Hello I've been in Barstow now since mid-June '15 and I hadn't yet tried Lola's in the Von's Shopping Center on Main St. My roomie said they were very good, so I recently stopped by one weekday around 6:45pm (they close at 7:30pm). I was in a bit a of a hurry, so I ordered the Nachos with pork and a fountain drink. First off, I was a bit dismayed that it cost over $10 for nachos, yet this restaurant gets a "One Dollar Sign" rating. Second, they charge a buck ($1) to use your debit card. Heck, even the AM/PM mini-mart only charges $0.35. The nachos ended up being very plain and the goodies to chips ratio should have been much higher, especially for costing over $10! What I could've have gotten down the street for less than $10 cost me over $13 at Lola's. Will I go back again? Yes, but earlier in the day, perhaps for breakfast. Friendly staff but extremely small dining area. We showed up and were told (after we stood in line to order) that they wouldn't even start making our food until we sat at a table. All the tables were full and people had just sat down do we didn't want to wait. I will say their restrooms were clean and their food looked good. read more

For a spot in a town as small as Barstow I give it 5 stars! Enchiladas and Carne Asada burrito are both great!

I'm from Barstow & I grew up with a Mexican cooking mom. I guess you can say my standards for Mexican food are pretty high. Lila's is my "To Go" spot when I need my Mexican food fixing. It still doesn't compare to my moms but it satisfies my craving. Any other place in Barstow for Mexican, in my opinion is not worth your money (Except for Los Domingo's which has shown much improvement, but we'll leave that for another review). Such a great find! The small restaurant was clean and cute, a homey feel. I had the huevos rancheros, YUM! Kids loved their food. Lola was friendly and welcoming. My 7 year old was nervous about Mexican food for breakfast, but the egg and sausage sandwich on an English muffin was perfect for him. I would highly recommend. read more

Service was fast, but far from the best Mexican food. The cheese inside my chili relleno was not melted at all, the tortillas that came with the plate looked like the ones u buy at Vons. Don't know if it was cuz the fryer was broke or if grandma wasn't cooking, but I was not impressed. read more

We stopped here on our way coming home from Vegas and we will definitely stop here again!!! The service was great and the staff was very friendly. The food was delicious!! We had the taquitos, Carne asada sope, chicken tacos and the chilaquillas with Carne asada on top!!! Everything was so good and tasted very authentic!!! read more

So I heard that this place had some of the best mexican food. I decide to give a try I drove to Barstow to get out of town, stopped there for lunch and had beef tacos with rice and beans. I must say the food is amazing and the beans are perfectly cooked and flavorful! Chips and salsa are just delicious and can't stop eating them. I came back another week and tried the milanesa and man that was just delicious! Food tastes fresh and definitely authentic mexican food! I would give a 5 star but some workers can be a little rude. Excellent! I had the carne asada combo while others in my group had the tacos, the quesadilla, the taquitos, and the carnitas. Everyone loved their meal. I'll definitely stop here again the next time I find myself near Barstow -- this was so much better than the usual food I get along I-15 (it's very convenient as it's only about 2 minutes off the I-15). We stopped at Lola's based on Yelp ratings while traveling through town. Immediately the person at the register (likely owner) offers us menus and a smile. I have tons of dietary restrictions due to a medical condition and they pleasantly accommodated my requests and then offered additions to make it better. My meal was great, my husband's (which was made the way it's on the menu) was outstanding according to him. I like good food, I like good service even more, Lola's nailed them both. read more

This is a great little gem hidden near Vons. The food was delicious and the service was great. The gentleman who took our order was friends, personable, and took the time to discussion the original art work on display the Small bonus the bathrooms were really clean. It's hard to criticize this place because it was something of an oasis on a long Vegas-LA drive, as I imagine it is for many people. Family owned with a super nice staff, it does the job of filling you up to continue your journey. Is it the best Mexican food? No. But it doesn't have to be. read more

We went to Lola's for lunch during the week. The dining room is tiny, barely room for 20 people. The menu was varied, mexican of course, but the food wasn't the tastiest and was more expensive than I thought it should be. I think they're on the right track but just need to put a little more effort into their delivery. read more

We were on our way to Lake Mead in our RV...we needed plenty of space to park our rig...which Lola's has plenty of space to park! That was the first "Yippee"! We walked in and ordered quickly and sat down to a very warm reception. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas and I ordered the Machacha Huevos. Both of our meals were wonderful! We had the chicken enchilada verde, it was really good! 3 corn tortilla enchiladas filled with chicken (looked to be mostly white meat) in a great verde sauce slightly spicy, with beans and rice it was a great meal overall. A lot has been written about Lola's and the pics tell it all. All I want to say is how nice, welcoming the folks are at this low key restaurant. Just like a Chef in a famous restaurant, the young man bringing you the food takes time to come and greet you, asks you where you're from. It's such good feeling. Wow. This family owned business is awesome. It is a small restaurant that puts on really big favors. In addition, the service is fantastic. You might wait a few minutes for a table but it is well worth the wait! I did the nachos with carne asada and it was incredible. The chips were homemade and the carne asada was fresh and well prepared. My family enjoyed everything that was ordered. Definitely worth stopping by for a good meal! read more

The food is good here. The beans are always great. But a little cheap if you get the California burrito has tons of fries so ask for easy fries. But everything is pretty tasty. I like the shredded beef taco it is very tasty and lots of meat in this one. I would definitely recommend. read more

Food = Excellent! Atmosphere = Nicely decorated, for a slot in a strip mall. Prices= We thought alittle on the high side for kind of small portions. Portions = Could have been bigger. Chips = Unique, made from flour tortillas, would have liked more. Salsa = Mediocre, very thin, no chunks - the only part of the food that wasn't top notch Service = Excellent! We went for breakfast and had huevos rancheros - very good with verde sauce! Served on modern square plates. Alittle more beans/rice/chips would have been nice. Food was served up very fast. There are no booths, just tables and chairs. Would like to go back and try lunch or dinner if we're ever in the area again. read more
