This rec center is an absolute beast. As someone who loves to work out at recreation centers and…read morehas been to many throughout her life, this one takes the cake as one of the cleanest, most modern, and largest. It has an indoor fitness pool, an outdoor pool (looks like mostly designed for families with kids), an ice skating rink, a huge weight lifting and cardio machine area, multiple group fitness rooms, and a full-sized basketball court (that they use temporary drapes to turn into multiple courts for pickelball or pick-up basketball). There's probably more I'm missing. I've never actually walked through the entire place. They have a ton of community and fitness programming for the area. From 8 to noon then 4 to 9 most evenings, they have different fitness classes going on. They aren't just your basics either. They have enough TRX bands to support TRX classes or some of their strength-based classes use workout areas they've had installed. They have lots of spinning bikes and classes the support them. I've never actually encountered any machine or part of the fitness center that didn't work. Everything is well-maintained, and I've never even encountered an empty cleaning spray bottle before. The biggest "issue" I've had is when the water tastes a bit off because the red-light says the filter needs to be replaced on the water fountain. Prices aren't cheap, but they aren't expensive either. When a yoga class elsewhere will cost me $40, it's only $11 here at Kettering. If you get one of their multi-class passes or a membership, it's even cheaper on a per-class basis. They have lots of kids camps and kids activities including some homeschooling group play classes and more. I haven't paid much attention to the kid things, but I know they have some! Great spread of bodies and ages here too. You'll mostly see older adults, and it's really refreshing to see a ton of different types of people instead of the college-aged adults. Everyone here is super friendly, and it's clear a lot of the community uses this place as a great place to see and hang out with friends while staying active. Huge parking lot, but if there's a lot going on (like a kid's hockey meet), there have been a few times I've been unable to find a single parking spot in this beast of a parking lot. Bathrooms are clean too.

I feel it allows kids to try something/sport they may want to pursue as a lifelong dream but wouldn't know where to start. Basketball, Running, swimming, pickleball, volleyball, ice skating, ice hockey, and a lot more but I'm sure I've forgot. Just such a great place for the whole family to go. Who else misses when the middle school mascot was a wildcat?

Are you looking for fun and safe activity to do with friends or family while staying socially…read moredistanced from others? This is an awesome activity that checks all of the boxes! We visited Morgan's yesterday for the second time this summer. It's a great meeting spot for friends that live in Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Our first visit was on a Thursday and the second was on a Sunday. There was a big difference in the amount of people when going during the week versus the weekend. I would highly suggest a weekday visit if you would prefer less people. After a brief safety talk, you grab a life vest, paddle, and boat and you are off! We did kayaking on both of our visits, but saw a lot of people out on canoes and rafts. It is about a 7 mile trip and both times it took us about 3 hours doing a relaxing trip down the river with minimal paddling and a lot of floating. We packed a picnic lunch and pulled our kayaks out on a shady spot and ate lunch. This is not a technically different kayaking route. There are a few sections that are rocky, have some tiny rapids, or tree roots that you need to navigate, but all in all, it is a beginner level trip perfect for the novice and fun for all. The equipment is good, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The price is also good for a budget activity ~$30 per person! Let's talk about COVID-19 precautions: Morgan's takes this seriously! They are by reservation only and have designated checkin times. For our weekend checkin when it was busy, a man greeted us when walked up and directed us to an empty table to fill out our group's waiver. Once done, we took to a table with one staff member to checkin. All of this was outside. During the week, this was done in the building, but we were the only group. There are social distance markers on the ground, limit to 3 people per the changing room/restroom, social distance on the bus to bring you back, and all staff wore masks. Thank you for keeping us safe!

The river was maintained with nice spots to pull off for a rest. --1 star: the bathrooms at the front building were the dirtiest bathrooms I have ever experienced. Only 1 working toilet in the women's ( arrived at 9am) . --2 stars: unloading area at the end was not maintained. ( the staff member said what they had washed away in the spring) no where to pull your canoe to get off . Steep muddy hill to climb up. Someone in our group got hurt trying to get out when unloading . Young children were struggling to get up the steep hill.

It's been over 6 years since we visited this skating rink and about as long since I've skated. Link…read moreto hours and more info below. There is a convenient tent to keep warm next to the rink and a snack shop next to the ticket booth overing hot coco, soft pretzels / nachos and cheese https://www.metroparks.org/ice-rink/ I noticed that I definitely wasn't taking as many risks, but could still skate. I loved bringing my little one, and that there were green plastic skating gliders for beginners. You can rent skates but if you buy your own your feet probably won't hurt after 30 minutes of skating. Nicole had a cramp in one of her feet from the skates she rented.

This park is located in the heart of downtown along the......you guessed it, Great Miami River…read more There is metered street parking along the street in front of the park, as well as in a reasonable walking distance. The meters are free after 6PM on weekdays and on weekends. You will also find a bus stop out front of the park. I really like this park. It is not very big, but still very picturesque and soothing as the river goes by. There is also like a small waterfall near the center of the park and a large covered pavilion at the end of it. The waterfall area is a favorite for kayakers navigating Rivers Run. The park has an ice rink from November to February and they host other seasonal events like the The Five Rivers Fountain of Lights (splash pad), Fitness in the Park, Music at Lunch, and many other festivals including Dayton Celtic Festival, Germanfest Picnic, the Hispanic Heritage Festival. Bikes rentals and a snack bar are available during the Summer. Dogs are welcome, but they must be leashed and under control at all times. This is an awesome park to jog as it takes you on a loop across two bridges. FYI, it is connected to the nation's largest paved trail network. It is also a nice park to kick back and relax. I loved the gliders that are placed in the park overlooking the river. There is some seating near the sidewalk that forms a narrow plaza and are situated around rectangular shaped pools of water. Ahhhhhh! There are also some tables and chairs under a futuristic awning right off of the river that would be a nice place to have some lunch. The park is well maintained and clean. I really like its design. They had a couple of guys working on it while I was there. This is an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city. You can make this an adventure day and visit the nearby War Memorial and other attractions as well.
