There is a path that winds throughout the park so you can walk your dogs. Bathrooms are older but when you gotta go, you gotta go! Attached is a water park for kiddos in the summer and a skate park. The skate park is free, the water park charges a fee for entrance. Sometimes there are shady characters around so I wouldn't recommend just dropping your kids off.....

That means you can take a nice easy stroll, or take on a more challenging uphill climb, or a mix of both. It's not as awesome or epic as Glacier, but if the national park is closed or you want something different, this is a good option. The trails are well maintained and clear. In fact, several were temporarily closed for maintenance while we were there, and were actually actively being worked on. Most trails lead up the side of the small mountain the park is up against. That means after awhile you are going to get some pretty great views. And some great exercise as well! The area is basically a pine forest, and in the spring there are beautiful flowers all over the place. Some well known trails in Herron Park are the Notch Trail, the Family Trail, and Overlook Trail. Another note - I had cell service through most of the 4 mile loop hike we decided upon too, which is a bit unusual for the area. Four stars for being pretty great.

There is a paved walk around the grassy area as well so dogs and pet parents alike can get their steps in. The park does have a very tiny "small dog area" if needed, but our small dog was happy out playing with the big boys. The days we visited were very warm and many of the dogs were enjoying a dip in the pond area. There is plenty of parking and restrooms and it seems like the park is still under construction and there will be more to come.
