Coming into Sedona for a destination wedding was filled with uncertainty, as we had never been here…read morebefore and didn't know anyone in the area. I originally called my local Men's Wearhouse, but it meant that I would have to pick up my suit in Phoenix, which was not practical. Instead I did a google search for a men's clothing retailer in Sedona and found Richard David for Men. I called and spoke to Jeffrey, the owner, who was very personable. We were able to work out a deal over the phone and through an catalog that he expedited through the mail. I had my measurements taken locally and reported them over the phone to Jeffrey. He was confident that I would be satisfied with my suit rental. Upon entering his shop, I was greeted by Jeffrey and shown the suit, which fit me nearly perfectly. Only one small alteration had to be made, which his girlfriend Laura was able to complete quickly. The suit was stunning and comfortable and Jeffrey and Laura assured me that they were there for me if I needed anything. Their customer service was top notch and went above and beyond anything I expected. Their level of service, professionalism, and product quality was worth far more than the $170 I spent on my suit. Jeffrey offered me what I felt was a bargain and with impeccable service. Jeffrey and Laura are business owners who truly treat their clients like real people. By the end of our stay in Sedona, I felt like we had made two friends in Jeffrey and Laura and I know that when my wife and I return to Sedona, we will pay them a visit. If you are getting married in Sedona and need a suit, shoes, or anything else clothing-related, stop by Richard David for Men. More businesses should operate this way. Well done!

The clothing, shoes, accessories were different from home (KC) and definitely make you feel alive. In my opinion, the clothing is more for someone is more than twenty-something, but definitively not wanting to look old. This being said, the shoes are for all adult ages if you want your shoes to look like fun. I ended up pitching a light loose weave coverup for a tabletop. When I showed it to my husband, he immediately said yes to get it and I want really supposed to spend money due to tight finances right now. His quick yes, tells you he really liked it for me. Glad I finally made it in and will go back.

But don't expect a friend the next day if you try to return a dress that ripped within the first few minutes of wearing. Marsha, the elderly store manager at both Dahling It's You and Isn't She Lovely, spent a lot of energy trying to get my friend and I to buy expensive jackets on Thursday, even taking photos of us. (BTW, my friend's nature is so polite that I've seen her refuse to complain when there was a long hair in her food at a restaurant.) When we returned Friday with the dress (that had ripped when she sat down in the car), Marsha was immediately so hostile --as soon as she saw us walking in with a bag--I was stunned. "You don't possibly expect me to take back a dress you've worn--I'm KNOW you don't--when you know you can mend this yourself!" When I suggested the store IS responsible for selling a subpar item, she said this had NEVER happened in all the years they've been selling those dresses. She condescendingly suggested my friend might be lying...maybe it got caught in the door, etc. She pushed the item back across the counter and refused to offer even a discount for my friend's trouble. "There's nothing we can do for you." She had us over a barrel. We'd walked in with smiles, hardly said anything during Marsha's attack and treated her with respect, and walked out in shock. Everyone has bad customer service stories but this woman's attitude was over the top disrespectful, insulting and rude. Time for her to retire!

While there were definitely some unique and high-quality pieces, many of the items--especially the jewelry--were priced in the hundreds and even into the thousands, which caught me off guard. One thing I really appreciated was how the clothing was organized by size. That made browsing much easier and more efficient, especially if you're on a time crunch. The store also carries furniture and other items, and everything is thoughtfully displayed--the presentation is clean, curated, and visually appealing. That said, it just wasn't what I personally was looking for. I came in hoping to thrift and score budget-friendly finds, so the pricing and overall vibe didn't quite match my expectations. If you're looking for curated, higher-end secondhand pieces, this might be your spot--but if you're hunting for true thrift deals, you may leave a bit disappointed like I did.
