The care at this facility is wonderful minus the front office staff. The ladies at the front checking are not pleasant and rude. They of course demand your money and tell you if you don't pay they will cancel your procedure (this is after you poop your brains out all night- not an option). We tried to tell them that the insurance company would pay at 100%. And they did. The worst part of all of this is.. I have called Lonestar (Keller location) at least 8 times and left 4 voice mails (over the last 2 weeks)for their "admin/DON" to discuss all of this with NO return phone call. I have called TDDDC and spoke with their office manager and she emailed them, again, no response. Then I called the billing number listed and the pleasant lady was the most helpful and was able to get an answer and the payment refunded but again NO call from Lonestar. This is absolutely unacceptable to take payments and to have to jump through all of this to get them back. As well as the "admin" not caring and not calling back despite multiple messages left. I recently went to Lone Star endoscopy several times. Each time from check in to finish, the staff, from front desk, to nurses, to anesthesiologists, to doctors has been amazing. Top notch quality care and all aspects, including several follow up phone calls to check on me and my well being. If you have to have an endoscopy or colonoscopy, have to worry, lone Star Endoscopy Center is a great place to go if the need arises. After scheduling I had a few questions and the person who answered the call was able to answer all my questions. The front lobby is a bit old, but very clean. I have received care from this facility a few times now. Each time, I have felt the staff was great and the facility was great. However, I must caution anyone about paying upfront for their services. I had a procedure in early January 2026 and they required up-front payment of $1800 because of insurance deductibles. I used my HSA account thinking this amount would apply toward my deductible. At some point, my HSA account ran out of money in the month of February and I was still having to pay for medical services with other doctors and I wondered how I could not have met my deductible already. I come to find out that the $1800 was fully covered by my Medical Insurance and the $1800 was a mistaken distribution and had yet to be refunded to me more than a month later. I had to call their billing department just to get them to acknowledge that they owed me that money back on my HSA account. They still have not refunded my money and are telling me that they will send me a check. It is now the middle of March and I still don't have my money. If you do not return the funds to the HSA, the amount may be considered taxable income and subject to a 20% penalty if not used for a qualified expense. You can't put the money back into the HSA account without it being considered another contribution in that year (I have already fully funded a new HSA account). When the HSA account you used is no longer functional past March 2026 and your employer has required transfers to a new HSA account, you cannot deposit the funds into the new HSA account as a "Mistaken Distribution" and you can't put it back on the old HSA account because that account is now disabled after a balance transfer request from the old one to the new one. I am very upset that they have yet to issue a refund and that the refund could not be placed back onto my original HSA account in a timely manner. This is a tax accounting nightmare and I don't understand why all other doctors are fine with billing me for their services, yet these folks require you to pay up-front. I have since learned that we have rights as a patients receiving services from in-network providers and I will no longer be paying up-front for any further services. Their billing people do not call you back, even when they tell you that a Manger of billing will call you back. It has been weeks since I first called. read more

I would say this is a great center. I went in for an upper and lower scope and everyone was very nice. They took very good care of me and I was called with results within 2 weeks. I must say that my claims have not processed so therefore I'm not sure if the price I was quoted as my portion will be picked up by secondary insurance or not. It's been over 2 months and still no answer as to why claims have not processed. Overall I'm sure they are working the claims but the center itself is top notch. read more

The staff here are super friendly, I had my first colonoscopy with Dr. Ramos and everyone did their best to make it a relaxing environment and the process be as efficient as possible. Did not have to wait very long and procedure was over and done before I knew it. Props to the awesome staff of Lonestar Endo! However - One thing I will say to anyone with Aetna, be ready to pay! I received a total of 3 bills in the mail, one from doctor, one from hospital (which you pay day of procedure), and one from anesthesiologist. I don't see this as an issue with Lonestar Endo so I'm not knocking off any stars on my review but I certainly have paid a lot more in bills than I was expecting. I had the most amazing colonoscopy/endoscopy experience at Lonestar. I've never had one before and the whole experience was very emotional for me since I lost my Dad to colon cancer a few years ago. The nursing staff was so sweet to me and I felt cared for, comfortable, and at ease, which is not what you would expect to feel before being put under! Dr. Stephen Lacey is my gastroenterologist, who I will recommend to everyone I know! He is an amazing doctor and his nursing staff is top-notch! This facility is very organized. I received numerous phone calls starting 2 weeks before the procedure, asking me if I had any questions about the procedure, as well as several follow up phone calls after. A colonoscopy is very personal and can be a dangerous procedure. I was supposed to have an endoscopy/colonoscopy by Dr. Ramos at Lone Star Endoscopy Center in Keller. Let me get right to the point. When you arrive you are greeted by 2 kiosks for self check in and payment. There is one person behind the desk who can tell you how to use the kiosk if you have any questions. She then hands you a one page questionnaire. (A note about the questionnaire ~ be sure to know the name of the prep kit you use, even though it's ordered by Dr. Ramos' office this info is likely kept secret by them) All of this takes at most, 10 minutes, which is actually longer than it takes when I go to my family Dr. and am greeted and checked-in in person. Then you wait in a large waiting area where half the people are drinking coffee or water and the other half are waiting to use the one restroom. I guess this is why we are supposed to be there an hour prior, to enjoy the dreary waiting area after over a day of not eating and a night of little sleep due to prep. Apparently I am not as patient as most patient's. After 45 min. I went to inquire when I would have my procedure. I was told that Dr. Ramos was running on Schedule and I would soon be called back. This confused me, WHY was I required to be there an HOUR prior to my procedure? Yes, I suppose you've already guessed.... This place is a very efficient processing center where people are lined up like cattle in order to allow as many as possible to be processed by the Dr. in order to maximize profits. After all, the Dr's do share an ownership stake in Lone Star Endoscopy Center. Thus a kiosk instead of a person to greet you and check you in, and an hour wait time. Don't get me wrong, I believe in capitalism, it's what made this country great. What I have a problem with is when it crosses the line to greed. Like having a kiosk greet patients rather than another human being, making People wait so that they are lined up like cows and can be processed efficiently to maximize their bottom line. Well, I am not a cow. So I complained and wanted my money back, something I hated to do after having done the prep. ( which I am sure is what allows them to get away with this inhumane treatment, no one wants to do that prep a second time!) Let me tell you, they become very belligerent if you don't go along with the heard! I told my daughter, my designated driver, let's go! I will not be treated like this and certainly don't trust a Dr. who's ONLY motive is money! As I was halfway out the door the lady in black scrubs stepped into the waiting room and said to leave or she would call the police! Seriously.....greedy folks do not like to be exposed. Your choice! But when my husband had this done a few years ago at a different place, he was treated with respect and dignity like a person, by people who cared and did not make him sit in a waiting room for an hour and call it prep time. read more

I'll spare you the details of my colonoscopy, but I will say that it was easy and painless (at least for me) - contrary to what you have heard. The staff and my doctor here were super! They made the whole process so easy - from scheduling to the paperwork to the procedure itself. They made sure I was comfortable and they even laughed at my lame jokes. And whatever drugs they used were fab! I didn't feel a thing and don't remember a thing! If you live in this area and will be having the procedure (oh yes you will - eventually - bwaa haha!), I highly recommend this place. My first colonoscopy: Arrived at 0600 and check-in was quick and easy. Sat for about 10 mins then back for gown and IV. All of the nurses and support staff were friendly and informative. Relaxed atmosphere. Seemed pretty quickly that I was taken to the procedure room and chatted with the anesthesiologist, and the gastroenterologist (Krieger, whom I had used before for an upper scope for heartburn, both good). Awoke about 5 mins (seemed like 1) before the Doc came by with my report and photos of my netherist of regions. Discharged very quickly thereafter. Won't hesitate to return here when needed. read more

This facility is very well organized , the staff kept me informed from the minute I made the appointment up to the end of my procedure and after, to find out how I was doing. I had a very pleasant colonoscopy experience.. I've never had one before and knew I had to have one as my Mom had Colon and rectum cancer , but just kept putting it off. All the staff was so exceptional friendly from the reception to the medical staff. Made me feel so comfortable, and at ease. They explained everything as we went along made sure I was comfortable. I had a colonoscopy procedure scheduled with a doctor out of their Southlake office. The scheduling nurse called me three weeks past my call into their office (granted this was around the holidays), she asked about available dates and we agreed to schedule the earliest date available (about a month out) at the Keller location the Doctor performs the procedure at. I was asked about insurance information and told them I was under a new plan and provided that information about the new plan. I informed them that the old plan I was no longer covered with, I made that clear. I arrive to my appointment and find out that my new insurance provider would not cover the procedure, this would have to come out totally out of pocket. I asked why this was vetted out when scheduled and the Keller facility (Lonestar Endoscopy) did not know but gave me the name of the scheduling admin person at TDDC. I was not going to pay for this out of pocket so I cancelled the procudure, this lost me a half day at work along with my wife and also the $150 I had to pay for the pre-prep medicine which I will spare details on its unpleasant affects. TDDC did return my call in a timely manner, the person who scheduled my appointment indicated that the Doctor is in my health plan however the facility that he was performing the colonoscopy in was not? I asked why wasn't this verified in advance, I was told that the scheduling administrator cannot update insurance records so my old insurance was still listed along with new and that Lonestar Endoscopy just verified coverage under my old plan and for some unknown reason did not update my information and remove UHC? I don't know where the breakdown is in communication but the short of it is this Doctor is affiliated with TDDC, he accepts certain insurance plans but operates out of facilities which do not uniformily accept the same plans? TDDC schedules the procedures but is not responsible to verify insurance only pass along information and Lonestar Endoscopy doesn't question why two health plans are listed and not bothering to verify why. Lessons learned, if you are dealing with TDDC, Dr., or Lonestar Endoscopy you will have to confirm insurance yourself beforehand and not rely on their administrators or assume that the place would be covered since the doctor is. read more

Well....where do I begin...i just recently moved here from Seattle, WA. I have been having issues with my stomach and came to see Dr. Ramos. From the time I met him he shared so many factually findings regarding research and explained the importance of getting some things checked. He explained everything, answered all my questions, and I felt 100 percent comfortable going forward with the procedure. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with the staff and nurses and they did everything in their power to make me feel comfortable. The procedure went well and everyone had smiles on their faces. You could tell they were confident in their roles and responsibilities. Also, there were genuine. They provided me a card in which they all signed telling me Thank You for entrusted in them with my health. I tell you...this goes a long way. Truly one of the best experiences I had dealing with health related activities. I'm not a fan of clinics, hospitals etc just cause it honestly makes me feel anxious. Well..not these groups of individuals. I highly suggest if you are struggling with stomach and intentional issues come to this clinic. The place is okay, but it is Dr. Karen Steffer that I cannot recommend. She is abrasive, rude, rushed, and insensitive. After the results of my endoscopy she did not take more than a minute to converse with me and go over treatment options. Her only medical advice was to continue on a pill that I've used for several years that has not been effective. read more

Office environment & most staff were exceptional. Rating is based on my experience with Dr Ramos, which was unacceptable. After my invasive procedure I was immediately rushed off to a chair in a busy hallway to recover & wait for Dr Ramos. Significant time passed while Dr Ramos began new patient procedures, but he did eventually swing by my hallway chair, only to hand me an envelope of images & tell me to call the office if I had questions. There was no time allotted for discussion of my procedure or his findings, which were surprising and scary-sounding. I was then swept out the door and left to fend for myself by googling everything in the envelope he handed me. An unhurried 2 or 3 minute conversation would have meant the world. read more

We've been going to Lonestar in Keller for my husband for several years. Never had an issue. Yesterday was my turn. Now they have kiosks for check in, no big deal, but if you've never used it they should have someone come out to assist. Of course I made a goof entering something and there's no delete or back button. The system kicked me out. But, quickly rectified by a receptionist who had me go to her desk to finish check in. Which went faster with her doing it. I checked in a little more than an hour before my procedure and proceeded to wait. A women came in 30 minutes after me and checked in for same doctor-easy to figure out by their "confidential" TV monitor. She was called back within 10 minutes of arrival whereas I sat there for almost an hour. At 45 minutes I approached the desk to find out why I was waiting this long. She said my doctor was running behind. Well it would have been nice if someone had come out to let me know. That's what I used to do when I managed a GI unit. I finally get called back by my preop RN who was very nice and did a stellar job. Although there was no apology for the wait. My intra op staff were very good. My real adventure started in post op. As I was being wheeled into my bay, the nurse was asking me what I wanted to drink. I was still technically out of it. My eyes were closed even though I could hear her. I pulled the blanket over my head in response. I guess she must have looked at my husband because I heard him say she doesn't like bright lights. And were they ever bright. I understand they have to be able to see your skin color in case you stop breathing, but 1. don't pull the curtains closed, 2. they have machines that will give them that information. For the love of God, put dimmers on those lights. The other thing was they had some sound machine with tweeting birds going!! So annoying. Again this nurse wanted to know what I wanted to drink. I finally was able to tell her water. I figured out she wanted me to drink something so she could rip out my IV and get me out of there. And rip she did. Did no one ever teach her that rubbing an alcohol swab over surgical tape loosens the adhesive? I just looked at my husband and shook my head. Grabbed my clothes and got dressed. When she came back in and acted surprised that I was dressed I almost said "well aren't you wanting me to go"? I was still very woosey and my husband practically had to carry me out. I have to return in 3 years. I may try the Southlake facility. read more

Beware that this facility practice pay much upfront the re-claim the difference later. They make you pay an estimate which in our case it was about $1000.00 over what our Insurance said we should pay. The problem for us is that it was a general payment that we found difficult to match with the insurance claims. But our totals did not match their totals. We contacted them and they credited about half. We are still waiting for the rest. This is a bad practice. The Anesthesia charges was questionable. My advice is to check up front so you are prepared for the big bill later. Keep in mind that you have lots of choices now, because there are many clinics like these popping up everywhere. Use this to your advantage. Don't settle for these bad practices. read more
