I have been in many art classes at the school such as, Ceramics, Drawing and Painting, also AP Art. I also have participated in Drama Club and happened to be the club president in my senior year. I am someone who was into music as well. However, in terms of choir classes...I've noticed during my time at the school, many students in the choir are pretty pretentious I felt. Which in turn, caused me not to join. With how the school is structure-wise, I'm not really mad at it. It's more so the actual students I've come across and how the faculty deal with issues particularly regarding mental health. I wasn't really a "popular" kid, but wasn't that much of an outcast either. I was somewhere in between. When it came to the people I was hanging out with on a daily basis, we were doing things that normally people do in high school. Chill, hang out, and joke around. If I'm being honest, in high school, I was someone who had mental issues especially with suicidal ideations. Due to issues I had outside of high school at the time. Thankfully I'm not there mentally anymore. However, I didn't really have much support outside of my friends at the time. It felt hard to talk to somebody, but one day I brought it up to my counselor... Well after I did, it made things a lot worse. Essentially it separated me from my family, and I felt alienated from the students when I told them the issues I had at the time. A particular friend I had who I considered to be my best friend, I confided in her and I was basically shamed for it. The next day, she never spoke to me again after that. I had another friend, who actually was trying to get to the bottom root of the issue and I dismissed her which I still feel bad for. There was another person who I thought was a friend, but actually secretly did not like me. She was someone known to start drama. After these events happened, I was alienated from my main circle and others. Felt embarrassed during graduation day and overall I have mainly known people who are really deep down fake. Well, it's expected from a place like California. I was happy to leave considering I didn't have to see or talk to most of the people I knew there ever again. However, it feels bittersweet because while I don't want anything to do with this school or the memories associated...it feels tough to know that looking back I didn't have a good experience. Doesn't mean the school itself is horrible, it's the social life that came with it and how I was treated that did not feel good.

I was also severely depressed and 5150'd multiple times via the school, but they never put me on an IEP and I eventually dropped out during the covid pandemic. They don't care about students here.

I'm Mexican and my kids are taking mandarin at the school, so eventually they will be trilingual. I'm sure in other predominately Hispanic communities they offer Spanish. My son now speaks it, reads it and writes it and I am proud of that continued development. The teachers are all wonderful.

First of all, this establishment claims that it "empowers students to be innovative and creative problem solvers." However, this statement completely contradicts what I went through. When I was a freshman in high school, I was placed into an honors math class and felt that I was prepared for the year ahead of me. This honors class was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken even though I had taken the exact same class in eighth grade. My math teacher would often say that "You guys have seen this before" or "You guys should know how to do this from middle school." I didn't. I had no idea what I was doing when I got to high school and felt incredibly behind from all of my peers. The fact that the subject I felt the least prepared in was math coming from a self-proclaimed "STEM Academy" was beyond me. I know my limitations and math was not it. I had all A's in math while attending this school. One of the biggest things I NEVER learned in Algebra I at IC was mean/median/mode. I remember that everyone of my peers in that freshman year Honors Algebra I class already knew this from middle school.

She is also in sports and other key clubs that the school offers. As a strong leader, our principal has brought forth many new programs to IC like STEM and empowerment classes for our kids. I know that our principal always acts in the best interest of our students and strives to continue to bring great success to Immaculate Conception School. Being part of the IC School family motivates me to be involved because I enjoy the IC community and all that it stands for. I am definitely a proud parent of IC. This includes PTA meetings, fundraisers, programs that raise money for the school and overall participation in the activities of their children. I went to this school back in the day for my elementary days. A lot has changed as the classes have become more modernized and more up to date. The school has a large multipurpose field, two playgrounds, black top area, computer lab, library, basketball courts, outdoor seating and a cafeteria. There is also a separate day care center for day care as well as after school care. The teachers I had all retired from this school but they were monumental for my middle school and high school endeavors. In order to go to this school you must live in a certain radius. You can petition to go to this school if you're not in the radius. There is a drop off area to drop your kids off in front of the cafeteria but it does get busy when it is near school time. There is a crossing guard that is always looking out for children and parents so you don't have to worry about getting run over by the busy Mission Road/ Roses Road intersection. Coolidge is a CA distinguished school with high test scores year round. If you want a great elementary school and want to keep life long friends, this is the school to go to.

Not mention, they do not care about bullying my daughter briefly attended this school. Another girl kept calling her lesbian and spreader rumors. Playground aids knew of this, but nobody mandate reported the abuse. She also made threats to harm my daughter in the bathroom. Then I worked in special Ed, poor kids because they were pushed to do work like the general Ed. I'm talking about writing full essays, multiplication when they barely knew addition, the work load his extremely heavy why is why so many behaviors would occur. One kid threw chairs across the room, because he was frustrated and the teacher couldn't even handle him. Not to mention, there's no sensory room for these autistic kids, not enough music, fun stuff, and the teacher never wanted to listen to advice. I got fired for getting sick, I was bleeding on myself soiling my clothes at work and wore pajama pants a couple of times to hide my problem. My punishment was extreme, I'm no longer allowed to work at any monrovia schools. Also, I went above my job by actually playing with the kids, I made progress that even the teacher didn't cause I got autistic kids to play, I bought coloring books, arts-crafts, my student didn't even have book fair money I paid for his stuff, his family loved me, and so did the other kids I inspired them through art. Their loss!!! Please do not send your special needs children here they don't know what they're doing!
