I took my time selecting a service to rewrite my resume, knowing there are many options out there…read more I worked with both Dia and Donna throughout the process. One thing I wish I had known beforehand is how important it is to have a clear idea of the specific type of role you're targeting before starting the resume process. During a job search--which can be incredibly stressful and uncertain--I didn't feel that my experience or challenges were fully understood or acknowledged. Navigating a job search takes strategy, reflection, and support, and unfortunately, I didn't feel there was much empathy offered throughout this process. If I could do it over again, I would work with a career coach first to gain clarity and direction, before investing in resume services like this one."

I engaged Personal Touch Career Services in September 2019 to get them to review and tweak my…read moreresume. they had been recommended by a friend. I paid my $498 and they did what they do, changes were made etc, and before long I was sending my resumes and letters were being sent out but I got zero response. I still didn't feel it was saying the right things the right way for my industry so a few more changes were made but I had the same lack of results. I stepped away, changed a few things myself and sent it to people direct and I got a better response and even some work. I chalked the money spent, at a time when I couldn't really afford it, and the experience I had up to it being 'just one of those things' that don't work out for me and my situation and I moved on. Not long after I got a year long contract as well as some other work (but that was through my work in general, a recommendation, and my self-tweaked resume). With both their resume and the one I did, I got very little pick up via job ads. Flash forward to late 2020 and PTCS reach out to get feedback on the service I received. I explained how it hadn't worked for me and I had drawn a line under it, and we set up another consultation. I also provided copies of the current resume I had made. Donna, who is lovely, ran tests and gave me the results, and that was kind of it as 90 day options had long run out. The most significant advice I got was to open a Jobscan account/subscription and read chapter 11 of the book I got as part of my package. Should I have gone back again within the 90 days? Maybe, but I wanted to draw a line under it and try a different approach (which included getting industry friends to input on my resume). All I know is that while Personal Touch Career Services have been great for some people, and I'm delighted that's the case, working with them didn't get results for me. Also, if you're reaching out after 90 days to get feedback and offer help and the main response is, 'We can't do what we could have done because it's after 90 days,' that doesn't feel like the best result to offer. It certainly won't make me look at giving PTCS more of my money. They might work for you, they're certainly nice people to deal with, but for someone working in journalism and production for over 25 years, it didn't bear fruit in my case.

I then wanted to get back into my career but in practicing law rather than construction management. I need to condense a two page resume with 10 yrs of experience in commercial construction work with intermitted legal jobs into a new one page law resume. A friend recommended ED as being instrumental in him landing his current dream job. I looked up the site, saw the price tag then became very apprehensive as funds are in short supply. Here's the thing, I needed a completely revamped resume and I was fresh out of ideas by my own efforts. I IM'd with Hazel prior to my purchase and she answered my questions which calmed my fears about the decision. She then emailed me about my purchase within 30 mins. I was then paired with Trent (Sr. Resume Writer) and he emailed me within 24hrs of my purchase. We set up a time to speak to make sure he was clear on my objectives. I was relieved and encouraged when he shared his own professional background as I felt I was in good hands as to what I needed done. He sent me a first draft which required very minor edits and the final quickly followed. I got exactly what I paid for... a totally revamped one-page resume that I can edit to suit the position sought. I shared the final draft with some attorney friends who felt it was exactly what I needed. I'm very happy with the end product, the customer service I received, the turn-around time. I would recommend them to friends looking to change things up. Hopefully soon I'll have a new legal position to boast of!!

They emailed back and forth with me for 24-48 hours, sharing each draft and taking my feedback into consideration for the next draft until my resume looked perfect. On top of that, I needed a cover letter for an interview the next day and they worked with me to turn around one of the best cover letters I've ever seen. They are fantastic writers! Overall, it was a great experience and I would absolutely use them again.

I am so grateful for her guidance, and I think it would be difficult to find a more gifted career/life coach! She didn't offer to write my resume and cover letter for me. Instead, she challenged me to do the deep work necessary to discover a position/workplace which fit my values, played to to my strengths, and would offer more balance and fulfillment in my life. Isn't that what we all want anyway?! Her knowledge, expertise, as well as the wealth of resources she provided, were invaluable to my successful career transition. I have never met a more skilled cognitive coach. Rather than answering all my questions, she first ensured I was asking the right questions and empowered me to answer them for myself. Whether you are an educator or a business professional, you will be in more than capable hands with Nikki and Next Horizon Consulting.

While, I was certain I had the skills, most employers overlook resumes of applicants such as myself who don't have "x years of experience" in a given position. I fancy myself a talented writer and have always thought myself a solid resume writerI started like most people do, revising my resume to the best of my ability using resource sites I found online with sample resumes. There are MANY suggestions, but I found there really is no definitive consensus for what is going to catch an employers eye. Ignoring the warnings, I pushed forward submitting the resume I wrote in hopes of landing a job that will get me the position I need to build a successful resume. The response to my self-written resume was dissappointing to say the least. With flexibility in my personal life, I submitted resumes to at least 15 different companies in 3 cities and received ZERO responses. Not even one. That's extraordinarily discouraging for someone who feels they just need to get into the room to land just a temp or contract position. I was brought close to tears at the thought of some of the reports I read of people finding introductory level positions in my field after 1-2 years. I was unable and unwilling to wait that long so I had to change something. I couldn't get my foot in the door so I needed a resume expert. I did quite a bit of research on which company wrote the best resumes. I considered top google results, but they had, almost universally, one complaint: the writing seemed outsourced. I almost pulled the trigger on a particular option that seemed "good enough" before, while yelping, I discovered Career Magic. I liked the idea of supporting someone local. There's an added measure of confidence seeing that Tracy is based in the United States, that she brings legitimate qualifications to the table and that she offers a personalized experience. I took the plunge, shot here [Tracy] an email to get suggestions on how to move forward with the resume I had already written. She suggested we give editing by email (the entry level job seeker level) a shot, so I purchased this package and we got to work. Yes, there is some small work required on your part such as sending her sample job postings and answering questions, but this is MINIMAL compared to the benefits her work provides. After 3 or so days, I received the first draft and was blown away by the changes she had already made. My resume had entirely new formatting complete with revised sections and a comprehensive list of my own qualifications which we worked through together. We emailed back and forth several times before the final draft was completed, making changes to various items until we had a satisfactory final product. I finally got my tears, in the form of sheer joy of looking at what she had produced and the potential it might bring. In addition to my resume, I also had her compose a cover letter for a particular position that interested me which was PERFECT and thoroughly researched by Tracy. Perhaps, most importantly, she attached a .pdf called "Filling the Pipeline" which I followed to a "T." The results were darn near miraculous. I applied for 8 jobs over a 7-day period and received responses from SEVEN of the eight employers including one that I thought was the perfect position for my career. The end result was, I turned down two positions based on red flags and landed what essentially amounts to a dream entry-level position with potential for advancement. The best part? It wasn't contract, it wasn't temp to hire, it was a full time position with a very thorough interview process. It was, the most amazing feeling after going through a job-hunt roller coaster before I found Tracy. I don't write many reviews because, quite frankly, my opinion of things don't get swayed severely enough one way or the other. But this is different. This is your career and your future. If you want THAT job. Even if you just need A job. If you are stuck in a rut in your current position. No matter what field you are in or are looking to get into, I suggest you use Tracy's services. Not for her benefit, but for your own. Best of luck with your job search!
