I only have two malls i consistently go in San Diego, the Fashion Valley Mall and the UTC Mall…read more However, UTC mall is more of a leisure... to walk around and kill time, for my son to play at the playground, for the festivities on the holiday season especially Xmas, to have family fun dates and good food experiences at nearby restaurants and the mall I always go to every time I have issues with my Apple iPhone and techs. The fashion Valley Mall tho, is my main mall. This is the mall where I actually do most of my shopping. We watch movies at the AMC theater when we have extra time and get food at the cafeteria/food court area after hours of walking. My son never misses going inside the Laderach to get a free taste, the best chocolate there is. We love going to this mall, especially with my son now being a teenager, we would most likely be doing lots of our shopping activities here especially at his favorite boutiques, like the zumies, Hollister, Rayban, and plenty others I do not recall.... We also love going to The escape room where the mall is. My favorite is the Nordstrom Rack! ;) The holidays tho could get really packed and busy but there's alot of nice things to see and lots of good deals to look forward to.

Hello May!! Came to…read moreFashion Valley on what must've been an off Sunday because...where was everybody? I hadn't been here in years, fully prepared to fight for parking, but jokes on me. Endless spots to park! That's a first! Are malls dead now? How are stores surviving? Anywhoo, I still spent more than planned. Damn you, Sephora! Pros: *Surprisingly easy parking (a rare mall miracle) *Huge mix of stores from bougie to budget - Louis Vuitton, Coach, Hollister, Macy's, Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, H&M, Zara, and Gucci to name a few *Open-air vibe with palm trees; very San Diego aesthetic with a tropical feel; complete with fountains and artistic landscaping *Solid food options with a food court, cafes, and kiosks, Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52, and my fav, True Food Kitchen *Clean and well-maintained and easy to wander around *There's a lot of variety here to keep you entertained *They have seasonal events that is a nice addition to shopping Cons: *Felt oddly empty for a Sunday..kinda eerie but it may be an introvert paradise *Dangerous for your wallet (you will overspend) *Some stores seem like they're hanging on by a thread *Malls just don't hit like they used to despite the pros- mainly because everything has gone up! Shopping isn't as enjoyable when things cost an arm and a leg. Overall: 3.5 Stars - Still one of the nicer malls around if you're in the mood to stroll, shop, and accidentally blow your budget (Guilty!). Would I come back? Only if my bank account approves!

The Midway Dr. Von's is a popular and busy place here at the Plaza--with a Starbucks located inside. The 24-hour Fitness Center is one of the busier ones and Sports Chalet does a brisk business. The mix of tenants is good. There is a Chase Bank in the corner next to a convenient Fed Ex store. The Food Court pad in the middle of the Plaza has lost a few businesses lately. The Greek restaurant is closed and so is the cute little Smoothie store that did not last too long. But the Pizza place and Malt Shop seems to be doing great. Now that there is a full-time security guard roaming around protecting the shopping center, the homeless and vagrants do not hang out so much begging. Plenty of parking, although the spaces are tight. It's always advisable to drive slowly through here because fender benders are common. Particularly troublesome are the spots right in front of Joanne's and Empire Beauty--backing up is tricky when it is busy there. Recently, Spirit just had their seasonal Halloween store open there and that one seemed to do well also. I had to deduct 1 Yelp Star due to lack of bicycle racks. Before my own bike got stolen at my apartment complex in August, I would ride to Point Loma Plaza a lot to shop. But I would have to lock the bike up to the shopping cart storage areas in the parking lot. It would be much better to place some bike racks near the Von's store and 24-Hour Fitness & have that security guard keep a good eye on them.

The beef was a chipped beef rather than nicely layered with the rye bread being marbled and designer-ish, but minus the would be rye seeds that's important to an avid sandwich lover! The shake was great however at 8 bucks for a small (No whip cream) rather pricey to say the least. Customer service is off the chart. I think people love to come here for this reason. I'm a single guy, so I'd prefer to go to Happy Head if I wanted to be stroked.

This is definitely the party district of San Diego!!…read more Day or night, this area is rather lively. Lots of different shops, bars, clubs, and restaurants here. I was here during Halloween and it was packed with people that night. The best place to park here, to me, is in the large parking garage next to Petco Park. The whole area is best seen on foot anyhow. There are also some nice hotels here to choose from. The Convention Center and the Trolley are also here, and the Embarcadero is just a short walk away!! Had a very good time here!!

It is an area where the tour buses (hop on, hop off) stop, and horse driven taxis are prevalent. The quarter is very eclectic and fun to walk around. There is a wide variety of restaurants with many different kinds of cuisines. It is fun to look at the modern hotels and the historic buildings. The closer you get to the water, the cleaner the streets and much fewer homeless. As you get farther from the water, the number of homeless go up. Parking is tight, as is true throughout SD, so it is best to find a lot or a space, park, and just walk. Or just walk from your hotel. SD is a very walkable city and the Gaslight quarter is no exception.

Walking through this shop is always amazing and I'm always tempted to buy something whether it's for gifting, for myself or for my pup Fendi, who loves a stroll through the shop. We went upstairs and we were greeted with, "we close in 3 minutes". Just awful customer service! We took a few seconds to admire the beautiful artwork and left. This was Tuesday, Aug 12th. These two older saleswomen really made our visit sad and we won't be back. I understand, as I work in retail, how it is to have customers coming in right before closing but I would never be so rude. A simple "hello, welcome in, please be aware we will be closing at 6" would have been fine! Not even a smile or a response to my greeting from either of them... Just evil stares. Such a shame, I had a big purchase in mind that I will be buying elsewhere now.
