Yes, candy! I love finding old school candy. You don't find it much any more. Razzles, make your own pixie sticks, Boston baked beans, wax bottles, candy cigarettes, and Jelly Belly's. So fun walking throughout the store and seeing how much they have in this store. Even towards the back the have Blue Bell ice cream. Was nice to look around and see all my favorite candies I used to save up my allowance to buy at the corner store market. Whew, that brought back nice memories. read more

Candy selection overload! Stopped in while in our search for real rootbeer while in Fredericksburg TX. You could spend hours going through all the candy options they hand. But they also had a nice selection of fudge which you can ask for some free samples. They also had other chocolates, including chocolate covered pickles, chocolate covered jalapeños and chocolate cover bacon. We tried some chocolate covered bacon and chocolate covered marshmallows which were both really good and some mixed nut fudge which was also really good. Staff was super friendly unfortunately no real rootbeer here. But very nice candy store and definitely a stop if you have a sweet tooth. read more

Lone Star Candy Bar was the first place we stopped into on our recent trip to Fredericksburg as we were craving something sweet. This candy shop had a wild selection of items including chocolate covered bacon, chocolate covered jalapenos and tons more. When inside, there was a young guy (likely a teenager) and a woman working behind the counter. Both of the employees were friendly and happy to help my friend and I. We tried a few different fudge samples including their mystery flavor before deciding to order a square of a random fudge (one we hadn't tried). Similar to the samples I had tried... the fudge never seemed to really match the flavor I was expecting/ the name and really just tasted like straight sugar. With that said, sugar fudge still tastes good and we were able to enjoy what we ordered. First of all I should have taken more pictures, yet I was mesmerized by all the variety of candy. There is also a huge fudge section and a variety of chocolate covered items. It was pleasantly cool in the store which was nice since it was such a hot day when we went. The employees were nice and asked if there was anything in particular we were looking for. It was also kind of quiet in the store, so it was very chill. The reason for the 3 stars is that I have been to other candy stores with a more variety and more space. I felt like the crowded merchandise in it and it would definitely not accommodate anyone that would require a wheelchair to be able to shop comfortably. It hit about 80 during the day as my wife and I were walking around. We decided to go for ice cream. We went in and went to the back and waited for the lady at the counter. I looked at the sign and the prices showed $4.99 for a scoop of ice cream and $1.00 extra for it to be in a cup and $1.00 extra if you wanted a waffle cone (it's not really a waffle cone). It also said extra scoop $1.00. Ok, cool, so we each ordered 2 scoops of ice cream each. I got a "waffle cone". The lady rang me up for $23.77!! I was half paying attention but when I walked outside and looked at it, nothing added up. Our bill said 2 Waffle cones and 2 1 scoops! I went back in to try and understand what was going on. Kelly the cashier knew what I was going to ask because I didn't even need to open my mouth when she said "I charge by the scoop". I'm thinking, the signs clearly say $1.00 extra scoop. But since she spoke first I knew this has happened to many people before me. So I just politely told her that my wife didn't get a waffle cone. She reluctantly agreed and said "well it's only a dollar". So she went to the register and gave me $1.00. We left but I felt I was lied to and cheated. I was expecting to pay $5.00 for each ice cream, $1.00 for the 2 extra scoops, and $1.00 for my sad waffle cone. $14 and some change should have been my total with tax. I almost paid double. Obviously we aren't going back. I told two other couples that asked me where we got the ice cream to beware and that they charge $5.00 per scoop and not the $1.00 on the signs. read more

Stopped in yesterday while visiting. I had a very odd interaction coming in, I asked the young man serving me which fudge he loved most and what always popular and he said he didn't like fudge, I then asked the female worker the same and she very rudely said i hate fudge and gave me a dirty look and walked away. Lone Star Candy Bar is a tightly packed candy shop with all sorts of sweets and treats. All of your childhood memories come to life with sweet tarts, chocolates, and fudge. When I say tight, I mean tight tight. We visited on a gorgeous spring afternoon and could barely get through the entire shop because there were so many people inside and the aisles are narrow. Every year I stock up on fudge on my birthday weekend. It's the only time during the year that I buy fudge. I buy a large amount, freeze most of it, and take out a little at a time. We rented a B&B in Fredericksburg for my birthday this year, so I picked up fudge at Lone Star Candy Bar. The selection was great! What I've tasted so far is also very good. I also picked up a few truffles, which were very good, too. The one thing I found off-putting was the attitude of the person assisting me with the purchase. After selecting six pieces of fudge, he acted as if I should stop. I shouldn't need to explain my entire life story before I can spend more money in their shop! I would leave zero stars if I could. Upon entering the store, my friend and I could hear (and see) the manager griping at a very young employee. He continued to berate this young man in front of customers the entire time we were in there. We had planned to purchase quite a lot of things but ended up putting our items back and leaving. It was unacceptable. If an employee needs correction it should be done privately. I hope this kid finds a better job with a decent manager. read more

My experience was terrible. I made my purchase and left the store, but soon after I tried the product I was just sold only to find that the quality was terrible. The product was stale and had obviously been sitting there for weeks without being replaced. I walked back in and very kindly requested a refund to which I was then approached by the manager who had just stuck his hand into and ate some of the product. He stated that the product was perfectly fine and he refused to supply me with a refund. I accepted his terms but then I did not receive my product back. I left with less money and no product. The employees were extremely, extremely engaging and attentive! They were super eager to have us sample the various fudge flavors, and my friend and I appreciated the offers. We sampled a lot! The salted caramel, chocolate, cotton candy, and sea salt caramel were all delicious! There was also a promotion for buy 4 pieces get 2 free for $16, which is a very good, very generous deal! We bought six flavors: sea salt caramel, cookies and cream, tiger butter, chocolate, dulce de leche, and maple pecan. Was super excited to try the chocolates but I'm wheelchair bound and no way for me to get over that step. First, I want to thank this establishment for carrying amaretto fudge. It's my absolute favorite and not many places carry it. Last time we visited I got 6 "squares" of fudge. It wasn't until I got home that I realized the fudge was precut and poorly wrapped in blobs. Never experienced that before from this shop. We were in an air conditioned car and had parked right by the store, so it wasn't because of heat. See the pic - melty blobs of fudge. :-( very disappointing. Maybe it was an off day? So, based on this last experience, if the fudge flavor you want is already cut and wrapped in plastic, you may want to try another flavor. Came in on a Thursday. It wasn't packed at all. Its a cute little candy store. My sons were able to find the ice cream candy they were looking for while in Hawai'i. It really is candy heaven if you have a sweet tooth. I do love the fudge I bought a box of various flavors, praline, coconut, heath, butterfinger, salted caramel, and rocky road. Sorely disappointed, there are no shortages of ice cream and candy stores in Fredericksburg, and I'm sorry we chose this one. First I stopped and we picked a couple of chocolates from the case. No one was in there but us... When I was ready I stood there 5 feet from the male employee who was scraping chocolate off the machine and he looked at me a couple of times before he finally said "do you know what you want?". We picked a chocolate covered brownie for my daughter which was good and two peanut butter cups for me and my husband to eat later. Well the peanut butter cups have caramel in them, it's not listed and I hate caramel. So I just spent $4 on one peanut butter cup that I don't want to eat, super cool! They are larger than a Reese's, and the chocolate is good quality, but sorry even if it didn't have caramel I wouldn't spend $4 on another one. You can't even taste the peanut butter. Don't worry, my husband won't let it go to waste. Now to the girl serving ice cream, she had as much personality as the male employee, I'd say as much as a door knob. She had the "what do you want?" And "do you want anything else?" Down pat! That was all she said to us and when I tried to compliment the generous scoop she gave my daughter, she just ignored me and that was when she gave me the "do you want anything else?". Great little place but expensive! You can definitely tell it is there for the tourists. However, they do have a great selection of candy. There was a sign on the door that read "unsupervised kids will be dipped in chocolate." That did make us laugh. My husband bought some chocolate dipped bacon, and he said it was delicious. The fudge looked amazing! They had so many flavors, but we know fudge can get expensive, so we skipped it. We are hoping to be able to try it next time. They have hand dipped ice cream in the back of the shop, but it was 9am, so we decided it was too early for ice cream. The place is a little on the small side so be sure to get there early to avoid the crowds. This is definitely a place to check out if you're on Main Street. I grabbed a Fun Dip, a pack of Beeman's gum, and something called Jones Carbonated Candy, cream soda flavor. Frankly, the latter turned out to be disgusting. Money badly spent on that one ($3.50). I also bought an orange chocolate truffle from their homemade chocolate treats at the counter, which was delicious. I spent $11 on these four things. They must have just updated their hours so good on them to changing it to when they're actually open. We stopped by at 4:40 on friday afternoon, they were closed. There was a little girl behind me who was so excited to go to the store and started crying. (I feel ya girl) so I thought ok, I will make sure we can get here tomorrow (saturday) I check the times on yelp. 11-6. So we get there at 5pm. There are literally people IN the store but the doors are locked. Looking at their yelp page TODAY it looks like they (finally) updated their hours.
