I ate here in a pinch after realizing my chosen restaurant was just a takeaway place, and I wanted…read moresomething better to see myself off from Ireland. So I at least accomplished that. The seafood chowder here is yet another variation - I only saw fish in there although the menu said shellfish, but there were large chunks of fresh and smoked fish. Since their posted specials (outside) are only available on weekends (thanks, sign - but at least they were honest about it before bringing me anything I had to pay for), I tried the posh fish & chips. It was pretty good - definitely not your usual fish & chips, and the portion was deceptively decent. The sauce was too light on flavour and portion to really work with the potatoes, which were perfectly crisped Irish golds by the way. The fish was crispy outside and had the hint of cured/salty-smoky on the inside, definitely a lighter smoke on the salmon than you might get in Canada or New York. I washed it down with something else you don't really see in the states, Smithwicks pale ale. (Unlike most Irish pubs, there were mostly lighter beers here, pales and lagers, with Guinness holding down the dark side alone.) Nothing to write home about, but at least I ended the day on a high note.

Pub/Restaurant: Typical Irish pub, with a lovely fireplace, huge selection of beer, wine and lovely food. Can only recommend. The personnel is really friendly, making you feel like at home, awaiting with a smile :) Highly recommend!!!

I was dropped off in a lovely little village and happened upon The Lord Mayors during my walk. My friends and I were greeted by a very friendly waitress. I had my pint of Guinness and a yummy order of BBQ wings. My friends ordered Irish Creams and bar food as well. The service was excellent and the bar was quite cozy.

I got a kick out of seeing what appeared to be 1/2 liter beer/ale glasses but then it WAS a pub in Ireland. The prices were what I considered excellent as well. A bonus was the table full of what I would guess to be local musicians playing "traditional" Irish music, accordions, lots of guitar, a guy with 8-10 various flutes, tin whistles etc, another gentleman had various harmonica's, a drum (Bodhran) player and one of the guitar players had an Irish bouzouki - mandolin - lute kinda thingy that sounded beautiful. In all there were at various times from 9-12 players in all. The session was wonderful, playing the typical goodbye to love forever mixed with foot tapping let's be happy variety of tunes. Growing up listening to Irish music, I felt very much at home sitting there and it fit perfectly with the overall atmosphere of the pub, more like a gathering of friends not seen in a long time verses the euro-centric chic feeling of other places we happened across. If in Swords you could do a lot worse I'm sure, while not an expert on the Irish Pub scene, as I mentioned earlier this was an Irish American's mental image of of a night in Dublin.

It was so noisy which i know makes me sound ancient but we were having a meal and I literally had to struggle to hear the person sitting next to me. There were also people dancing right beside our table which is really disconcerting when you are eating The food was nothing memorable either good or bad and it's not cheap. The service was very quick but annoyingly as soon as we finished our main course they brought us the bill with no offers of desert or teas/coffees. When we asked they said no that the kitchen was closed. This was a little irritating as we had not been there very long and they didn't tell us when we booked or ordered. I think if they take a booking for a table at 9PM then they need to keep the kitchen open to accommodate that. There was no apology it was just matter of fact. Don't think i'll be back

First thing that hit mevsas the prices. I mean, everything is expensive on the menu, across the board. Like Celtic Ireland prices man!! I went for the Chicken Supreme as I hadn't had it in ages plus the sweet potato and Cajun jus got me interested. The portion was pretty massive and the food was decent. Was disappointed with the sweet potato though, pretty bland tbh. So overall, it's okay but not worth the dosh doled out for me.
