I moved my daughter to this school (Rowland Heights site) when she was three years old. At her…read moreprevious preschool, she was frequently sick--she caught one illness after another for two months straight, and only attended school for 8 days in total during that time. Since joining this school, she has rarely gotten sick. Even when she does, it's just a mild cold that goes away quickly. As a parent, my top priority when choosing a preschool is always my child's health and safety. The teachers here are incredibly attentive and caring in all aspects of the children's daily lives. One time, my child had a hard time with constipation and started crying at school. The teacher put on gloves and was ready to help her. In the end, my child was too embarrassed and declined the help, but I was deeply touched by the teacher's willingness to assist. Over the past two years, my child has had nine different teachers, and eight of them were truly excellent. One teacher was relatively less experienced, but still caring. I have worked at several private preschools myself and currently hold a higher-level position in a public early childhood program. From my experience, I can confidently say: don't be misled by how fancy some schools appear on the surface. Many places look impressive but don't actually disinfect or maintain hygiene properly. A child's health and safety are what truly reflect the quality of a school.

I called to inquire and my husband did a tour... then we decided to enroll him into school here. They helped potty train my son and helped him be able to be away from his stuffy for the whole school day. He went from talking very little to talking a lot. Within months we saw a lot of growth. They teach the kids Chinese and feed them breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The teachers make Chinese food right from the kitchen that is on site. Many of the teachers speak little to no English. But for me it was okay because I wanted my son to learn Chinese which he did and can communicate with the teachers who spoke to him. They do have the kids wear masks and check their temperature daily when they arrive. After a certain time period, they started sending my 4 year old home with a weekly homework packet. (mainly tracing, coloring, some math, and Chinese) Overall, I still think that Angela's preschool isn't as bad as the reviews you read here or CDSS. Their new school principal Ms. Susan speaks English fluently and their old principal Ms. Belinda also speaks English really well. I met my son's classroom teacher recently Ms. Judy and she also spoke English well. So they have been hiring more teachers who speaks English. They do, do time out for the kids that needs some reinforcements. My son did come home with candy or tell me he had candy. I think the teachers give them candy as a reward which I do not really 100% agree with but I am not super bothered by it. We pulled my son out finally because I am able to enroll him in TK now. I would say that the teachers do care for the students. Yes sometimes when you watch from the parking lot some of the teachers are not 100% attentive but I haven't had any issues. When my son falls and gets hurt they do let me know and sends a notice home. They took COVID seriously and do not allow for families to attend their school functions. They do record it and allow the families to watch it online. Needless to say, my husband and I saw a huge improvement with my son. Something we couldn't do for him at home. So I am glad that Angela's PreSchool was able to help him grow.

To the kids . They go the distance to let each child know they are special, unique and loved. I would want teachers like this for my children. I've seen it with the kids and STAFF in the playground as well. My punishment was extreme, I'm no longer allowed to work at any monrovia schools. Also, I went above my job by actually playing with the kids, I made progress that even the teacher didn't cause I got autistic kids to play, I bought coloring books, arts-crafts, my student didn't even have book fair money I paid for his stuff, his family loved me, and so did the other kids I inspired them through art. I do know some of the staff members were fired, but based on previous years, they just cannot find competent people to hire. Also, according to my child's experience, things I've heard from other parents, and events I've witnessed myself, many of the children here get away with terrible behavior. I have heard so many horror stories of children saying racial slurs and micro aggressive comments, but none of them have faced actual punishment, besides maybe getting marked. If you are looking for a small, cozy Catholic school to send your children to, St. Rita is not that.

Stay away from TK at this school, Alverno is a much more peaceful place for a 4-year-old child. Love the church and all the wonderful members, let me start by saying god loves everyone, thank you lord for guiding me and helping me make clear statements. Unfortunately, it seems the TK teacher have lost their passion for teaching and are merely comfortable with their jobs. We are disappointed to hear that some teachers use awful language and sarcasm on four-year-old kids. I feel that if Jesus had a team and had to pick team players, he wouldn't have picked this TK teacher to play in his team. One teacher in particular has gained an uncompassionate reputation that has followed her for many decades. We have spoken with many teachers in different schools, such as Alverno, and they have confirmed that while this teacher has a good teaching record, she is simply an awful person to deal with.
