Beautiful beach. There's a boardwalk, where you can walk or ride bikes. Beware driving on the beach. Sand bars and saw someone get stuck. There were pick ups driving along the water. Camping on the beach isn't allowed. The kite festival is held here for a week every August.

WOW! First time ever driving right down at the water. This is an awesome experience if you are in the area. You don't need 4x4 as we saw several cars driving along the beach just stay on the dark sand "wet" not the dry "white " sand and your car want sink. The views are breathtaking as you are right at sea level. My wife and I would definitely visit here again.

Love this beach so much! Always my go to location for a great beach day There are a lot of vehicles driving on the beach some days so just be careful for that but otherwise it's a great place to take you family and friends!

Such a beautiful beach out in the tip of the lower west coast of WA. What's more to love than a long stretch of sand and ocean water? It's worth coming out here during the sunset and watching the sky change. If you have a truck, it's so much fun to drive through the sand and make donuts. If you keep driving down south, you will reach Cape Disappoint. There is also the Discovery Trail on the left side if you decide you want to go on a walk. This beach is a must if you want to hear the sound of the ocean and escape from the busyness of life.

Back in Mar 2022, I was on a road trip from Southern Cal to up north through San Francisco, CA, Portland, OR, and Discovery Bay, WA. I swung on by Long Beach, WA on my way back to Portland. What a wonderful place to visit! I got a chance to actually drive on the beach... Long Beach, WA... infamous sign currently says "World's Longest Beach", but on the internet it's known as the World's Longest Drivable Beach on a Peninsula... I guess as time passed, there were other beaches that came along and beat the record... they just haven't updated the sign yet LOL. Shops and eateries are within 3ish blocks radius so there are plenty to choose from. You can park for free along the road that takes you to the infamous the "World Longest..." sign. You may see people kite flying, others out closer to the waters (I was afraid for them and the cars because you never know if they'll hit a soft spot and end up sinking), and of course, cars being driven over the hard sand, etc. I even saw people horse riding on the beach. The beach is about 28+ miles long. I probably drove 1 mile out and 1 mile back... it was definitely a neat experience! Along the beach is a 0.4 mile boardwalk... maybe a 15 mins walk round-trip unless you're a fast walker, then it can be done in 10 mins. Also there are a couple resorts that sits right off the beach shore and one of them happens to be owned by my vacation ownership... I'll have to be back to stay there one day. Overall, it's a very clean and lovely beach! By the way, the World's Largest Frying Pan is also located in Long Beach, WA. When do you ever get a chance to visit a place where it has two World's Longest or Largest... double L's LOL! Do swing on by Long Beach when you're near the lower WA coast. You won't regret it. HAPPY DRIVING ON THE BEACH! How cool is that!

Gorgeous quiet beach. We were the only ones there and it was so beautiful and sunny. Planning a second trip back soon. Very clean too.

This place is awesome! Even wet windy and overcast it's amazing. You just can't beat driving on beach to your ideal spot to watch the waves crash on shore!

A nice little town on the Coast of Washington, with the longest beach in the United States, the beach itself is very nice and sandy, and they do let you drive on it, which was amazing as saw a couple people get stuck. The town itself, has several cool shops on the boardwalk, and is a very lively town, I do think I will be back here!

    The beach, duh!

Toes in the sand, bottle in my hand, and sun at my back... Wait I was dreaming. Sand in every orifice of my body, because the wind is atrocious. Can't drink anything or eat anything due to the wind. Burnt fireworks everywhere. Seriously, it looks like Normandy beach after D Day. Can't build a fire on the beach, yet you see fire pits everywhere. I guess if your into flying kites, freezing cold water, and sand everywhere. This is the beach for you. The positives are it's a long beach, so you can carve out your own area.

On a sunny day, in any month, the view is just spectacular. You can see both Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens from the beach area. The beach is clothing optional and people are in all variations from nude, to topless, to clothed. So if walking around naked isn't your thing, don't let that stop you. You do you and everyone else will do themselves. It all works. As you drive down NW Raider, you will pass the Island Cove Market. if you haven't bought a permit to park, stop here to get one. It's $7 a day or $30 for an annual pass, well worth it. Don't neglect to buy the permit, they patrol frequently and will fine or tow!!! After the Island Cove Market you will pass a beach - you will know based on the cars all parked on the left and a hill to the right with several stairs and handrails taking you over the small hill to beach. Keep driving. When you hit the gravel road, you are in Clothing Optional Beach territory. Anywhere along this several mile stretch, park your car to the left and walk through the various marked paths to the right. When you walk through the clearing, you will be delighted by the sight of a decent sized white sandy beach, the river sprawled out in front of you with views across the water to the grass and trees. Plus Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood standing proud. It's stunning! And so peaceful. There are no bathroom facilities. This is Sauvie Island and it's not built up or commercialized. That's part of the charm and why it remains so pristine. There are porta potties located every 40 feet or so along the parking area. As well as garbage bins. Do take all your trash with you, don't leave it on the beach. This beach is great for long walks, sunbathing, picnics, floating or swimming in the water. In the summer, the water is actually pretty warm. And few waves other than when a large barge goes by and creates some waves. So if you like stunning scenery, peace and quiet plus water you can swim in, check it out! I plan on frequenting often this summer. I'll be the one in full bathing suit and a sun hat!

The only downside is beach access. If you follow Google Maps from downtown, it may lead you to a stair-heavy entrance with no ADA access and very limited parking -- not ideal for strollers, wheelchairs, or anyone with mobility needs. Tip: skip the default route and go to W. Gower Street instead. It's flat, easy, stroller-friendly, and takes you directly onto the sand without stairs. Also, expect strong wind along the shoreline. A hooded windbreaker is highly recommended -- even on calm-looking days, the wind can be surprisingly intense. Overall, Cannon Beach is a 5-star destination. Just knowing the right access point and coming prepared for the weather makes the experience even better.
