Couldn't help eating one before taking this pic ;-)

I'm a huge fan of gourmet chocolates. Until now I've relied on Whole Foods and Trader Joe's for the good stuff. I spotted this quaint little chocolate store near my streetcar stop. Lolli's on St Charles is just blocks from my home. The selection may be limited but what they have is impressive. Lolli's is reasonably priced compared to those mall stores. It's not cheap but good chocolate never is. Miranda was a delight. I ordered an "off menu" item on Monday and she had it beautifully gift wrapped on Wednesday. This is sure to be your go-to place for fine chocolates in the CBD. Tell 'em Ray sent ya!

Really fresh and delicious chocolate covered strawberries. The inside of this place is like being in a mini chocolate factory. The smell is enchanting. I ordered both white chocolate and milk chocolate covered strawberries and both were delicious. You can get them warm or cold. The staff was very friendly and courteous and took the time to talk about the business, products and services they offer. I really enjoyed my experience here.

I hadn't packed mine and showed up with a full belly of food yet still managed to drink a hot chocolate, eat a bowl of jambalaya and a couple spoons of my friends gumbo. I know I said it was a sweet shop but apparently the owner just really enjoys cooking and boy can throw down in the kitchen! It was good and unexpected for a "sweet shop!" ha From what I understand from a friend his burgers are really good too! If you're looking to get some cocoa bombs to better enjoy this cold front moving in he has a bunch. He also has French vanilla cappuccino bombs which I'm not a coffee drinker but that sounds interesting. He has cute coffee mugs and tumblers for sale too! The coffee mug with something about the Grinch and a cocoa bomb would make for a really cool Christmas gift idea! Just sayin. And before you judge me for the pictures yes we went ham buying cocoa bombs! It's the best way to drink hot chocolate let's be real!

A few years ago, my Beloved offered me a birthday present of anything sold at Chef City, and being…read morea man of action, I immediately chose an 80-quart boiling pot with a basket and lid. I was ready to cook Louisiana-style But the only places in San Diego where I could buy live crawfish and blue crabs in bulk were local Asian markets, which I tried, but I found that they generally carry tiny, hard-shelled crawfish and what in other places are referred to as "soup" crabs, ones so small that they add good flavor to stocks, but don't provide much of a meal. Then I called Louisiana's Best Seafood. This distributor, like many in the New Orleans area, has relationships with local shrimpers, crabbers and crawfish suppliers. What distinguishes Louisiana's Best Seafood is their willingness to work with long-distance customers on selection (not all shellfish are created equal, in size or "fullness"), price and the logistics of delivering dozens of pounds of perishable seafood. My "guy" at Louisiana's Best Seafood is Val Sevin, an old-school New Orleans gentleman and raconteur who will advise you, arrange a fair price with you, and ensure your seafood reaches you in the best possible condition. Need a sack of crawfish, some big, sweet shrimp or a few dozen live blue crabs? Let Louisiana's Best Seafood send you the best the Gulf Coast has to offer, overnight, for pickup at the Southwest Cargo Terminal at Lindbergh Field. There's just one thing they can't help with: you'll need a really big pot.

I ordered 2 dozen soft shell crabs from Louisiana's Best Seafood and as an afterthought added a…read moregallon of oysters. The crabs are very nice and fresh however the volume of the oysters was not acceptable, about 1/3 full at best. I texted them and spoke to John. John said to text a picture and he would discuss it with his manager. I did that and emailed John but the email address on the website doesn't work. I then emailed using the address on FaceBook and got no response. I posted on their FB page but they removed my post. The oysters are supplied to them by Genevieve's and the volume does not compare with the volume that I received from Terry's in Sulphur Springs.

OMG, how did this place not already have their own business listing on Yelp? For shame! Though I am…read morehappy to get a chance to be the first to review Vintage Garden Kitchen on Yelp, because this is an absolute *gem* of a business, and everyone in the world needs to know about it. Yesterday afternoon, I saw a tweet reminding people to place orders before 4pm, because today (Wednesday) is the day they deliver - yes, that's right, deliver! - their jars of amazingly delicious, healthy, vegetarian-friendly, locally sourced, and [insert list of superlatives and synonyms for the word awesome] soup. Straight from their garden, via the kitchen, to your door. Thanks to the reminder on Twitter, I placed my order online yesterday afternoon for four pints of soup: Fiery Shiitake Mushroom and Barley; Moroccan Chickpea Stew; Rustic Vegetable Bean; and Vegan Lentils and Greens. Each pint comes in a re-usable mason jar, and when you collect six of those, you get a free pint of soup with your next order! Brilliant: it's savvy (saves the business money), and green, and convenient. There's so much win here that I'm having a hard time putting it into words. Long story sort: The Vintage Garden Kitchen is an Arc Enterprises Company, meaning that not only do they provide amazing food (AND DELIVER IT TO YOUR DOOR!), but also, in doing so they provide employment for adults with developmental disabilities. (They're one of the businesses run by the nonprofit Arc of Greater New Orleans.) I've seen the garden where they grow all the food that is used to make these amazing soups, and it blows my mind that food this fresh, this nutritious, and this beautifully convenient is available in New Orleans. But wait, it gets better: their food is shockingly affordable. A half pint of, say, Moroccan Chickpea Stew feeds 2 people, and costs $4.99. The minimum order for delivery is $15, so for four pints I paid about $22.00, and it was delivered the very next day. How. Awesome. Is. That. Seriously. They deliver every Wednesday between 10am and 2pm, and orders must be placed before 4pm on Tuesday to ensure delivery. They deliver to 70001, 70005, 70115, 70118, 70119 (yay!), 70124, and 70125. Again, the minimum order for delivery is $15 (so, approximately three pints, or two quarts, blah blah math and stuff). They take credit cards, it's easy to place an order online, and you can also order in two other ways. Either pre-order for pick-up (and you can come get your soups between 8am and 4pm M-F), or if you don't want to pre-order, you can simply stop by during business hours. Walk-ins are welcome, too! So...yeah. Amazing, amazing, amazing. I'm so glad the Vintage Garden Kitchen exists. I highly recommend you give them a try. Then you, too, can write your very own rave review of this freaking awesome local business. Well done, Vintage Garden Kitchen. Well done. And THANKS!

The location is a little out of the way, on Labarre south of Airline Highway across the railroad tracks, but definetly worth the trip!!!!
