Despite that, the gardener later attempted to significantly increase the biweekly rate, citing fuel expenses. This was unexpected, especially given the upfront cost I had already paid. There were also repeated issues accessing the backyard because tenants did not leave the gate unlocked, which led to overgrowth and additional work. While I understand the difficulty, communication about these access problems was not consistent. Without timely updates, I couldn't address the issue with the tenants.Sanitation problems were another concern. Dog feces were often left in the yard by the tenants, but again, I wasn't consistently informed, which limited my ability to correct the situation. Additionally, multiple sprinkler heads were damaged during the period of service, something I had never experienced with previous gardeners.Ultimately, the gardener resigned abruptly, citing the access and sanitation issues. While I understand the challenges he faced, the lack of consistent communication and the property damage made the service less reliable than expected.

I got three quotes from local businesses for the work and Martinez Brothers had the best price by far. They mowed the front and back yard and cleaned up some weeds in the driveway. They also blew out the dust and cut grass on the sidewalk and curb strip. I think they did a great job at a good price. The person who owns the home is quite picky and was insistent her 4 or 5 plants in the back yard did not get mowed over. Juan not only knew what all the plants were, but was careful to avoid them. The homeowner was also hoping they would trim the overgrowth from the neighbors plants and blow out the patio but overall everyone was happy. Martinez Brothers also offered an excellent rate for bi-weekly maintenance but due to finance issues and anxiety about not always knowing the exact day and time someone would be there, she decided not to take that offer.
