While I have had good experiences in the past with friendly service and able to get what I need, lately it has been terrible! There is only one employee at a time and the shelves are wiped out. I asked the gal at the counter (after a long wait) , she said no, they just don't have the staff to stock! I also tried to make an appointment for a Covid booster, as I have gotten there before but never received a call back after leaving messages 2 days in a row. They never answer the phone but promised to call back within the hour. It's been several days now. I've given up on them. I hope they are able to hire enough staff to run the store properly. It would be really sad for our community to lose them.

KTA Express, you're a lifesaver!…read more I came to the KTA Express store twice in recent weeks, and this store/supermarket totally saved me from having to drive back in town (Kailua-Kona) to buy something I sorely needed. I was working at a local bank next door doing some lock work when I realized I needed a few 9-volt batteries to fix something. Being that I was traveling, and did not have access to all my normal gear, I asked the bank people where was the nearest store? Originally I was worried that I might have to drive all the way back to Kailua-Kona to get what I needed, but luckily KTA had a store in Kealakekua. Walked over to the KTA store, as it was just a hop, skip, & jump away from the local bank (where I was working). Got what I needed, and time & resources were saved that day! Last week Thursday I found myself back in Kealakekua working at a credit union this time. No, I didn't need anything in particular for the credit union this time, but after finishing the job at the credit union, the KTA store was very convenient for me to get some drinks & some grub. Apparently the KTA Express has a vendor - L&L Drive-In that does pre-made - ready to eat bentos. Some of the items looked pretty good, so I decided to give it a shot & picked up a mini BBQ Chicken & Noodle Bento. The mini bento was pretty tasty, and best part of it all is that I didn't have to go far to get my lunch grub. KTA Express in Kealakekua, you're a lifesaver! Lol!

Parking: They have a small parking lot. Very easy to find. Free parking. This was a large market. It had everything a grocery store provided, but products were a bit more expensive than usual. I walked around and noticed there were fresh fruits in their grocery section. They also had fun snacks in the freezer section. We found everything we needed to restock for the rest of our trip.

Their pharmacy is very tight quarters but they seem to work well as a team. Amazing the quantity they handle .... though some drugs are too 'exotic' for such a small location. In addition to the resident populace of Waikoloa (well over 3500), many of which are retired and need a variety of medications, there are a large amount of vacation travelers who also have odd needs. KTA is a small outfit and cannot meet the needs of many , but they do handle substantial. Longs or Foodland in Waimea has what this little pharmacy doesn't though , and they're only 20 minutes away.

I had my shot there and i had to sit in a grocery aisle with people walking within a foot of me. I noticed no masks or gloves on cashiers and a big advertising policy that said the opposite. ..be safe etc. Now recently i noticed again that the pharmacy has really bad sanitation procedures. For example, they don't clean the key pad or the pen used for most transactions. The associates dont wear masks and are in close proximity with each other, and with a hundred potentially very ill people daily. I commented and the reply was 'we dont have to'. Associates hand product to a customer, customers maybe hand it back with germy hands. i watched as someone wiped their nose then handed money over. So..I called the company and they had someone call me back. Reply? 'well if you dont like it take your business elsewhere.' no kidding. So..be very afraid. Not sanitizing is a company policy they defend. and besides is it a great idea to shop at a grocery store that has sick people walking through where kids and old folks might have risk from their big sneeze?
