Starting a career in a new field with zero experience is one of the most stressful experiences I've…read morehad. While, I was certain I had the skills, most employers overlook resumes of applicants such as myself who don't have "x years of experience" in a given position. I fancy myself a talented writer and have always thought myself a solid resume writerI started like most people do, revising my resume to the best of my ability using resource sites I found online with sample resumes. There are MANY suggestions, but I found there really is no definitive consensus for what is going to catch an employers eye. Ignoring the warnings, I pushed forward submitting the resume I wrote in hopes of landing a job that will get me the position I need to build a successful resume. The response to my self-written resume was dissappointing to say the least. With flexibility in my personal life, I submitted resumes to at least 15 different companies in 3 cities and received ZERO responses. Not even one. That's extraordinarily discouraging for someone who feels they just need to get into the room to land just a temp or contract position. I was brought close to tears at the thought of some of the reports I read of people finding introductory level positions in my field after 1-2 years. I was unable and unwilling to wait that long so I had to change something. I couldn't get my foot in the door so I needed a resume expert. I did quite a bit of research on which company wrote the best resumes. I considered top google results, but they had, almost universally, one complaint: the writing seemed outsourced. I almost pulled the trigger on a particular option that seemed "good enough" before, while yelping, I discovered Career Magic. I liked the idea of supporting someone local. There's an added measure of confidence seeing that Tracy is based in the United States, that she brings legitimate qualifications to the table and that she offers a personalized experience. I took the plunge, shot here [Tracy] an email to get suggestions on how to move forward with the resume I had already written. She suggested we give editing by email (the entry level job seeker level) a shot, so I purchased this package and we got to work. Yes, there is some small work required on your part such as sending her sample job postings and answering questions, but this is MINIMAL compared to the benefits her work provides. After 3 or so days, I received the first draft and was blown away by the changes she had already made. My resume had entirely new formatting complete with revised sections and a comprehensive list of my own qualifications which we worked through together. We emailed back and forth several times before the final draft was completed, making changes to various items until we had a satisfactory final product. I finally got my tears, in the form of sheer joy of looking at what she had produced and the potential it might bring. In addition to my resume, I also had her compose a cover letter for a particular position that interested me which was PERFECT and thoroughly researched by Tracy. Perhaps, most importantly, she attached a .pdf called "Filling the Pipeline" which I followed to a "T." The results were darn near miraculous. I applied for 8 jobs over a 7-day period and received responses from SEVEN of the eight employers including one that I thought was the perfect position for my career. The end result was, I turned down two positions based on red flags and landed what essentially amounts to a dream entry-level position with potential for advancement. The best part? It wasn't contract, it wasn't temp to hire, it was a full time position with a very thorough interview process. It was, the most amazing feeling after going through a job-hunt roller coaster before I found Tracy. I don't write many reviews because, quite frankly, my opinion of things don't get swayed severely enough one way or the other. But this is different. This is your career and your future. If you want THAT job. Even if you just need A job. If you are stuck in a rut in your current position. No matter what field you are in or are looking to get into, I suggest you use Tracy's services. Not for her benefit, but for your own. Best of luck with your job search!

I mean, I had even assisted friends in perfecting their own and would pat myself on the back for doing so. Plus, who knew and could translate my work experience better than me, right? WRONG. Oh, how I was wrong. First, I sent Alexa my current resume and she wanted to set up a meeting. I was thinking, "Why? I already sent you my resume... get to work." But during the meeting Alexa asked very probing questions that get you to think deeper about your processes and experiences. After the meeting, she went off and did... well, magic. When I got the final product, my eyes instantly teared up and I shouted HOLY MOLY! Well, if I'm being completely honest, I shouted the less censored version of that phrase. It's magical, I'm telling you. I feel like I can do anything with this resume. As I'm thinking about it at this very moment, it makes me want to stand up and do the Superman pose. And I'm pretty sure if I printed it on actual paper, it would somehow come out as pure gold. Funny thing, after she sent it back she wanted to set up more time to go over any edits I may have. I was like, "WHY?! THIS. IS. PERFECTION." And here's the best part: I submitted my golden ticket to a job opening and TWO HOURS LATER I was contacted for an interview. I'm not kidding folks. This is the real deal. Alexa unknowingly leveled up my life.

Obviously, on a more global level, I needed help refining my strategic direction after so many years of being my own and my employees' boss. Lauren's well-honed intuition and intelligence expertly guided me through that more philosophical process. On a practical level, though, I had not needed--and, in fact, did not have--a formal resume for almost 20 years. So, that had to be created anew, with an eye toward the fact that my professional life had been more adventurous and entrepreneurial than most. Lauren excelled at pulling from my narrative and highlighting the specific strengths that make me stand out as a potential colleague. I cannot thank her enough for making smooth and enjoyable that which could have been a very bumpy and unpleasant journey. What a gifted guide Lauren is!

Specifically, she taught me a very helpful framework that would give me clarity into what I wanted next, but also into what I actually needed. Alana thus helped me set clear boundaries and discover what my next step looked like. Once this was clear, one of the most difficult parts of my work was done. Alana is able to play a very personal role in helping you achieve your career goal. She takes her time to listen and understand your inner needs very well before she comes up with a plan. She truly believes that we all have a potential which we can achieve, if we take the right steps to get there. Once Alana understands your inner needs, she is able to easily unlock any personal or professional limitations and help you fulfill your potential by focusing on the specific areas that need action. I would highly recommend Alana to anyone who needs guidance with their career, seeks help regarding the job market, has uncertainties about the psychological part behind getting your dream job, is interested in recruiting -- her knowledge & experience around the area is incredible; or simply getting to know a gifted soul! :)

Alana will take the time to understand you as a person and provide counseling beyond what could be expected of a typical 'HR-type' looking to fill their next open position. With her inside experience she is able to guide your resume, conversation skills, and expectations to highlight your skills and strengths, and help you expose potential employers to the 'you' they really want to meet. This can be difficult for those with 'engineering minds' like myself who tend to be more objective, and Alana definitely helped me step out of that box. Most recently, I worked with Alana to update and improve my resume. After a single session we had completely re-worked one section of my resume to better reflect 'my voice' and clearly state my accomplishments in a way that highlighted my abilities as well as reflecting my personality. The difference from the initial draft I sent her to the final draft I used for interviews is subtle but dramatic, and I am positive it played a role in the callbacks I received. To hand over a resume that truly represents you makes everything that follows more natural, and that is a HUGE deal when making career moves! Beyond the resume, Alana was there to talk out any concerns, nerves, and provide encouragement throughout multiple levels of interviews and offer negotiations, something that can be overwhelming for someone at any level of professional experience. She has helped me aim higher than I would have on my own and provided the insider confidence I needed to push for the best possible outcomes. Could not recommend anyone higher; do yourself and your future a favor and let Alana guide you through your next professional moves.

I remember during my initial free phone consult, just feeling so completely defeated with no direction... and after only 20 minutes of talking with Hunter, I felt hope for the first time in years. She has such a calmness and kind heart that made me feel at ease opening up to her, yet an indescribable passion and fire that made me believe that at the end of this, I was going to be able to achieve greatness! Even when I didn't believe in myself, I truly felt that she did, and that kept me going. The way this program works is really magical. Danielle did a great job of putting this together, because I honestly do not think I would have finished with the same outcome, using another method. It takes you back to your childhood and forces you to dig deep into distant memories, both happy and sad, and really has you dissect the reasons behind the feelings of these memories and why they had the impact they did. It continues to move on throughout your life, thinking of situations and stories that left both good and bad tastes in your mouth, and then goes back and compares these to the childhood memories. It's amazing the patterns and similarities that I discovered along the way. As fascinating as this all was, at the halfway point of the program, I still had absolutely no idea where this was leading and if I'd ever be able to find something that was right for me. I started to worry that I was not going to be a success story, like all those I read about in the Yelp and Google reviews, and I may have just wasted my money. I expressed these concerns to Hunter and she reassured me that this was NOT going to be the case. She said that she believed in me and my journey and that she knew we would find the perfect career path that was meant for me, so I had no other choice but to trust her. I always left my zoom meetings with Hunter, feeling so hopeful and truly inspired! I remember telling her on one of our first sessions, that I always felt so good after talking with her, that I wanted to do what she did! I told her that I wanted to be someone's Hunter; the reason someone smiled again, found their confidence and felt hopeful for a better future, after coming from a place of negativity and defeat. Even though I said this early on, it didn't hit me until much later in the game, that I my true passion was in coaching. I have decided to leave my long time career aviation and go into wellness coaching, focusing on fitness, nutrition and mindfulness. Never in a million years, would I have come into this program thinking I'd have a skills or bravery to leave the corporate world and start my own coaching business, but that is exactly what I am in the process of doing! I owe Hunter more thanks and appreciation than I will ever be able to express, for this truly insane and much needed career transformation!
