I have been buying shoes online for several years now. Why wouldn't I? I don't have to leave the house and they are delivered in a few days, easy peasy, right! Well I've been feeling like I haven't really been getting shoes that fit properly but also thought as I get older, foot pain and discomfort come with the territory. While walking around Holland, MI today my wife suggested that we stop by since we had nothing else to do but enjoy the downtown area. Cory met us as we entered and offered to help if he could. I had spotted a pair that I liked (color and design) and he asked my size. While he went to get them we browsed the store some. As we talked about different brands and which had the best arch support, he took me to school! I don't think I have had anyone measure my foot since my Mom took me to get shoes 40+ years ago. I've been buying the same size for decades now. Cory took several measurements and suggested that a different size might work better for me. He showed me how much things have changed since I became set in my ways. I tried on 3 different styles of tennis/ walking shoes that were nowhere on my radar. All 3 pairs felt light years better immediately. They all had a different feel about them in the way my foot seated in them, but all were extremely comfortable. Cory is trained to fit shoes correctly and I am so glad my wife suggested we stop. Yes, I bought all three pair and of course I wore a pair out. I've been coming to this store for years because I like to try on my shoes before purchase. Their customer service is terrible! Very unfriendly. The two people I've dealt with for myself and my mom tried to size up by 1-2 shoe sizes. We bought the shoes for my mom because of a stroke and she kept tripping over them. The gal insisted it would get better. They didn't even say "thank you" for purchasing. read more

Service lady was an a-hole. I work an off shift and was quite tired when I made it inti the store. With a new job, and scrambled head, , took 2-seconds to come up with name of new employer. With a new cell phone, I had to look on the phone for that info. When asked for name, she asks "do you need to look that up too?" My thought was "no, but I do need to look for a reason not to spit in your b*tch face". What a conceited snobby women. I'll use Amazon going forward so I don't have to deal with a shoe salesperson that thinks she's "the sh*t" for some oddball reason. read more

Took my 87 year old elderly mother here to be fitted for new shoes. She has a brace on one foot and some lower extremity swelling. She now requires wider shoes. Jen took great care and extra time to ensure her shoes were fit properly. This was an amazing experience that I didn't know still existed in a customized one on one experience. Had an amazing experience at Lokers Shoes yesterday. At first, I couldn't find anything that was the right fit. I tried on pair after pair and was feeling discouraged- both for my sake and poor Joe who had brought me nearly 20 pairs to try on. Joe never showed any sign of annoyance despite being very busy in the shop. He kept working to help me (and my sister accompanying me) to find the right pair of shoes. All of their shoes are high quality, primarily good leather with excellent support. I just happen to have finicky feet. Poor Joe was ending his shift, so Jen, the store owner took over. She was also very patient and helped me try on more and more shoes. She offered great insight into her products. After about 2 hours of shopping, I made my way to the cash register with 6 pairs of high quality and very reasonably priced shoes. I may never shop in another big chain shoe store again. We had a great experience at this store! I see older reviews that sound like the opposite of our experience. We walked in for the first time and was greeted nearly immediately and waited a few minutes while they found a moment to connect with us between helping others. Both of us found shoes we liked, tried on multiple sizes for the best fit and walked out with three pair. The selection was great and the prices were reasonable for the quality of the shoes. We could have purchased more, but this was plenty for one visit. Further, one pair I liked had a slight defect. They ordered another pair, called me when they arrived, and took my payment over the phone when they came into the store. They also mailed them out to me free because I was not going to be able to pick them up for a little while. Great experience start to finish! read more

I went into Loker's on a busy Friday afternoon to find new Dansko shoes to wear to work (I work in a restaurant, so it's very important to me to have good shoes because I'm on my feet all day). An older gentleman "helped" me out. He was so rude. I wore my old Dansko shoes in and gave it to him to see the size on the bottom. When he was finished, he dropped my shoe to the floor. He ordered me to put my foot down to be measured. He insisted that a black shoe was navy blue and thought I was stupid when I referred to it as a "black shoe." He offered to order the shoe that I needed and when I asked when it would be in, he informed me that he "is not clairvoyant." All in all, I almost cried when I left this store. What a miserable excuse for customer service. Go to the Santa Fe Trading Company in Saugatuck instead. read more

I stopped in on a very busy Saturday night when there was a Holiday event going on downtown Holland. While I did have to wait a bit because the store was busy, when Anna started helping me she gave me her full attention and helped me select a pair of shoes that will work well for me. Very interesting Jim, I had a rude encounter with the manager also. I brought a pair of shoes in that leaked water after walking one block on the sidewalks of Chicago in the snow. I paid ovet $100.00 for these shoes. I was with a friend that also had shoes on and she couldn't believe how soaked my feet were. Before I could even finish my story, he piped in and said none of the shoes in the store were waterproof. I then asked him if any of his shoes could be worn in the rain and he said no.( I've been wearing shoes for years in rain and snow without any problems) He took my shoes downstairs and put some shoe polish on them. He handed them back to me and said quite rudely- there they should be fine as long as you don't use them as boots. My Dr suggested I go to Lokers to check out their insoles for planter faciatis relief. There was one other customer who was being helped when I arrived (and 3 people working). I wandered and waited and other customer left and still no one came to ask if I needed any help. After about 15 minutes I had to ask for help. Sales person was condescending towards me when I was asking about the differences between different insoles. At one point suggesting I get all new shoes. Yeah I bet you'd like that. I have shopped at Lokers for years and have had a wonderful experience! My doctor recommended going there because they knew how to measure your feet and recommend shoes that promote health. the first time I bought a pair I wore them In San Fran, hiking up and down those streets, catching trolley, etc. I noticed my feet and back didn't hurt as usual. then when I had fasciitis they had a specialist who fitted me with inserts that made a huge difference in the pain. I send people there all the time and they are very helpful. If the shoes don't work out I go back and they make it right. I would highly recommend them:) read more

Lokers has top of the line shoes that are comfortable but also look great. They carry upscale brands so the prices aren't cheap but they are shoes that you will wear for years. The service was great! The owner of the store found us in a near by in local brewery after we left our shoe laces on the counter, We told him that we were going there next and he didn't want us to be with out our laces so he brought them to us! we found 4 pairs of shoes in the bargain basement. On February 9th 2013 I went into Lokers to pick up a pair of work boots I ordered. There were two people working at 11:00 am as well as two people being waited on. I was in working cloths. Sweat shirt blue jeans. Any way two other people walked in and they employees waited on them and ignored me. So I left a note asking the staff to call me when they were willing to get my order after twenty minutes and walked out. They didn't call and I called back. I talked to the manager and told him I was there to pick up a pair of Work boots with a Herman Miller voucher and asked him why the staff was so rude to me? He told me that he could not get Herman Miller to answer the phone and wasn't going to loose any sleep over an employee's purchase from Herman Miller employees. Thanks for the great service Lokers. Although Lokers has great shoes, their management needs a serious make-over. I was amused to read the reviews from Lori H and Jim F because more than three years ago I had the same "non-encounter" as Jim. Came in on a rainy, cold day and was ignored by a very grumpy woman who was not especially interested in finding out that I actually WANTED to purchase some shoes!. No sale, sweetie. When I moved to Holland last year, I was eager to see if I'd have a similar experience. The same woman was still working at Lokers, but another woman waited on me. I went into this store and planned on spending a good amount of money on shoes. First no one even said hello to me or looked my way and then when one person did look my way they look me over from head to toe and must've decided I wasn't good enough to wait on. I was disgusted by the arrogance in this store. Everyone should be treated equal. They made me feel worthless. I will never ever set foot in a store that treats people like that. Total disgrace. They even have a person on staff that can work with you if you are having any kind of foot related issues. He will recommend orthotics and make sure you understand what is going on. my husband has been shopping here for years for docksiders and work boots. We've never had any issues with any workers. I've been shopping there for the last 3-4 years and love their selections.
