We saw Kelly's sign and went in and asked if they had rooms available. It's not the place I'd choose as a romantic getaway, but it is pleasant and pretty and very well kept. And they have dogs, which immediately endeared me to the place. Kelly Enochs and wife Marilyn run a nice little B&B here. We didn't see much of Marilyn (although her pressed-flower art decorates the place) but Kelly was very chatty, perhaps almost too much so. I'm sure one craves company when you run a B&B out in the woods and it's off-season! Location is great: right on a creek, right off the main road, on a side road that leads out into the 'country' (nice for walking or morning runs). There is a nice sitting room downstairs with a very good library of outdoors-related books. The antique couch is pretty but not the most comfortable. Kelly has a large collection of music and is a big music fan ... and will tell you all about it if you're interested. Our room (Creekside - a double upstairs; see photos) was large and comfortable. We had to go around the corner outside to use the bathroom (sink, toilet, clawfoot tub), but there were no other guests, so that worked out fine. Kelly is also a coffee addict, so there WILL be a fresh pot waiting for you in the morning. Breakfast was good with plenty of food ... all the basics you would expect - something eggy, something bready, something sausagey, fruit, coffee & tea. All in all, a nice time, and I would go back if I were in the area.

Our bathroom had a giant, beautiful soaking tub which we did take advantage of and even my 6' tall husband found it comfortable. Everything other reviewers have stated is true: it is charming, comfortable and fun. The design and decor all feel thoughtful and natural. Every space is inviting and it seems there is something delightful to see around every corner: a DIY photo booth closet inside the front door with props (!), a make-your-own-trail-mix counter along with coffee/tea/cocoa access 24/7...even just the seating areas inside the front door made me smile. Breakfast was quite the spread & the owner/manager (?) was there with a couple of staff and even took our "order" for what kind of eggs we wanted. They were all so friendly and casual I felt like I was staying at a friend's house. One little thing I never thought I cared about: their towels were SO soft and smelled SO good. I have never experienced anything like it and now I know there is such a thing as an amazing towel experience. Check in was a breeze: there is a parking lot behind the house (1 car per room) & we basically just showed up with a door code & details texted/emailed to us and went straight to our room which was open with keys in the door waiting for us (the exterior access points to the house are all locked/secure so no worries about security). Finally, the staff were awesome. They were having some difficulty with the elevator when I arrived and offered to help with my bags up the stairs onto the room on the third floor. We had two adults, one teenager and two dogs, and managed just fine in the space of the cabin. We were stoked to find that our soft-sided dog crates (our MVP purchase of 2025 btw) fit PERFECTLY on the ledge so we all slept so peacefully! The cabin is appointed perfectly, from all the little personal extras, to the well-placed placards that give you all the info you need... we didn't want for a thing! We picked up bread at the White Salmon Baking Co and made perfect bougee Brie, pear and fig paninis and butternut squash soup in the kitchenette, hiked trails with the pups, sat by the fire and made s'mores... it had snowed the night before so it was a veritable winter wonderland! The communication with the host was perfect, check in and out was a breeze. We felt safe, cozy, and perfectly detached from the world. Will absolutely return!

Part of the reason we selected Sandhill is because they are pet-friendly. We will definitely return because they are people friendly too! The cottages are rustic but well-cared for. Despite the weathered look, the beds feel "like new" and are very cozy. I took a nice soak in the tub - but also appreciated the good pressure in the shower. I spent most of the weekend in a comfy papasan chair on the front porch of our cottage, with the pooch and a book. Jay brought me great coffee which kept me warmed to the toes while I watched the rain fall - all day long. Definitely a relaxing, worry free place for a relaxing stay. Each furnished "retro" style. Cabins restored with salvaged barn wood, mixes with orginal "art deco" tubs. (we loved the bathroom) Wish mine at home was like this. The owners/caretakers Karen & Jay were so nice to deal with. Didnt care we arrived at 2am, they left the door unlocked and the heat on for us. The cottage had two pillow top beds, and were supplied with quilts, blankets, pillows etc, all very nice and comfy. The prices range from $79 - $99 a night, and they made a deal with us for the 1st night since we were arriving so late & they probably wouldnt be able to rent it out otherwise (winter being the off season) Lots of stuff to do in the area. The cottages are located within a mile of the Columbia River, there is a steamboat cruise to go on, we visited Multanomah falls, Bonneville hot springs resort, Beacon Rock (the worlds 2nd largest rock) etc. They also have an espresso stand in the office. Great esspresso. Definately a cute little find and good rates.

The camp itself is clean, well-organized, and the staff were friendly. We'd booked a Deluxe tent but were upgraded to a Suite due to low occupancy, which came with a dedicated parking spot right next to our tent -- a real convenience, especially for anyone with mobility concerns. The Venue: The views from the camp are genuinely beautiful, but potential guests should know that despite the "Columbia River Gorge" branding, the camp is not actually on the river. The food was our biggest disappointment. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt since it was opening weekend, but by day two it was clear the kitchen wasn't hitting its stride. My burger was fine, but my wife's chicken sandwich was overly salty with a panko coating that tasted previously frozen. The fries on both visits were over-salted. On the positive side, the s'mores at the fire pits in the evening were a nice touch, and with low occupancy, the fire pit area was relaxing. The food is something easily within the capability of camp management to improve, and I suggest they do. This is not an inexpensive venue and the food is priced accordingly, so you want it to be really good. We expected glamping to skew toward an older crowd looking for a comfortable outdoor experience, but the demographic here leans young - couples, families with kids, dogs. The noise wasn't a problem at night, but occupancy during our stay was only 30%. With more kids and pets it could get a bit noisier at night. It's worth knowing what to expect. And if you've ever glamped internationally - say, a tented safari camp in East Africa - you best calibrate your expectations accordingly. This is a nice, roomy tent with a bed, not a luxury wilderness tent. The Service: The service was friendly and helpful! There is no electrical power in the tents, other than what you get from a battery pack, which the camp provides you with. I also got a large battery pack capable of handling my CPAP machine at night. You need to let them know about this ahead of time. The Tent: The tent is very roomy! While there are two chairs on the tent porch, there is no table of any kind, which makes sitting out there with a bottle of wine and glasses somewhat inconvenient. There is definitely room for a small table. We had the feeling the tents are geared to move people towards the group area and the restaurant/drink tent where there are lots of tables and chairs. There is also no place to hang anything up. Just putting a couple of hooks somewhere would be worth it, we thought. The bed was a very nice King and I have to say quite comfortable! I brought my own pillow from home, though, which is always a nice thing to remember to do. The cold at night was uncomfortable, but that's April in the Gorge, and not a fair criticism of the camp. However, we had very warm comforters and blankets, and the gas fireplace helped! We slept well! Tip: Start the fireplace earlier in the day, before dusk. Our first night we waited till evening and the fireplace never was able to overcome the cold, but the next day when we started in earlier, it warmed up the tent much better! Exploring the Area: If you are like my wife and I, we like to explore. So, we looked at the map and thought we would drive up to Klickitat Canyon, but soon found ourself off the grid with no phone signal, so our GPS went crazy and we abandoned the effort after going in circles a couple times. LOL. Tips: This was an unforced error on my part as I should have downloaded some offline maps of the area and also brought along a paper map, just in case. These are things I recommend you do if you want to head out into the hills and dirt roads. We were rusty and it showed. Winery visits: There are a number of wineries within easy driving distance. We visited Jacob Williams and highly recommend it. Delicious wine, amazing view, and food to boot! Bottom line: Under the Canvas on the Columbia Gorge is a pleasant enough stay in a beautiful setting, good for families, but not something we'll be repeating. And for the price point, the food needs to improve.

The tent is bare bones as described - a bed, toilet/sink/shower and a table/sofa. You're living out of your suitcase as there isn't a place to hang up (or dry off clothes after getting wet in the rain). There is no electricity in the room so you do need to be on top of charging the rechargeable lanterns by the bedside and bathroom, which they do provide power banks for. There is also a fireplace which was so needed as it's cold in October. There are no trails on the premise so you do have to drive else for anything - waterfalls, trails, etc. And unfortunately the moon was bright one night and the next night was cloudy so we were not able to stargaze. There is Embers, the onsite restaurant and it's really good. Ordered breakfast and dinner for 2 nights. The selection is good so it feels like there's something for everyone. At night there are smores to roast by the campfire. They also have a lot of games to play in the lobby tent. One odd thing is that the neighbors don't seem friendly as they posted signs all the way from the main road to right where the lodgings are saying Under Canvas not welcomed. It does give a bit of a negative vibe.
