Chilly relleno
Greg O.

We were in the area and decided to check out Lola's market on Petaluma Hill road. We usually go to the one on Sebastopol road. A small eatery on the premises has a separate entrance other than the store. They have a small dining area and larger outdoor dining. We are on the hunt for the perfect Chile relleno so we both ordered the combo plate with rice and beans. It also came with fresh hot tortillas. The food was delivered and it looked good and the price was very reasonable. We started eating and immediately noticed that the rice and beans were lukewarm. We cut into the chile relleno and found a doughy exterior that had no taste. The pepper itself was thin surrounding a thick, cold, firm, solid cheese interior. This relleno was not freshly cooked and made the flavor poor. Because of the temperature, we both felt it was the worst chile relleno we ever had and dubbed it, "chilly relleno". We could have sent it back to be microwaved but had other things to do and I can microwave food at home. We will not return to this location but would try out the Sebastopol store.

1 lengua taco, 1 al pastor taco, and 1 pollo asado taco. LOTS of meat on these!
Lucas A.

I've driven by Lola's Market (multiple locations throughout the North Bay) so many times but have never been inside one. I was driving around thinking about where I should eat lunch, and decided to give Lola's taqueria a try. I was not disappointed! The menu is fairly extensive with items you would expect, but I was in the mood for tacos. I grabbed one chicken, one al pastor, and one lengua taco. They were all excellent! The main selling factor, for me, is the amount of meat piled onto these tacos. They taste great, but the value is even better. You get A LOT of meat. Probably enough for two tacos on each one. The tacos are a little more expensive than your normal taqueria fair, but the portions more than make up for it. If you have a big appetite and want some tacos - give your local Lola's Market a try!

Bad taquitos
Vanessa M.

Taquito Pack, looks great on their weekly flyer. Terrible in reality. Lolas needs to hire a person who actually tastes the food they make and sell. You can't mess taquitos up, but congratulations Lolas restaurant your cooks managed to stuff the taquitos with tasteless, unseasoned, bland food. The potatoes not seasoned, the chorizo just cooked with no onion. Then to add insult to injury the taquitos are then perfectly over fried until it hurts to bite them. Gave one star cause you can't give them zero. Lolas step up your food, you are charging premium prices for gas station quality food!

Whole roasted chickens for $7.49
Dana H.

Another frequent visit to Lola's today. It's a nice Mexican food market. The whole roasted chickens are back up to $7.50 on weekends from $4.99. I guess they run specials occasionally and then pull them. However, they had a Pollo Asado whole grilled special today for $8.99. It's not the same whole roast chicken in the bag but rather 2 chicken halves that were grilled, not roasted. Included for $8.99 are 2 grilled chicken halves, 8 oz container of the salsa of your choice, 8 oz Mexican rice, and 2 dozen corn tortillas. It's a pretty good deal. The 8 oz rice isn't enough so I ordered a quart of rice for another $5. I also ordered a chile relleno a la carte. The Mexican rice is some of the best I've had. It's fluffy light and tasty but not overbearing. The chile relleno is huge so I usually eat half with rice and save the other half for another meal. And the grilled chicken is delicious and tender with just the right amount of spices. I proceeded to the produce section and picked up some fresh cilantro, radishes, and green onion. Their produce prices are less than the local supermarkets. The cashier wasn't very friendly when I said "hola". No thank you when I left but I didn't come here for friendly checkouts. The hot food and salsa employees were very friendly and helpful so that makes up for it. I will keep coming to this market. By the way, if you haven't tried their hand made corn tortillas, they are only available on weekends and you have to ask for them. Not all of them speak English, so just ask for "tortillas de maíz hechas a mano" which is spanish for hand made corn tortillas.

Killer good salad

I picked up on Lola's from Yelp and popped in for lunch today. WOW was I surprised, I had their Santa Fe Salad that was $9.99 and it was big enough for three of us, super fresh and so tasty. My daughter had a couple of carnitas tacos and the carnitas was perfect. Not an obvious place to go, but I will be back to try more.

Review # 176 We have a few Lola's markets here around Sonoma County. This review is based on the Taqueria. One thing I love about Lola's Taqueria is that they are FAST. When you are absolutely carb depleted and starrrrrrving, Lola's market will deliver ultra fast speedy service. Delivering those carbs of satisfaction that your body is craving straight to your belly. By the time you load up at their made fresh daily salsa. You have just a couple of minutes to snack on a few chips before your meal arrives. What ultimately drives me to Lola's is the raw and grilled onions at the salsa bar. Along with thier delicious avocado salsa. Even in desperate times of the rising cost of avocado, Lola's still delivers that wonderful Avocado salsa. I haven't venutred the store much. Or have tried the other Lolas market locations. Dutton will be next on my list.

The menu and a picture of my chimichanga with pork. Yum.

Bland burrito. Not good at all. The salsa bar is gross and the salsa consistency is all off. Expensive for the low quality. Avoid.

I also was very curious about Peruvian ceviche. Mexican-style ceviche is one of my favorite things and I make it a lot, but had never had Peruvian ceviche. It seemed like the perfect lunch. The restaurant is really beautiful inside, with wood and stone and earthy colors. The place settings are all very nice handcrafted ceramics and the bar was a giant wooden fancy installation. During the day it was very quiet, but with all the hard surfaces, I imagine it was pretty boisterous at night. I told the waitperson that I was interested in ceviche and whether he had recommendations. He pointed me towards the ceviche carretillero (cart ceviche), which he said also had their house ceviche, fried calamari, fried yucca and plaintains and that it would be more substantial for a lunch. I later looked up "ceviche carretillero" and found out that in Peru, a street food was ceviche topped with crunch fried calamari and that it was very popular and served out of carts! The preparation was lovely, with a pile of their fish of the day, which was a type of cod, in the middle with shredded onions on top. surrounding it was fried calamari, sweet potato, yucca, and extremely thin and beautifully fried plaintain strips. He offered to pour the small pitcher of Sangre de tigre on top and I agreed. Sangre de tigre is the marinade used to "cook" the fish. It is different than Mexican ceviche!! While not spicy with chiles, it was spicy with ginger and I don't know what else. It hits your throat, not your palate, which I thought was so interesting. I would not say it was "hot spicy", but I did cough a bit when I swallowed! It was very good! The fish was cut into fairly big rough pieces so you could really taste it. The calamari was excellent, as were the yucca and plaintain. I used the plaintain like I would fried tortillas in a Mexican ceviche, and using it almost like a spoon. I don't know if that was proper or not, but it worked for me! The Yucca would have been perfect with some mojo sauce, but that's a Cuban thing. I wonder if their is a comparable Peruvian sauce? The portion was generous and perfect for someone who came to lunch hungry. I really enjoyed my little middle of the day splurge lunch!
