There were no linens for the sofa bed. The Wi-Fi is terrible. My buddy and I arrived around 7pm on October 19, 2019 after a 14 hour drive. There was nobody at the office to receive us. Instead there was a note and a key. We located our cabin and entered to find the heater running and the place uncomfortably warm. We lowered the thermostat and the heater shut off. And stayed off. Nothing we did could get it running again. We turned to the wood burning stove for heat. The fire went out at some point during the night and we woke to a temperature of 48 degrees INSIDE the cabin. [In case you aren't familiar with Colorado in October, every night the temperature dropped well below freezing - some nights in the teens!]We called the manager (still nobody in the office) and he came over promptly to look at the heater. He showed us how to open the access door and use a paperclip (which was already there and bent to the proper shape so clearly this was an ongoing problem that was never properly fixed!) to bypass a relay and get the heater to turn on. We left and returned after dark to find that the heater was still running and had been running all day. The temperature in the cabin was close to 80 - unacceptably hot! So now the heater was either on or off and had to be restarted with the paperclip. The thermostat had no control over the temperature. This meant that my buddy, who drew the sofa bed to sleep on, had to keep waking up throughout the night (and every night!) to turn the heat on and off. For 6 nights he didn't get an uninterrupted night of sleep. In the "fully equipped kitchen" we found utensils in the drawer that were obviously used and dirty and a coffee cup with some sort of brown crud inside. I'm willing to do my own dishes in a cabin rental situation like this, but having to do the previous occupant's dishes is totally unacceptable! Furthermore, there was only 1 spoon and 1 wine glass for 2 people. I get that it is towards the end of the season, but you've got to check these things when preparing the cabin for new customers! Next issue is that there were no linens for the sofa bed. Fortunately my buddy brought a sleeping bag so it wasn't a problem for us. But what if he hadn't?? The Wi-Fi was so weak that I ended up stealing the signal from the neighboring property (Moose something Lodge). A lightbulb in the bedroom was burned out, as was one in the bathroom. The scrubber provided to wash the dishes smelled horrible and left that nasty smell on your hands long after the dishes were done. At no point did management offer to move us to a new cabin or reduce the cost of our stay. We were away from the cabin from dawn to after dark every day hunting. Our needs couldn't have been simpler - just a place to sleep and eat. If Bear Paw Lodge can't satisfy us, how in the world can they not ruin a family vacation? Had our families been with us we would have left after a day and demanded our money back. My wife and I are going to take a winter road trip and I had hoped this would be a nice place for me to take her. That's not going to happen. In fact, there is no way I will stay at Bear Paw Lodge again. The total lack of care, consideration, and preparation is beyond belief. I can't imagine how bad it must be when they are at full capacity. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is that the owner did respond quickly to get the heater (but not the thermostat) to work.

The land was so extraordinary, the food was better than some 5 star restaurants we've been to, and the staff were down to earth and friendly. The owner of the ranch ate with us at almost all of our meals! Granted, we came during the pre-season so there weren't as many guests as usual, all the same, it was a real treat. Our cabin was so sweet and comfortable! It has everything you need, but not so much that you lose the ranch feel that you came for. We went on a full-day ride up a mountain, the views were as breathtaking as you you would expect, if not more so! The horses were very tame and well behaved. The wranglers were accommodating. We had a special day with the utility-man and his son, fly fishing. They have stocked ponds on the grounds full of huge trout that they are happy to cook up for you if you want! OH and I couldn't write a review of tho place without mentioning the humming birds! They have several feeders out on the porch and there at least a hundred (it would seem) Humming birds zooming by! They are so sweet and not a nuisance by any means... We thought they were so cool!! This place also offers mountain biking and other mountain activities in addition to horse back riding! We will be back! This place is worth every penny and every minute it takes you to get there! GO!

The riding started with scenic walks but progressed (based on everyone's ability) to challenging rides up to a 10k ft peak. The food was fantastic, not 'fussy' but delicious. hearty and plentiful. The cabins were as expected, although the bed was really firm. The shower was powerful and hot and perfect to come back to at the end of a 6 hour ride. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper because the squirrels party all night long. No TV's, internet or phone service in the cabins but you can use wi-fi in the main ranch house. My only phone signal for the week was at the top of a mountain. Then again, I took the trip to escape it all. At WTR, I learned to ride with confidence, rope, sort cattle and more. I also made some international friendships (the American West and cowboy culture is well marketed overseas). This vacation fulfilled my cowgirl dreams and the one thing I didn't expect... to leave the ranch in tears. Best vacation I've ever taken!

Heart of Telluride is right in the middle of Colorado Ave. walking distance to everything. Shopping? It's all around. Food? Everything is right there. Grocery? liquor? Right here. Gondola and ski lifts? Quick 2 block walk. If you ski, they also provide lockers right at the base of the mountain. And if you like to partake in the 420 action, they have it. This place is three stories with a condo at the bottom that can be separate or can be rented along with the top 2 floors if you have a lot of folks. We rented the entire place so that means 2 kitchens, 2 washer dryers, 2 living areas, etc. The downtsfairs condo itself is gorgeous and would be awesome if you just have 2 people. King bed, steam shower, living area, fully appointed kitchen. Come up the stairs to the second floor where you find a huge master bedroom with king bed, huge master bath with steam shower and a stand alone tub. There is a washer dryer on this floor. Another bedroom has king bed, full bath, and entrance to the back itself in case you want to sneak in late. Another bedroom also without a bathroom inside but there's one across the hall. Did I mention that bathrooms have robes and slippers? And that the floors are heated? And that the bedrooms have fireplaces? It's truueeee! Then we have the top floor with an awesome kitchen with top of the line appliances and everything you need. And a nice sized living/ dining area along with a bar too. The patio outside is a superstar! Lots of furniture. Hot tub!! Grill!! Views or the mountain and town. The guy that met us and showed us the House was a wealth of info. And we were greeted with a gift basket in the upstairs and downstairs kitchens with wine, bread, a box full of chocolate treats, cheese, coffee, etc. Basically, you feel like the queen (or king) of the mountain if you stay at Heart of Telluride. This is a great place to bring your family to relax around the campfire in the evening; and during the day go hiking, fishing, do some horseback riding, or sightseeing in the surrounding area. The Hinger family has been running Bruce Spruce Ranch since 1966, so it's a family owned business. I really thought it was incredibly romantic stopping by! We stumbled upon Bruce Spruce Ranch in West Fork Campground. We absolutely enjoyed how hot and humid it was in May of this year and enjoyed interacting with the horses. They are incredibly busy, so it was kind of tricky to reserve a spot. I admired looking at all the horses and their many colors. Back in the Day: The cabins rented for somewhere in the area of $2.00 per night, and reservations were made at least a year in advance. Today, the four Hingers, with the help of other family members, continue operating the guest ranch and making improvements, welcoming some families every year into the fourth generation. It is a great place to bring family to relax, fish, hike, sight-see or go horseback riding.

Didn't really look in to the cabins during our stay, but they had a nice amount of options scattered throughout the property. Kids loved being able to fish in the stocked ponds on the property. Just past the ranch are some nice trails and creeks to check out without having to drive far (if at all). Tent area of the property was small, but really some great spots to be had. Lots of trees in that area for shade or to hang your hammock.
