Too unimpressed to make this review read well. Patchy service (three different people asked me if I wanted water...) The baked scallop sounded promising, but was just a half shell of briney-cheese. The prawn wonton soup was ok. I haven't met a wonton I didn't like, but the 'superior broth' was far from superior. It lacked flavour. A lot of flavour... Truffle fried rice was unnecessary and overbearing. The wok fried Angus was made from cheap cuts of meat, tough and gristle-y. And the vegetables were just halved (raw) French onions. The best part of the meal was the Prosecco in a plastic glass.

Prior to coming to Brisbane I did some pretty extensive research on the places that I absolutely had to visit, and atop virtually every list right there next to Julius Pizzeria was Longtime. Thus, I made it a point to pay an evening visit and was glad that I did. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? You'll need to either arrive early or make a reservation for a shoulder time, but even on a Sunday I was able to slot in a 1730 reservation for two maybe four hours prior. Upon arriving my co-worker and I were surprised to find we were the only ones there, but within two hours the place was entirely jammed with a massive line out front. Wait and reservation logistics aside, both the service and atmosphere at Longtime were tremendous, and while it got pretty loud, this is clearly a well run machine. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Longtime most definitely charges a premium given their reputation, but the breadth of the menu and the execution of their dishes make it a premium that's warranted. $39.00 AUD was a hefty sum for a main, but it was a good quantity of curry and thus not a ridiculous price point. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Everything at Longtime was good, although I'll admit that none of the dishes really blew away my high expectations set for Thai food especially in Australia. For starters the buns were excellent little bite sized treats, and from there the curry was excellent. The fat fried rice noodles were good, but I've had better Thai noodle dishes. In conclusion, Longtime dishes up excellent Asian cuisine, but I won't go as far as to say it's among the best I've had. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? The atmosphere and menu breadth alone get me fired up about Longtime. Star.

As far as Asian restaurants in Brisbane go, it's rare to find somewhere that charges a premium price and actually manages to deliver - LONgTIME is one of the few that definitely does. Nestled in an alleyway next to Birdee's and some restaurants, this is one of the few places I'd ignore my general eschewing of the clichéd 'hidden gem', because it truly is one. The atmosphere is great, the wine list is extensive and inspired, the staff are friendly, but most of all, the food is great. I've been here a few times but I always manage to order the same dishes that have blown me away - the soft shell crab bao, the egg net salad with pork, prawn and lychee, and the Penang curry. The first time I had the Penang I couldn't stop thinking about it for the next week and endeavoured to knock up my own. Suffice to say it was nowhere near as impressive as LONgTIME's, and it's incredibly hard to come close to the succulence of the beef. Despite the price point, it's surely a must-try to anybody who considers themselves a fan of Asian food.

What can I add other than a pic of my DELISH GF appetizer! Sat at the bar, loved it. Order the whole fish! Magnificent meal. Can't wait to go back.

After trying and failing to get a table at Longtime for almost five months, I finally made it on a Sunday night. Even on a Sunday, Longtime was packed with large groups at long tables, and diners seated at the bar. I got some prime seating, watching the chefs compile all the dishes in the kitchen-adjacent bar seats. Longtime is difficult to get into for a reason: the food is fresh, delicious, inspired and definitely not the standard fare you expect at a Thai restaurant off China Town. I chowed down on the banana flower salad - a dish of shredded chicken, light chilli, and shredded vegetables with a flavour similar to somtum. At $18 it was filling and certainly enough for one. I paired this with the crunchy pork belly (from the sides menu). At $18, this too was plenty filling with crispy pork and crackling, tossed in a savoury dressing with chilli and vegetables. It was literally all I could do not to Hoover it down all to myself! Longtime also serve a variety of really good cocktails. This surprised me - I'd been expecting maybe some dodgy pina coladas or a wine menu with beers. I sipped on an aviation and another gin based drink with a strange name about monkeys with gimlets... But strange names aside, they were fabulous! At $18 a pop they're as pricey as the dishes and aren't large sizes... But they do the trick very well. Overall - I say go to Longtime. Brave the 45minute plus wait. It's worth it.

Truly fabulous experience at Longtime. Was eating alone tonight and they thoughtfully seated me in a location to observe the kitchen. What a unique and appreciated experience. The flavors were amazing and the kitchen operated so smoothly. From the bentel leaf with sticky rice and mango to the isan taco with eggplant to the special salted pork belly pad see ew, the favors were fresh and well paired. Cannot speak highly enough about the attentive wait staff. Truly an amazing and appreciated experience in Brisbane. Simply world class.

Absolutely stand out, authentic Asian cuisine!! The best meal I have had in a longtime (sorry, couldn't help myself). Very friendly wait staff who ensured I was well looked after with a wonderful mocktail in the outdoor bar area while I waited for my dining companions. We shared 4 dishes...all perfect combination of flavours. Only negative is that it is VERY noisy...bit please don't let that stop you from enjoying these taste sensations :)

Fragrant funky and fun, longtime is a hidden door to delicious food and divine cocktails. Let the chef decide on your menu for the evening and take your tastebuds on a voyage of discovery. The menu is an array of delicious interesting dishes. One visit is not enough!

Could Longtime live up to the expectations of a restaurant with 5 star reviews? Yes it could! We visited on a Friday night, there are no bookings after 7pm so we waited for a table in the Alley outside. I expected the alley to be self service but they waited the tables with drinks. So although we had to wait nearly an hour to get a table inside it was a pleasant wait. It you want a quick meal, in and out, Longtime probably isn't the best place as its so popular. Once we got Inside the flavours assaulted our nose, the food smelled devine! It has a very Chin Chin like decor and finish. In fact other than it was Thai influenced food the whole restaurant felt similar or modelled off the Chin Chin style. That's a good thing as in my opinion, Chin Chin is one of the best restaurants in Australia. The service was very good although we did notice it was a little inconsistent in getting the drinks. It was the only issue we had. The food was amazing, we started with the soft shell crab buns, prawn tacos and the cuttlefish. Our favourite was the soft shell crabs won but the rest wonderful as well. Next was the Red Curry Duck and the Crying Tiger Waygu beef. The Red Curry had a real kick so be warned. All the food was fabulous and had a real good mixture of different flavours. A lot of people stuck around after there meal having drinks with others coming in after 10pm looking for a late night meal. All in all it was an awesome night, not perfect but close enough not to quibble and give Longtime less than a five star rating.

Perfect spot for a date or just a regular Wednesday evening with a friend. You really can't beat it. The lounges are available for a fee, but grabbing a spot on the rail is perfect as that really is the best view. I haven't had any of the food/tapas, but as I'm a big fan of craft cocktails, this is one bright shining star on my list!
