Ordered and ate at store. Fries were cold and hard but the fish was good but a little over cooked. Not dry but the batter was brown instead of golden. Definitely not what I remember the food being from the past. No ice in the lobby. They seem to be short staffed. The interior is new and looks nice but still has some things to fix. Saw blue tape on the wall indicating a needed fix. Definitely room for improvement but since I'm the store hasn't been reopened very long, I'll give them another try in a couple of weeks. From the outside to the inside it looks like a decent small place to grab a bite and a n fact it is an amazing place to grab a bite. Line might be a little long and take some time ordering once you do but it is definitely worth the wait in the end. Their food is amazing and tastes incredible. They have me wanting to come back for more and I personally almost did go back for more if it was not for them closing very soon and due to time I went they were cutting off the salmon. I love long Johns pollock. My wife and children love the chicken strips and crunchies. The coleslaw is excellent also. The fries I can never get home hot so they are a deterrent but dine in and they're good enough. I'm not sure what they're tartar sauce is made of but 2 packets for 4 pieces of fish, 3 chicken, 6 shrimp and a crab cake, it better be out of this world good. Oh and we offer to pay for extra and still said no! They did, however, throw in a butt load of vinegar. On to the food...chicken planks were absolutely disgusting. Experienced what another customer reported at this Walzem Rd Long John Silver location, Air Conditioner was OUT. However, at 1130, found it very pleasant with only the fans turning. This is one of the few older remaining LJS's in San Antonio. Their seafood has always been crusty, tasty, low priced & high calorie. Using coupons & a senior discount, the two of us ate today for $15.50. A seafood platter, fish basket & a Baja Fish Taco. Staff members were nice but they are probably expected to do too much. The same person who took our order, delivered it, retrieved a carryout box, was also out in the main area sweeping. Adding another person to take care of all the bussing, cleanup, janitorial, emptying trash barrels, etc., would make a much better restaurant appearance & impression. read more

Tonight 2/20 I was pleasantly surprised that my long johns dinner wasn't another complete waste of money. (Last visit was at LJS on 78 location) The girl who took my order was great, made me fresh fish and fries. I didn't mind waiting but I did order a soda and my interaction with the other worker wasn't so nice. She looked annoyed that I asked for something while she was stocking cups. The drink tasted terrible but the other workers great attitude over shadowed that little incident. Thank you to the great worker at the window, I don't know her name. I went into the restaurant to order my family meal. While ordering, another customer waited in line behind me and ask the employee if the place had air conditioner. At that time, it donged on me that it WAS very warm in there. The employee politely replied that the a/c is not currently working. I added, "Wow no air conditioner and you all are always either near or in front of the fryer. That's got to be tough. I'm sorry. " Again as politely as possible, she replied by thanking us for noticing and hoped the a/c gets fixed soon. When asked how long it's been down, another employee mentioned that it's been a little while. Long John's, your employees are still working for you in these conditions. Not only do they have to work in front of or around the fryers, but we are in Texas and today's weather reached about 96 degree. Normally I love Long John Silver's but the order tonight was greasy and the chicken fillets looks as if they were running low and cut them in half. The fries were so greasy they stuck together plus there was no crispy pieces that I love almost as much as I do the food itself. I had to pull up and wait for awhile for the food and for it to come like it did I felt cheated. What you see beside the hushpuppies are the chicken fillets.
