This was our second visit with this excellent physician at Sutter Urgent Care in Folsom. She is exceptionally empathetic, thorough, calm, knowledgeable, engaged, and kind. She took the time to review my wife's extensive medical history and long list of medications, carefully considering all possible causes of her condition. Her consultative style shows the utmost respect for the patient's own experience and understanding of their health. I was deeply impressed watching her do everything she could to help my wife. Several hours after our visit Dr. Jay followed up with my wife over the phone to share lab results and make sure my wife is OK. I unfortunately cannot recommend Dr. Jay to anyone, especially if you are in pain. Dr. Jay is a Suboxone pusher and she's proud of it. She will refer you to the renowned Stanford Suboxone Pain Management Clinic where they will offer you Suboxone and IV Ketamine infusions. The first drug was FDA approved for ADDICTION management not PAIN management in a shorter time than all other drugs and the other is a former street drug with serious safety issues neither is FDA approved for pain management; Suboxone, street name "prison heroin" is approved for addiction treatment. So Dr. Jay considers all pain management patients addicts, which is a world different than physically dependent and a morally bankrupt idea. She scheduled me for an EKG knowing full well I was nearly homebound then scheduled herself off that day and disallowed the medical assistant to perform an EKG without her there. I'm a retired nurse and there is zero reason for a Dr. to be present during an EKG. And this after she made me wait over 2 hours to see her just 3 days prior to the EKG incident. She performed a joint injection in my knee creating a cyst in my knee which I promptly scheduled an appointment to be seen for. I circled the cyst in red marker so she could see it, it was obvious, and she claimed to NOT be able to see it (4 other Dr.'s did); negligence and lie #1. I caught her lying to me when she stated she wanted to talk to my therapist so I happily provided her number for Dr. Jay. Lie #2 she wrote the wrong number (I re-gave it to her); lie #3 she stated my therapist hadn't called her back (I checked with my therapist, no call); lie #4 ,the final lie, she stated my therapist's voice mail was full (checked with my therapist, she checked all her incoming phone records, no call from Dr. Jay). She may go the distance for other diagnoses but if you have any pain at all you are on your own with Dr. Jay, she is dishonest and will waste your time while your illness goes untreated and ignored. All of this occurred within 3 months. MAKE NO MISTAKE, LONI JAY, MD CONSIDERS THOSE WITH CHRONIC PAIN TO BE ADDICTS. SHE HAS ZERO INTEREST IN TREATING PAIN AND WILL REFER YOU TO A BIGGER SUBOXONE CLINIC CALLED STANFORD PAIN MANAGEMENT. ANY ATTEMPT TO TREAT PAIN WITH SUBOXONE IS OFF LABEL, NOT APPROVED FOR PAIN TREATMENT MEANING YOU ARE NOW HER HUMAN GUINEA PIG. SUBOXONE IS A WEAK ANALGESIC. Dr. Jay is literally the best doctor I have EVER had! Which is saying a lot, because I have been through over 20 surgeries and have multiple chronic illnesses, including chronic pain. She is first and wholeheartedly kind and concerned about her patients! She is the only doctor who has made real, non-judgmental efforts to help control my pain in a way that empowers me to make good decisions but still encourages me (with very practical solutions) to reduce the overall level of meds. This is critical for long term goals in pain management, or a patient will just keep taking more and more and more and it will be less effective over time, resulting in frustration for both doctor and patient. Anyhow-she is also very sharp! I have very complex, difficult issues. Many doctors just get a glazed look when I tell them my history; it can be overwhelming. But doctor Jay took my issues head on. She gets the complexities of having multiple, serious health problems and understands that not all patients fit the "protocols". She treats the whole person-not just the disease of the day that I may be complaining about. I never have to worry that she may be missing something, as I do with many other doctors. I'm sure many of her patients know how kind and pleasant she is. Many patients may not know how smart and skilled she is because they (thankfully) have not had to put her skills to the test. I have-and she blows the test out of the water! She has an air of "We can and will fix this!" that permeates any problem she encounters. That confidence comes from her technical capabilities. Enough said. (Well, really never enough said, when it comes to recognizing and thanking Dr. Jay!) Dr. Jay and her MA, Katie have made a huge. positive, comforting impact on my life and I'm sure many others. They never make me feel like I'm a pest, which unfortunately some doctors do. They are awesome at follow up and always return my calls the same day. They listen to my concerns and come up with often innovative, and always effective solutions. She explains things in a way that is easy to understand and lets you know that she is open to other solutions if her idea doesn't work for you. She always takes plenty of time with me-and I'm sure she must with her other patients. That almost always makes a doctor chronically running late-but she is always on time. I don't know how she does it all. Oh wait, yes I do! She's also a very hard worker! I really can not say enough good things about her; but I have to go now! Dr. Jay is hands down the best doctor I've ever seen. She genuinely cares about the well being of her patients. She has helped countless people have a life again. She's dedicated to what she does and is happy to be there. She out there saving lives on a daily basis. Despite being extremely busy she makes as much time as we as patients need. It's not at all about pushing Suboxone like one naive reviewer said. It's about helping us have a real chance at life and make a positive change. She's helped me treat mental health problems I've struggled with my whole life and she did it discreetly in a manner that shows she cares and she doesn't leave you feeling ashamed to be different. Some doctors will treat you like a pariah for have mental health issues. She genuinely cares. She makes you feel welcome and wanted, the entire staff does. The staff is incredible and the whole clinic is just an amazing place. I have never encountered health care practicioners like them. It's not just a job and paycheck to any of them. They all seem to really want to be there helping us. I've never felt rushed, mistreated, judged, or improperly cared for. They're all extremely well versed in there field of medicine. One lady made a one star review I can assure you that it's pretty much nothing but lies. That's why I had to make this review. I was astonished somebody would say that nonsense about dr.jay. She's a wonderful human being, and she is far beyond just being skilled and intelligent in what she does. I'd be dead by now if I hadn't been lucky enough to reach out to the cares clinic.
