I've visited here several times, 3 to be exact and I try to support neighboring restaurants. The first time here, disappointed, gave it another chance thinking why not, disappointed again. Family in town wanted to try, family saying it can't be that bad, surely it was.....I've tried several times and This is the worse restaurant ever!!!!!! I hadn't been to a Long John Silver's in decades. There used to be more locations in the 1980s but many have since closed. It's not bad for fast food. I shared a Super Sampler Platter ($13.29) with another person. It came with shrimp, chicken, fish, popcorn chicken, medium fries, small corn, and hush puppies. It was a good deal and everything tasted fine. There needs to be more cleaning of tables and replenishing of napkins, utensils, and sauces. The area by the soda fountain was messy. read more

Then the restauant closed and reopened. And because there was always a long line, I'm thinking yes! The food is better! So I went today for lunch...I ordered two tacos. Salmon and Shrimp. Some of the food I bought was not up to my satisfaction... We I got it home, I opened it to prepare to eat and the hush puppies were not cooked right. They were over cooked and not edible. This LJS was a victim of COVID, I believe. It has just reopened recently. Apparently everyone in or near Taylor, Michigan couldn't wait for it to reopen. The drive through line has been ridiculous every day from opening till closing. I absolutely love LJS and couldn't wait for a time of day when the drive through wasn't so busy. Finally today was the day((12/07). I ordered my usual 2 piece with coleslaw and hush puppies. Got home and tried to eat it. It was disgusting!!!! The fish was salty enough to give a High Blood Pressure patient a stroke and the fish and hush puppies were ridiculously greasy and tasted like the cooking oil had not been changed since they reopened!!!! I'm so annoyed at not getting what I've ordered once again. My order was picked up by a friend so it wasn't checked before leaving. I ordered two fish/chicken combos which includes mostly fish and one piece of chicken. I received two orders of ALL chicken. I was soooo disappointed as I had been craving the fish for days but all of the nearby LJS have closed down. Of course, they don't answer their phone and they're much too far away to take it back. Just no. Although my food was hot, it wasn't fresh. Sounds crazy to say, but my fish tasted as if it was refried or the grease was just old, I'm not sure but something wasn't right. The light on the menu wasn't lit for me to be able to even see the menu and the appearance of the whole entire restaurant just looks awful. Went back after a prolonged absence, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, and decreased wait time. It's a 30-40 minute drive for me, and I will be back. Currently, the Westland location is being rebuilt. But this was worth the drive. read more

The food has improved a lot since they reopened. I usually stop there about once or twice a week for takeout. The service is good even when they are busy. I know when they are busy it takes a little longer I'm good with that. But they have run out of Cole slaw, tarter sauce, and ketchup at least twice this month. How can you have fish and chips without these items? I blame the manager. He is not very good to his staff. He belittles them loudly enough for the patrons to hear. While I was there he wasn't on the floor to help or guide them, then came out and started ranting to everyone about them not doing things right. They were busy and doing the best they could. Yesterday I went to Long John silver's for the first time since they reopened. I thought it would be a good idea to try a different fish place because I love fish and I've eaten it a lot of fish restaurants. I went home started eating the fish and realized that I could not eat any more of the fish because it was so greasy I mean my fingers were covered in Grease and I became so outraged because if you're serving people that type of food then you don't care about the health of others because clogged arteries is real and if you're serving fish that is that greasy then you can expect some or if not all your customers to start getting sick and having clogged arteries because your food is so damn greasy and I have no intentions on coming back none. I had previously given this business a lower rating. However, the last two times I was here the service was just fine for me and the food was good too. Now, some of the customers that come in here like to argue with the workers regarding the meal and some of the rules the business has as far as what is served. (Livonia/Redford area) After ordering the family meal and getting a small side of rice, am I almost home and check the bag and there is NO RICE!! When you be cravin' hush puppies dunked in cocktail sauce and crisp fried fish (I get the bird, as I am a land lubber) doused in malt vinegar...you gotta walk the plank to Long John Silvers. It is all sorts of good, in a very bad way. If you want to really be sinful get it served on a bed of extra crispies, you know what I am talking about. I was in the drive through on June 19th 2020 and I ordered an 8 piece all chicken family meal. Pulled up the window, the employee asks if I had the 8 piece fish family meal, I corrected him and said no I had chicken. He said "sorry it was a glare on the screen, I mean to say chicken". After we leave, we noticed they gave us all fish. We called and went back through the drive through to get our order corrected, the same employee then preceded to take back the fish that had bites taken out of (which is completely against health regulations, you're not supposed to ever take food back that has been passed out). The staff is horrible. The so called manager Ruth T was contacted about missing food and her response was you just ate it and want more food for free. Then, speaking to the supervising manager (whatever hat means) Ken wouldn't even offer a refund. Then when asked he said the person who bought it would have to come back. They couldn't just void the ticket. This place is a joke. And it's individually owned which means there is nothing to keep them in line. I ordered the fish and chicken platter, both the fish & chicken didnt look right. Your better getting frozen fish and chicken from the grocery store. While I was there a customer got upset because there was no one at the register to ring him up, while there was a dozen people in the kitchen. I also heard the middle-age manager lady running her mouth all across the restaurant saying "im only required to work 1 sat a month" very unprofessional. I heard employees using the F word. Not sure if anyone at the restaurant will see this, but I hope they do. I ordered the 3 chicken strips meal today. 2 of the chicken strips were joined together where the batter must have stuck them together in the fryer. Anyway, at the spot where the strips were fused together, the chicken was undercooked. I noticed it as I was eating as the texture and taste of the chicken didn't seem right. It was around 1/4 to 1/2 of each of the 2 strips that was undercooked. I looked at the remaining pieces of chicken in the spot I had just bitten at to see that the chicken was indeed pink and undercooked. This is not just an issue of poor quality control, I'm sure I don't have to tell you what can happen from eating undercooked chicken. This should never have been served this way, somehow or another there should be a way to make sure chicken like this does not get served. I showed the remaining chicken to the manager, who was apologetic. I did not ask for the food to be replaced, as I was not all that hungry anymore. While I do not plan to eat at this Long John Silvers again, I do hope someone in charge will take steps to ensure this never happens to anyone else. If I were you, I would rather read a bad review on Yelp then to hear about someone hospitalized on account of the food. read more

Stopped yesterday to pick up fish and fried clams for dinner. It was very busy inside and drive thru but the staff did a great job getting the orders out. The fish is hand battered and deep fried so it is very fresh. The fried clams are also made to order and take a little longer to cook. The fish was crispy and not over battered.
