On the other end during the winter, it's turned into an ice skating rink. It's lovely in the spring and summer. It's kept really well manicured. There is a path that winds throughout the park so you can walk your dogs. Bathrooms are older but when you gotta go, you gotta go! Attached is a water park for kiddos in the summer and a skate park. The skate park is free, the water park charges a fee for entrance. Sometimes there are shady characters around so I wouldn't recommend just dropping your kids off.....

If I hadn't paid before, I knew the bathrooms and showers were closed. I would never have stayed here. Highly highly highly recommend the state park, plus it's dirty, my campsite is full of trash and there's huge rocks lane everywhere including the fire pit

Herron Park has a labyrinth of beautiful, intersecting forest trails of all skill levels to…read moreexplore. That means you can take a nice easy stroll, or take on a more challenging uphill climb, or a mix of both. It's not as awesome or epic as Glacier, but if the national park is closed or you want something different, this is a good option. The trails are well maintained and clear. In fact, several were temporarily closed for maintenance while we were there, and were actually actively being worked on. Most trails lead up the side of the small mountain the park is up against. That means after awhile you are going to get some pretty great views. And some great exercise as well! The area is basically a pine forest, and in the spring there are beautiful flowers all over the place. Some well known trails in Herron Park are the Notch Trail, the Family Trail, and Overlook Trail. Another note - I had cell service through most of the 4 mile loop hike we decided upon too, which is a bit unusual for the area. Four stars for being pretty great.

We thought that was exceptionally nice although almost all of the state and national park rangers we run into are nice like that. Found a nice spot on the water. Got a few good pictures. Obviously, our experience and impressions of this park and staff were five stars.
