I've come back from afar and wanted to dine again, on their bulalo and voila, the crowds descended like hungry wolves which made my trip, more interesting and exciting. The mist from an unstoppable showers was complicit in creating an avant garde of magical beauty as we sat down and ordered our culinary delights. The huge one sized bulalo was to die for, bone marrow was salivating, meat was super tender and the soup reminds me of honey in some sense. Their dinakdakan was sliced and presented in its usual sense, aromatic with the spices and pork fat that to me, defines what truly was an epicurean Filipino classic dish. Their "grilled squid" was sliced perfectly and tasted like no other, chewy but tasty, squiddy but came with a combination of spices that reminds me of the sea. The tilapia was mainstream, grilled perfectly but and with fresly cut tomatoes and onions which enriched the usual restaurant menu. I can go on and on but the beauty of Tagaytay was in its View To A Kill, mist laden but as the sun came to slowly diminish the fog, a paradise of sorts appeared from the front of the restaurant like a gods was of Athena on a bright morning day. So, if you're in the Philippines, head to Leslie's Restaurant in Tagaytay and mix in with the crowd who come from all over towns and countries to enhance their culinary experiences in a nation of maikling and happy people. Oh one more observation, the servers were great, smiling as always, kind and knowledgeable about the dishes they serve... TGIS was an important part of the experience, too. It took a little bit for the food to come out because they cook it up as you order, no turo turo style here. The sisig portion was big enough for 2, or 1 really hungry person (so we ordered 3). The meat was crispy as and full of flavor with just the right amount of heat, not overly spicy. I was pretty surprised that a little hole in the wall could turn out a meal this good. Loved that fact that the sisig came out with an egg on top! I've been places that don't offer the egg on top, but what is sisig without an egg on top! It's gotta have that egg on a sizzling platter that you mix in all together and that's exactly what I got here at Sisig Uno. Their rice was also darn good, soft and have great eating qualities. Bawai's is a healthier option when eating out. Enjoyed their salads and fresh rolls more than the mains. The coconut sprout salad aka Bawai's Salad won me over. Pho Bo was too oily and lacking that herbal kick of cilantro. They don't serve it with fresh basil nor bean sprouts. Salmon and chicken are forgettable. Not a fan of pork but was told by my tablemates it was amazingly tender. A bit on the pricey side for what you're getting but service is spot on.
