This is 1 of 2 left in the whole Metro Detroit area. When I realized that I could go through the drive thru if I went a little, well maybe not just a little, out of my way home, I did. Growing up with this food, you judge other seafood places by it. Say what you want, you can't beat their batter, those hush puppies, and the crumbles of batter. You took them for granted until the idiots in corporate closed almost all the them in Ohio and Michigan for some reason most don't understand. They refreshed the place since my last time. I went through the drive thru. Got shrimp and hush puppies, lots of hush puppies since they freeze and reheat well. You don't know how many fancy seafood places that I have been with the dining out Meetup group and all we can talk about are those hush puppies since we compare others to them. Service was friendly and efficient. The food came out hot enough to still be enjoyed when I got home about 35 minutes later. I just wish they were closer but the Westland location is still open. read more

was there a couple days ago , food was good. kind of busy but the lady working up front held it together she made sure we had everything we needed and nobody left empty handed or upset. forgot her name but it started with a d , darkskin seemed new but was very nice. other than that, had a great experience and will be coming back for more! read more

This is the worst sea food I have ever had. The food was garbage and rubbery. It took 45 minutes and the service was slow as hell

I called in Uber Eats. The portions were small. The food was dried out and hard when I called the store and spoke to someone they were rude called me and hung up on me but she's a little white trailer park. That's probably 30 years old still as a cashier then answer the phone. She really doesn't know how to talk to people. Because if I was that type of person to go up there and pull our ass across the counter and beat wonder why someone was and then I would be the called me but you guys need to do is retrain your staff because the next time she's not gonna be that read more

I've visited here several times, 3 to be exact and I try to support neighboring restaurants. The first time here, disappointed, gave it another chance thinking why not, disappointed again. Family in town wanted to try, family saying it can't be that bad, surely it was.....I've tried several times and This is the worse restaurant ever!!!!!! The food here is always bad, overcooked, hard and dry, unbelievable no flavor and to think decade ago I enjoyed the fish here. Not sure if it's just this location but I'm surprised it's still open. Had to give at least 1 star to post review but really No stars given. read more

Jan 11, 2026, @3;00 pm both awful food and service. The restaurant is dirty along with the female manager who is unhelpful, unfriendly and smells of weed. The food is over cooked and cold and the woman working the front counter doesn't mind passing out the wrong order. read more

The service was horrible, I waited 25 minutes for food and then they forgot the fries. The girl at the window was so rude I asked for the manager and then he was rude. Matter of time before this place goes out of business again so disappointing. And they were out of tarter sauce. read more

Waited for 15-20 minutes so I just left , the regional managers need to go fix that , won't be going back

I hadn't been to a Long John Silver's in decades. There used to be more locations in the 1980s but many have since closed. It's not bad for fast food. I shared a Super Sampler Platter ($13.29) with another person. It came with shrimp, chicken, fish, popcorn chicken, medium fries, small corn, and hush puppies. It was a good deal and everything tasted fine. There needs to be more cleaning of tables and replenishing of napkins, utensils, and sauces. The area by the soda fountain was messy. read more

Been over a decade, brand new construction very nice. Had a Super Sampler combo. Added a Crab Cake, good meal that's all. She had a Chicken and Coleslaw. Not sure I would got back, just mediocre food. read more

Either my expectations are too high or someone else's are really low. This is my second time eating here. Once about six years ago. The fish was soft and unappealing. Then the restauant closed and reopened. And because there was always a long line, I'm thinking yes! The food is better! So I went today for lunch...I ordered two tacos. Salmon and Shrimp. There was little meat inside with no lettuce or tomatoes, like a normal taco would. I was not satisfied at all. I was still hunger when I left. I should have kept my $12 and ate at home! -- at Long John Silver's. read more

Some of the food I bought was not up to my satisfaction... We I got it home, I opened it to prepare to eat and the hush puppies were not cooked right. They were over cooked and not edible. And two pieces of fish were cooked together and when I pulled them apart, one of the pieces was over cooked and not okay to eat and it looked overcooked as well. I like to be reimbursed please. Thank you in advance. read more

Good food. However they always give me fish when i order chicken. They look the same but wish they would pay attention. Tastes good.

Stopped in for fish and chicken. Took an average amount of time to get my order. They had no katchup in the dispenser. Also of all the tables in the main dining area only 3 had napkins. Both of these things were disappointing after only be open less then an hour. After placing my order and while eating an additional ten customers stood around waiting their orders. read more

Food was alright. Decent price. Customer service was lacking but A for effort. They are all kids but are trying hard.

This LJS was a victim of COVID, I believe. It has just reopened recently. Apparently everyone in or near Taylor, Michigan couldn't wait for it to reopen. The drive through line has been ridiculous every day from opening till closing. I absolutely love LJS and couldn't wait for a time of day when the drive through wasn't so busy. Finally today was the day((12/07). I ordered my usual 2 piece with coleslaw and hush puppies. Got home and tried to eat it. It was disgusting!!!! The fish was salty enough to give a High Blood Pressure patient a stroke and the fish and hush puppies were ridiculously greasy and tasted like the cooking oil had not been changed since they reopened!!!! To their defense, there has been an inordinate amount of customers, and they were trying to keep up, but now I'm afraid to try LJS again!!!( the coleslaw was great though!) read more

Cant believe the quality has dropped bad... And the prices are ridiculous... Pay more get less.... I paid 14 for my meal and didnt realize it didnt come with a drink which cost another 3.50 getting sick of the overpriced under quality and less quantity..... The portions were pathetic i paid nearly $18 and didnt get full Fix your quality or your prices and maybe ill give better reviews read more

Going through the drive-thru is ridiculous I have been waiting for a half an hour and I only had three cars ahead of me and I still have one more car ahead of me This is insane read more

Just no. Although my food was hot, it wasn't fresh. Sounds crazy to say, but my fish tasted as if it was refried or the grease was just old, I'm not sure but something wasn't right. The light on the menu wasn't lit for me to be able to even see the menu and the appearance of the whole entire restaurant just looks awful. And I had to wait for a very long time just for my drink, after reminding them they never gave it to me. read more

I'm so annoyed at not getting what I've ordered once again. My order was picked up by a friend so it wasn't checked before leaving. I ordered two fish/chicken combos which includes mostly fish and one piece of chicken. I received two orders of ALL chicken. I was soooo disappointed as I had been craving the fish for days but all of the nearby LJS have closed down. Of course, they don't answer their phone and they're much too far away to take it back. Went back after a prolonged absence, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, and decreased wait time. It's a 30-40 minute drive for me, and I will be back. Currently, the Westland location is being rebuilt. But this was worth the drive. read more

very upset!!!! i ordered a 2 piece fish combo and a 2 piece chicken combo and both were COLD!! The coleslaw was nasty!!! they put NO CONDIMENTS that I asked for in the bag!! lady at drive thru definitely acted like she didn't want to be there!! i love LJS but i don't think I'll be back!! read more

The food has improved a lot since they reopened. I usually stop there about once or twice a week for takeout. The service is good even when they are busy. I know when they are busy it takes a little longer I'm good with that. But they have run out of Cole slaw, tarter sauce, and ketchup at least twice this month. How can you have fish and chips without these items? I blame the manager. He is not very good to his staff. He belittles them loudly enough for the patrons to hear. While I was there he wasn't on the floor to help or guide them, then came out and started ranting to everyone about them not doing things right. They were busy and doing the best they could. He should have been there to help for as busy as they were. I felt bad for them. It wasn't the first I saw that next time I will have to say something to him. read more

Yesterday I went to Long John silver's for the first time since they reopened. I thought it would be a good idea to try a different fish place because I love fish and I've eaten it a lot of fish restaurants. I went home started eating the fish and realized that I could not eat any more of the fish because it was so greasy I mean my fingers were covered in Grease and I became so outraged because if you're serving people that type of food then you don't care about the health of others because clogged arteries is real and if you're serving fish that is that greasy then you can expect some or if not all your customers to start getting sick and having clogged arteries because your food is so damn greasy and I have no intentions on coming back none. Make better choices for your customers they deserve it! We are the ones who are buying your food! read more

Some of these reviews blow my mind. This place is 100% what you should expect from a LJS. Grease i@/so thick in the air you could cut it with a knife. I went during a nice lunch rush. My food came out fast, hot, fresh, and greasy as expected. The interior seemed to be recently updated compared to most LJSs I've been to in the past. It's a good spot to LJS. read more

I had previously given this business a lower rating. However, the last two times I was here the service was just fine for me and the food was good too. Now, some of the customers that come in here like to argue with the workers regarding the meal and some of the rules the business has as far as what is served. Could they be more customer service friendly? Yes! But, I have had no issues personally with the service. read more

While in the downriver area, I decided to get Long John Silvers since the one in my area closed! (Livonia/Redford area) After ordering the family meal and getting a small side of rice, am I almost home and check the bag and there is NO RICE!! I call them to let them know and the manager says either come back to get it or they will send a replacement letter for it! How will I get it IF there is not a location near me??!! Duh! I decide to drive all the way back and all he does is give me the small rice. Knowing I had to drive all that way back!! Not even an offer for a free drink or an upgrade to a large size, which most other restaurants will do!! No wonder why LJS is closing their restaurants, they have idiots running them!!! Wish I had read the reviews on this place before going there and spending my money!! Fire the manager and get someone who cares!!! read more

I know I am not the only person that feels this way about this restaurant but I am a Blogger and I believe in telling the truth about you no matter what race gender origin sex or sexual preference. That is your business lol. OK I can make this a long story but Ima make a long story short. The manager was short with me and very dry and bland at the drive-through window while I was trying to make a selection. Then while going around to the window my vehicle decided that it wanted to update itself like an actual computer and stopped in the middle of the drive thru. So I let people go around to get their order and once they did I then went to the window and told the manager who happens to be African American that I did not appreciate how rude he was to me on the telecom and he went to the back and told someone and they both came to the front and told me to get the F off of their property and that they was not serving me anything before I knew it it We was in a heated match. I told the owner who happened to be in the store that I felt biasness before....always at this long John silver location and that they always rude and extremely slow as hell. So by this time hes really angry and told me to get the hell on. Geez all I did was told them the truth on how rude and slow they is. Black people are treated real rude and the manager is a black field ni...I hope his fish all jump back in the great lakes In Michigan so they don't have to hear they rude captors. Go experience yourself frfr n reply peace out read more

Ahoy! Yes, this chain is like a barnacle on the under belly of the fast food world...but whatev's it makes me shiver me timbers with jolly when I get a hankering. When you be cravin' hush puppies dunked in cocktail sauce and crisp fried fish (I get the bird, as I am a land lubber) doused in malt vinegar...you gotta walk the plank to Long John Silvers. It is all sorts of good, in a very bad way. If you want to really be sinful get it served on a bed of extra crispies, you know what I am talking about. But, I think they left the portholes open as I was literally shivering me timbers as it was quite nippy inside. Arrrrgh! read more

Very horrible food now that it opened up again. More expensive prices only gave us half the order. Five fries in the platter boxes we did get. I seriously would never recommend this place. read more

I was in the drive through on June 19th 2020 and I ordered an 8 piece all chicken family meal. Pulled up the window, the employee asks if I had the 8 piece fish family meal, I corrected him and said no I had chicken. He said "sorry it was a glare on the screen, I mean to say chicken". After we leave, we noticed they gave us all fish. We called and went back through the drive through to get our order corrected, the same employee then preceded to take back the fish that had bites taken out of (which is completely against health regulations, you're not supposed to ever take food back that has been passed out). They give us chicken, and a few pieces were completely raw from the inside. I won't be returning to this location ever again. read more

We were waiting in the drive thru when they opened and the lady that took the order had an attitude from hell. We had our granddaughters with us (2 and 3 years old) and for her to act like that was uncalled for. If she doesn't like her job then she should find another one. read more

To start, I wouldn't even give this one star if I had that choice. The wait in the drive thru is horrendous. They make up excuses but it is same the same all the time. At least 20 minutes in line. The staff is horrible. The so called manager Ruth T was contacted about missing food and her response was you just ate it and want more food for free. Then, speaking to the supervising manager (whatever hat means) Ken wouldn't even offer a refund. Then when asked he said the person who bought it would have to come back. They couldn't just void the ticket. This place is a joke. And it's individually owned which means there is nothing to keep them in line. I suggest they just close the doors and be done with the seafood business. HORRIBLE read more

Service is ok, drove thru could use some repairs or something because everytime I been there it's like it's shorting out when the employee is talking to you. For the most part it's fairly clean but seems like they could do a better job of cleaning the tables more often. Food is good, price might not be to my liking but it's not they set there own prices. Overall it's fair but could do more. read more

This place is terrible. Walked in and the whole dining room floor was greasy and food on the floor. The food was disgusting. I ordered the fish and chicken platter, both the fish & chicken didnt look right. Your better getting frozen fish and chicken from the grocery store. While I was there a customer got upset because there was no one at the register to ring him up, while there was a dozen people in the kitchen. I also heard the middle-age manager lady running her mouth all across the restaurant saying "im only required to work 1 sat a month" very unprofessional. I heard employees using the F word. I also heard employees yelling specifically mike the guy whos cleaning the fryer and he yells only have 2 fryers. I also didnt see one person in the kitchen using gloves, very unsanitary. Stay away from this place. read more

Not sure if anyone at the restaurant will see this, but I hope they do. I ordered the 3 chicken strips meal today. 2 of the chicken strips were joined together where the batter must have stuck them together in the fryer. Anyway, at the spot where the strips were fused together, the chicken was undercooked. I noticed it as I was eating as the texture and taste of the chicken didn't seem right. It was around 1/4 to 1/2 of each of the 2 strips that was undercooked. I looked at the remaining pieces of chicken in the spot I had just bitten at to see that the chicken was indeed pink and undercooked. This is not just an issue of poor quality control, I'm sure I don't have to tell you what can happen from eating undercooked chicken. This should never have been served this way, somehow or another there should be a way to make sure chicken like this does not get served. I showed the remaining chicken to the manager, who was apologetic. I did not ask for the food to be replaced, as I was not all that hungry anymore. While I do not plan to eat at this Long John Silvers again, I do hope someone in charge will take steps to ensure this never happens to anyone else. If I were you, I would rather read a bad review on Yelp then to hear about someone hospitalized on account of the food. read more
