Seafood in the Midwest is never very impressive and a Red Lobster in Iowa is no exception, but it…read moreis probably the best option available for those of us who can't make it to the ocean often enough to sate a shrimp craving. The salmon dishes from their fresh fish menu are well spiced and tasty. Their fried shrimp is golden and crispy, though I wish the cocktail sauce tasted a bit stronger, and their scampi is a garlic-y alternative to breaded shrimp. They keep a tank of live lobster if you really want to splurge on some fresh seafood, but I'll never have the heart to order one. Prices can range anywhere from under $10 on the lunch menu to $30+ for the big seafood platters (though at least those platters will provide plenty of leftovers for the average diner). Their sides are a disappointing affair. The salads are full of pale lettuce and the crunchy center pieces. The clam chowder is better than canned, but still bland enough that I have to add pepper to it. The french fries are generic, the coleslaw tastes like they just dumped some mayo on cabbage, and the steamed broccoli has barely any flavor beyond "wet broccoli." It's tempting sometimes just to get the pasta to avoid choosing a side. Their appetizers, on the other hand, are far more appealing. Red Lobster has hands down my favorite cheesesticks -- they're smaller than average, but you get a ton of them. And, of course, the complimentary basket of cheddar bay biscuits is hard to resist despite the calorie count, so long as they're hot and fresh. The waitstaff keeps the table well stocked on those biscuits, if you let them, as well as bringing drink refills so quickly that I can barely keep up with it. The service is friendly and very attentive, making this a smooth dining experience. When it comes to seafood, I'd rather be in New Orleans, but while I'm stuck in Sioux City, Red Lobster will do.

I was very excited to try lobster bisque and it was kind of disappointing, not sure if that's on them or if that's the normal taste. However, the shrimp with Cajun butter was amazing. The butter was very good. The service was alright, they were friendly but our waitress was standing a long ways back from our table while helping us.

I'm going to stretch out and give this place the 5th star! I typically try to stay away from…read morerestaurants that have a denomination before a family member, because they're usually a train wreck. Like "5 Guys" (which is absolute garbage, and I have no idea how this place stays in business, because I've never seen a single one of these have any customers inside) But I'm digressing, and I'm glad I gave this place a shot! I walked over here, and I walked through the patio dining area, through the patio entrance/exit, not realizing that the main exit was just around the corner of the building but I made it in anyhow. The kid up front was super nice, and asked me where I wanted to sit and I chose the bar, naturally! This place is super clean, even the bathrooms, so that was really nice. A bunch of TVs, and I think I even saw signage for live music on Fridays? But it's a pretty big venue, and they even have their own private dining room for private parties, at least I'm guessing. My bartender, was a spitting image of a woman I know in the town where I live, in the Eastern Sierra mountains. I literally had to double take and triple take to make sure it wasn't her. But unlike the lady I know, this bartender was nothing short of excellent! One star goes for the knowledgeable bartender, and the successful owner knowing that 'extra lime' means WEDGES, not WHEELS. It wasn't too busy in there, but she was really attentive to the bar patrons, and was on top of her game. Everybody sitting at the bar area, were so nice to one another, we were all talking and I ended up meeting this really nice, older gentleman that I chit-chatted with up until he left. I love the fact that the people here are so open and comfortable with one another and can engage in friendly banter. So that being said, my bartender constantly kept an eye on me and never interrupted my conversations when she wanted to offer me another drink or to order supper. She always timed it perfectly right! I'm on a no carb kick, so I ordered the smothered pork chops, with steamed broccoli and asparagus. Man, was it good. Those asparagus were popped down over an open flame and roasted, and even though very simple and basic, some of the best asparagus I've had at a restaurant ever. My whole trip was very enjoyable, and it looks like I'll be here in Sioux City for a few more days at least, so I will probably poke my head in there, this weekend! I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND YOU TRY THIS PLACE. I eat all over the country, from fine dining, to little holes in the wall in the deep south. This right here is a sure bet! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. To be fair, we don't go often, maybe once or twice a year because we forget about it. I guess this…read moretime highlighted why: it's pretty forgettable. This time, not even the homemade complimentary kettle chips were good. They were mostly broken, pretty stale, and basically tasteless. This is too bad, because it's usually a draw. The margarita was the worst I've had in my life. The server misunderstood our request for a second round and brought me another, so I had to have two of them. The service is another sour note: we had to flag her down throughout the visit. One time she was unavailable and someone unkempt and lackadaisical visited our table in her stead. One of us got the Cuban and he said it was good. He is used to having legit Cuban sandwiches, so he probably is on to something there. Unfortunately, the rest of us ordered based on a photo advertisement of theirs they have posted up inside the restaurant. That was false advertising if I've ever seen it. The prime rib wasn't just not good, it was revolting. The only good thing was the baked potato. After dinner, we went out to the patio for some mediocre live music and a different server who was actually rude. Once a year is looking more like never again.

It's been years since I've stopped at an Olive Garden. They no longer have my favorite pasta dish,…read morewhich was disappointing. My kids had never been to one and they're both in high school. They LOVED it! Still offering endless salad and breadsticks which made my teenage son very happy. I recall being offered tastes of wine in the past before ordering. I guess they retired that. Lots of salt in the food, it is what it is. You're not here for healthy fresh food. The staff were very nice- I could tell you immediately we were back in the Midwest. I hope the restaurant stays around for many more years. Nostalgia throughout the whole place for me.

(Send someone to Sam's Club...they sell it there). I got my salad and breadsticks in a timely manner but had to remind the waitress 20 minutes later that she hadn't brought my drink. She had 3 tables right together, super odd, ALL of our main courses came out at the exact same time and she served last table seated first. Also - a little salty - she didn't bring me any mints when I paid
