hop classess for all ages and levels. They offer weekly zumba classes for the workout buffs and beginners. Let me wrap this up. Lorenz Latin Dance Studio SAVED MY LIFE. Yes I said it. IT SAVED MY LIFE. I joined lorenz latin dance studio after a difficult time in my life. I recently lost my father, I lost my young nephews and neice who I had helped raise since they were born. I lost the only apartment I had known as home. I was unemployed, practically homeless, my house got robbed of all of my possession on the day my father was in the hospital passing. I was severely over weight. Not only do I have a home (with my aunt carmen) but i also have a second home (lorenz latin dance studio). I gained more family members at this studio (they know who they are) I gained the confidence that I could do anything that I put my mind to. I lost over 130 pounds at this dance studio with the help of Jose Mariscal and Chris Molina (my salsa instructors) Miss Erika Lopez (my zumba instructor) Chris Guzman and Erika (my hip hop instructors), Ashley, Edwin, Jonathan and David Corchado (my bachata instructors), Keno (my survival team coach) and Howie Lorenz for providing the platform for these young talented individuals to help not only myself but countless others. I often assist new members in their beginner classes, I assist and dance with beginners or people interested in joining the studio. I started six months ago and I can't see myself stopping! I love to dance and it feels great! My instructor has been Christopher Guzman who has been amazing! Take advantage of those social nights no matter how little or much time you have! I joined their dance team and will be performing in July which I am a little nervous, but with practice and great leadership, I'll be successful. This is the first time I ever taken any type of dance class. I've registered for the Beginner Salsa class on Friday night. I was really nervous, but when I entered the studio the staff immediately made you feel welcomed. They provide many instructors to help with our large class size. I love this place! Its the best place in Queens to take lessons! this is my 3 time starting from the start due due to personal issues and now I am getting back into the swing of things and I love it! I have friends there that are like they are a part of my family and the teachers are great! It's a nice place and the material they teach is ok. However, they dont teach technique and they do so many things in one class that its impossible for the instructor to teach real technique. I recommend this studio for intermediate dancer who have real previous experience. However, this studio is no, no for beginners. read more
