I had spotted a pair that I liked (color and design) and he asked my size. While he went to get them we browsed the store some. As we talked about different brands and which had the best arch support, he took me to school! I don't think I have had anyone measure my foot since my Mom took me to get shoes 40+ years ago. I've been buying the same size for decades now. Cory took several measurements and suggested that a different size might work better for me. He showed me how much things have changed since I became set in my ways. I tried on 3 different styles of tennis/ walking shoes that were nowhere on my radar. All 3 pairs felt light years better immediately. They all had a different feel about them in the way my foot seated in them, but all were extremely comfortable.
