We shared a loft apartment (~$200 a night after taxes and fees). Very clean and comfortable, loved the in suite kitchen area, dining area, and in suite bathroom. The common area was also useful to get some quick tea / coffee, get filtered water and do some laundry. The atmosphere of the whole property is organized, clean, quiet, and friendly. Highly recommend for folks who are coming to Bishop for outdoor activities and want a relaxing and comfy experience.

This was our backup plan since Sabrina campground was full. It's still a very lovely campground as…read morethe sites were surrounded by a river and lake. The lake itself you can't swim in according to the rangers due to the power utilities stuff that are there. You can fish can canoe though. There's two areas to this campground, upper and lower. We originally headed down to lower Intake 2, those sites were nestled right next to the river, but we found another one at upper intake that was well shaded and it was more secluded. We later found out there was also an easy access to the river over the hill for shower rinsing needs. The cost was $24.00 a night and $7.00 extra flat fee for an extra car coming out to $55.00 for two nights. The paid parking area only fit about 4-5 cars at best or else you'll have to try your luck at the first come, first serve parking lot (that's right next to paid parking lot). There were two restroom buildings, the farther one was vaulted (no sink) and had recycling bins right outside. The one closer to our site had running water (had a sink and drinking water fountain) and flushable toilets. For a first timer camper, I definitely really liked this campsite a lot, it was close to the hiking trails that we wanted to do as well.

The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They brought our dogs water, hooked us up with an extension cord and charger for our phones, had a scavenger hunt for our toddler for endless entertainment and hot food. Plus buy a mug and get free coffee for life! The property is beautiful with gorgeous landscapes surrounding. We'll be making this stop an annual tradition!

A pretty good alternative campsite if you can't get closer to the trailhead for Big Pine Lakes. We…read morebooked about a month ahead and managed to get two campsites (25 and 26) right next to each other by the creek. Not all sites come with a fire pit with a grill. Ours was just a circle of rocks. If you're a light sleeper, I wouldn't recommend getting the sites that we had. The river water flows really fast so it's really loud. but others might find it as the perfect white noise. A good amount of bugs at night but nothing bug spray can't fix. I didn't put any one and got bit a couple of times around my feet. There aren't showers or bathrooms with running water. The bathrooms on site were pretty gross though and you could smell the stench a couple of feet outside of the bathroom. This was the biggest downside of the campground. There are public showers at the Chevron in town. Check out by 10AM. There's a $5 charge for an extra car.

If there's one…read morebit of practical hiking advice I can offer, it's to camp here for at least two days before hitting the trail if you live at a low elevation. I was not acclimated and it made my hike unexpectedly grueling. It's an absolutely beautiful hike, and I wish I was less focused on simply breathing! The entirety of the campground is surprisingly fancy as campgrounds go. Lots of manicured public spaces. But the store always seemed closed which probably had something to do with the government shutdown happening at the time. Directional signage within the campground (to specific site numbers and to the trailhead) is pretty awful and I wasted a decent amount of time trying to find my site. I got up pretty early to hit the trail (just as the sun rose), and had to use AllTrails to point me to the trailhead. In early Oct, it can get pretty cold up there so setting up camp at 4:30pm wasn't ideal. Try to get there earlier bc it cools down really fast. My specific site (26) was really private and very nice. It looked just like the pictures on Recreation dot gov. It sits beside a bubbling little stream, yet mosquitoes were never an issue. It was also the most level and tidiest tent pad I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping on. There was a major drop-off between the car pull-in and the campsite, so I had to be extra vigilant about not breaking my neck during the frequent back and forth loading and unloading.

Do not be discouraged of its distance away from the 395 and Bishop, although it is located at high elevation and in the Eastern Sierra mountain range, the road is well paved, wide, and easy to traverse in most vehicles. The campsites along the creek are beautiful, and offer much shade which is helpful in the daytime. The creek is beautiful and well flowing, offering a serene sleeping experience. The surrounding Bishop Creek looks great for fishing, but those fish don't bite anything. Camp Hosts were awesome and very friendly and welcoming.

South lake was not so good. Maybe because the lake has been drained by SCE it is so low that it was just to warm to fish. However, everything else was good. The creek fishing was almost like cheating. Throw in and out comes a fish, really great. No generators to deal with this trip. The camp across from us did turn on a generator but turned it off when they finished using it. Much appreciated. I decided to take a hike this year up to Blue Lake, about 3 miles above Lake Sabrina on the John Muir Trail. The hike is great! your climbing up a thousand feet however and that's the drawback but its worth the hike. Really a spectacular ending to the hike when you reach Blue Lake. We didn't fish this trip we wanted to get a feel for the hike before we carried our gear to fish the lake. We saw Brown Trout the size of hatchery trout in the lake. We are definitely going back next year. I will relegate this review to the hike to Blue Lake as you can read my other reviews which there is not much to add other than the campground is starting to get "known" lots of campers this time. I had to advise campers who were fishing at the creek behind our campsite to go around and not bring the dog and family through my campsite to get to the road. The hike on the John Muir Trail is good but not easy. The whole trail has been improved. the forest service has improved the trail with stepping stones and stone stairs. No problem staying on the trail. We met a lot of hikers coming both ways. I was kind of surprised to see people going up the trail late in the afternoon. The trail takes about 3 hours to get to Blue Lake and about 2 hours to get back to the trail head. Most of the people had not been on the trail before. I hope they brought some flashlights. Blue Lake is beautiful. When you get there you feel like you are the only person there and you are. The water is pristine, calm and crystal clear. I am very happy I made the hike with my son. Its an adventure we will remember for the rest of our lives. Its Gods country up there. Just immaculate! You are allowed to take the dog on the trail which we did. He pulled me along about half way up the trail. Then I had to encourage him the rest of the way. We took many breaks and ate lunch at one of the waterfalls on the trail. I took the lead as I am not in the best of shape and my son followed behind. I think my son could out run a mountain goat as he is in the best of shape, I kept him the back following behind just in case i had a heart attack. But we made it even though I huffed and puffed the whole way up. The altitude is from 9000 feet at the trail head and you climb to10000 feet, so acclimate before you decide to hike. We did and I was better off for it my son the stud probably didn't need to but he was a good guy and was patient. The camping trip was great again and I had a great time. No bears and the rodents were less than I had seen in the past. It did shower in the afternoon for a couple of days. Good food and great company and a another unforgettable family experience! Now, this comment is for those who do not camp regularly. Do not cross through another campers campsite. It is not only rude, you may be attacked by the campsite dog. Walk around. There is always a way around a campsite. Keep your dog on a leash. I had a big brown dog come into my campsite twice. At which point I had to ask the camp host to advise the campers to control their dog. Dogs are one of Gods greatest gifts, but keep them out of other campers campsites. If my dog had seen that brown dog he would have tried to protect us. And that would have been anything but good. Okay, Four Jeffery is a jewel in the Eastern Sierras. It's right next to a little creek, which is super nice and relaxing. They have a restrooms for you to use. The bathrooms are pretty clean. I'm also glad that this campsite is dog friendly. Our dog absolutely loved it! We were able to drive around certain spots to go fishing in the lakes. Just be aware. There is no type of signal in the campground, which was actually pretty nice. I definitely recommend the spot if you're trying to do a weekend getaway!

Charm abounds in this classic Victorian home in Bishop California. Lovingly restored over the last…read more40 years, this home is full of quirks and unique delights. The home sits right in the heart of Bishop California's just down Line Street, and makes the entire town walkable. Nearly everything is within a mile. The air conditioning functions well and kept us comfortable during one of the hottest weekends of the year. We slept well on the beds, nestled into clean linens. We plan to stay here again!
