We visited in March, 2011. First, to be fair, we overall really liked the resort. The LonePeak Playhouse on the mountain, however, was not a good experience for us. Our daughter is very socialized, and has no trouble at all here in Chicago w / preshcool or other activiites, she thrives on it.. But she was very, very unhappy at this place. Our observations were that the kids are for the most part un-engaged by the staff (many of whom spoke limited English). It was so unpleasant for Peyton, after discussing it, my wife actually pulled her out early. Because we pulled her out at noon, we asked to pay for a half day (which they offer ) and for a refund for a day we dedided not to use, however, my wife pre-paid, and so to my chagrin, they would not even discuss a pro-ration for the unused time. So in additon to a terribly unimpressive experience, to add insult we were then over charged. Itn fact this was so unpleasant, my daughter still once in a while randomly brings up the "playhouse" like it was all a bad dream, and says "we're not going to the playhouse are we". She is only 4, and this one day (in Montan!) is her worst memory.
To be clear, The ski instructors, who would pick her up and take her out, were ALL just great. This is not directed at those wonderful people (Claire she loved you). That was only a half hour of the day though. Big Sky needs to improve the daycare situation. Fromo our vantage point as a consicentious parents, this was not a place we felt good about leaving our child, and my wife and I will not repeat. read more
